Blog: BIG - What's the problem?

April 16th, 2017 13:40
Whats the problem with BIG? They are a bunch of very good players, but they have not found their breakthrough so far.

Its really a phenomenon:
We almost never see two people showing up, its almost everytime a one man show for BIG.

tabseN is a very good player with excellent aim. CPH Games was not a good event for him, but on BIGs last map he drops 30 frags while all other players were below 10 most of the time (although seeing tabseN dropping a 30+ isn't that rare). tabseN has proven he can show up against top teams too: e.g. against astralis he dropped a 40-bomb on cache (when gob, legija and him still were in NRG)
For me, tabseN is the most consistent player of BIG.

nex has crisp clean aim. yet he fails to show it most of the time. nex easily has the highest skill-ceiling in BIG but it's pretty rare that we see the beast (although it's getting better, he shows up more and more). I think playing with gob b is good for him.

keev has a "yolo"-awping style. he's not really predictable as he's very aggressive with the awp. That'S good for a lot of frags (and a lot of highlight clips :P) I love his playstyle, but he's missing a lot of important shots lately. When on point though, i'd say he could compete with top10 awpers.

legija probably gets the most shit from the community. But he's a pretty good support player. As support player, you have a really ungrateful job and everybody just sees you're not topfragging blah blah, but legijas job is not to frag heavy - its to support, and he does it very well - also he never misses an important frag and he's a pretty reliable second awp at times.

last but not least we got the mastermind gob b. he's pretty experienced and to be fair, he's calling the shots pretty well most of the time. BIG was the first team in a long time where i've seen players block smokegrenades to create gaps or doing that silent jump, you haven't even seen that in tier1 for a long time. Only problem i see with the calling is that BIG is pretty predictable at times, maybe they have to work on being a bit more dynamic.

TLDR: nex and keev have to become more consistent. tabsen is pretty reliable i'd say. legija does his job well too. gob should call a bit more dynamic. If everybody happens to be on point, BIG could easily be a T1 team that i could actually see making the playoffs of a major (maybe not the semi/finals though, thats a bit too early).

I'm a huge BIG fan (seeing they really work hard for their success) and that's of course all my own opinion here, feel free to disagree and discuss with me.

its important for big to win vs godsent tomorrow. they need to play against good teams every week. btw: imo nex is the best player in big.

they beat godsent before in ESEA Premier league, if they can find their ESEA #1 form again for tomorrow, i'd consider it won. But i agree, pro league would be a huge step for them to play against the best, to learn as a team

BIG = mousesports leftover team. Next step, kick keev and add Spiidi. Those players arent kicked without reason..
2017-04-16 13:48
mouz under gob b was a t1 team and nex was supposed to be the next big thing, so i could see them picking that up again. -keev +spidii would not work imo. legija would then pick up the awp so spidii can play support, that would fuck up the roles of the team a bit. while i kinda want to see spidii in BIG (he CAN be better than what we've seen lately) i dont think there's space for him at the moment, and i dont see BIG making a roster change in the next few months either
2017-04-16 13:55
if you want a german team to actually be decent: tabsen nex keev spiidi denis coach: gob
2017-04-16 13:58
if we wouldnt have the coaching rule, i'd probably agree with you 100% (maybe stfn or krystal for denis) but i've heard gob's mid-round calling is pretty important for the players, so they'd probably only show their full potential in events where the coaching rule is not used
2017-04-16 14:02
true. it´s sad that germany has literally 0 good igl´s. struxi and gob are too bad at fragging :/
2017-04-16 14:05
i'm not quite sure, but i think kRYSTAL is/was igling for penta, too. surely we havent seen any great results from penta either (although their current lineup seems relatively solid) but i imagine its hard to igl when the players around you change every 6 hours
2017-04-16 19:34
agreed. and honestly they wouldnt even need gob as a coach
2017-04-16 14:26
Kicking gob b would just destroy everything. I dont see it working out having an IGL as a coach anymore.

I remember at their first event (which was a Dreamhack where they got to the final and lost to F3) they were all playing out of their minds, even gob, but it seems like they've lost their motivation after that, idk what happened. They just need to figure out what they are lacking now in comparison to that event.
2017-04-16 14:14
I dont think they have lost their motivation, i think they got very hyped for playing in front of a german crowd in their first lan. They interacted with the crowd and had a ton of fun, it surely isnt the same when you sit in a dark room alone or when you play in copenhagen i n front of 12 people

That's kinda similar to loss of motivation when you think about it
2017-04-16 19:29
keev is just a JW wannabe
2017-04-16 14:16
if it works, its beautiful to watch tho
2017-04-16 19:26

German cs isnt good enough
2017-04-16 14:18
gob B is bad because all his tactics are countered. All smokes, flashes and mollies he discovers are used by everyone else. If he could copyright his nades, BIG top 2 ez. Nex is a disaster. Much promise no result not wow

tbh gob's aim is terrible. Maybe he should train it harder..

Belarus Trabew
His aim is not bad, i would say his aiming is pretty decent. he improved his aim a lot in NA. his positioning is pretty weird. i think his aiming is unterrated and his calling overrated ;)

Germany RobertZockt
they just need time tbh
2017-04-21 22:36
and godb? great igl btw
2017-04-21 22:40
put it simply ,they're not good enough keev still unproven on LAN vs good teams(t2 or more) tabsen inconsistent results(reminds me of NAF-FLY) Gobb - garbage individual skill , capable igl legija - no role in the team with below-average fragging power nex - unproven star so what's the problem here ? they seem at their place
