Hello and welcome to my new blog. This time I am gonna talk about which was first - turkey the country or turkey the bird, or if they might be even the same.
At first, I'm gonna see if turkey is called turkey because it has similar forms:
Nope, that doesn't seem to be the reason...
Then I got the idea that it might be called turkey because erdogan like to eat turkey, so I tried to find out if that's the case, and after hours of research, I found this picture:
So, this seems to be at least a possibilty.
Then I tried to find out which turkey existed first.
According to Wikipedia, the original bird turkey is the Guineafowl which europeans called turkey when it came from turkey to europe in 1673, but the europeans accidently started to call the turkey from nowadays turkey.
But I couldn't find any information about why the country is called turkey. So we can't really know which turkey was first called turkey.
Then, I had another idea: What if the word turkey is a code for something. And the first I tought about were the "Turk" and "ey" and I tought "ey" might just be short for "eye".
So, I looked at the eyes of famous turks:
But I couldn't find anything useful. But that doesn't mean it hasn't something to do with the eyes of turks.
So, the only two possibilities are that Turkey is called Turkey because Erdogan likes to eat Turkey, or that it has something to do with the eyes of turks.
Thank you for your attention,
