1.6 movement
Italy kebuna
do you think the movement is too easy in 1.6? Bhopping is very easy to do consistently compared to GO which is hard to get more than 2 bhops consistently. (for me at least). Everyone says it has way better movement, what do u think?
2016-06-05 21:21
Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
it's not easy but you can do more things movement related in 1.6

Why is that a bad thing? Just adds another mechanic to the game. And to OP: hitting bhops in CSGO is not harder than in 1.6, it's just that they have purposely made bhopping impossible. If you hit the jumps perfect you will actually lose speed in CSGO. When you get over 300 units/second it actually slows you down.
2016-06-06 03:41
i'd rather have the quickscope mechanics on GO, like in 1.6 where you could press mouse1+mouse2 at the same time and hit consistently, or even shoot once, and then hit the second shot without the crosshair even reappears.

You didn't press m1 and m2 at the same time, you pressed m2 a millisecond before you pressed m1. There is a big difference. In 1.6 you could do "quickzooms" where you didn't even zoom, because you did it so fast - which was accurate, while actually hipshooting without scoping (i.e. clicking m2 at all) was still complete shit.
2016-06-08 16:43
maybe it is OP, but at least it is consistent. I personally prefer consistency over luck.

movement in 1.6 was very consistent. In GO you can do the same thing over and over and you wont be able to consistently bhop. its more luck based imo.

bunny hopping may be easier in a fun server in 1.6 but a 1.6 player can learn and get a lot of advantages out of the movement compared to GO. just watch NEO demos in 1.6 train and see how he gets advantage of his movement skill. It's not easy to do what he does in a competitive game and no one was even near him.
2016-06-05 22:03
to duckjump you basically bind your mwheeldown for duck and jump both ez
2016-06-05 23:11
in 1.6 you could tell a highskilled player just buy watching him move without firing a single bullet... while in csgo everybody moves like a bot. in 1.6 it takes you years to master movement. just watch some highend matches on train fe. it is so hard to not f* up there on moves you will never see in cs:go. movement is not about some random bhopping.

The problem there is the higher playerbase now, particularly if you are initially placed in some shit MMR rank in CS:GO. Everyone plays "competitive" in cs:go, and most of the players (including at highest level of matchmaking) have absolutely atrocious movement. There is a reason that the vast majority of professionals today played 1.6 for years (and potentially even before 1.6) - because they have "game IQ" on a whole other level of the new players.

what I miss the most is the russian duck and the fact that you could do mini ducks between shots and bursts and getting up on small ledges. only noobs did bind +duck to mwheelup ;)

bind +duck to mwheelup/mwheeldown was disallowed (prolly) in last ~3 years of 1.6.

In 1.6 you felt like you were in control of whatever you do. In CS:GO you're veeeeery restricted. Everyone who played 1.6 for a few years will agree.

Bhopping is just a little part of movement in 1.6. So many things you are able to do on that engine. e.g. peaking over boxes with a duck recoil resetting with duck walking up small edges with a fast double duck instead of jumping ladder movement the list goes on.. So few people were actually able to do that properly.

and those spots on pistol rounds where you put your right shoulder into a box making it super hard to glocks to one shot you like in cs go
2016-06-06 03:13
i played 1.6 and i'm happy there is no more russian walk. it's cheat because you're more silent but fast and it fucks up your hitbox the peaking was better in 1.6 thanks to the crouch reactivity or smth
2016-06-05 21:55
1.6, bhop all day, never miss a hop css, too easy to bhop can just do laps around the map without even trying csgo, lucky to hit 3 hops in a row, bit easier on 128 tick but still not consistent at all, but when you do hit like 6 or 7 hops in a row its very rewarding

yeah, i do that too with the awp to get one hop before i peak sometimes
2016-06-05 22:32
1.6 is not about bhopping only it was also about ducking about , but jumping backwards and sideways to avoid bullets and amazing ladder movements... It was based on same engine as quake (if I remember well) so u can understand how good could be the movements

You may be able to bunny hop a lot easier in 1.6 but there's different levels of bunnyhopping. If you can reach max forward speed and hop under objects and do all the longest jumps in the game then you know you're good. Just YouTube cs 1.6 bunnyhopping or something. There's tons of stuff on inferno/d2/nuke/train that is so fucking hard to do it took years to master it
2016-06-05 22:38
1.6 movement was just in another level, not comparable to csgo movement
2016-06-05 23:13
I loved the movement in 1.6 but once crouch hopping/silent running caught on it started to get a little ridiculous.
2016-06-05 23:14

even before the silent run came up, the movement had 100 times more depth than what csgo movement has.
2016-06-05 23:59
How the fk is movement in 1.6 easier than csgo? lmao. Retarded kids these days pretending they know shit lol. In order to bhop in 1.6, you gotta jump and crouch. Basically, it's tricky to bhop in 1.6. In csgo, all you need to do is jump. Cs devs made it this way so anybody can bhop in csgo without a problem. not so much in 1.6.

You do if you want to do it properly. Its called stand-up bhop. You get more speed with it and you can do longer bhops.

My point was that it's not required from a technical standpoint to execute bhops, and yes there are techniques you can use like you said to increase the result of the bhop.

CS:S movement was so f@#king easy, easy bhops as you can see proven by LOLYOU and Phoon
2016-06-06 00:08
by "better movements", it means 1.6 allowed for high skill in movement. Theres a lot of stuff you could do aside from bhop, liek gstrafe and the movement allowed for neat tricks like getting onto little ledges without jumping by using that crouch hop technique. CSGO its all the same, limited movement by nerfing bhop, ppl will mostly play the same style, thats y u cant even distinguish individual pros from their movements except for a few (like JW). The only new and cool thing in CSGO is the runboost

movement in 1.6 was the hardest part of the game if we talk about semipro or prolevel. there is a big gap between semipro players and pro players JUST CAUSE OF MOVEMENT. in 1.6 we got many young talents. sweden mjaomode community (molander etc.) + keiz manne and other sick players. in russia we got seized hally and other players. all of this guys played 1.6 for years and they didnt even reach top10 anyway. it was all about lan experience and movement. and after it about aim. 1.6 was the hardest game to master ever. when in csgo every year we got new talents who can play on toplevel and just get top4 on major or some shit like that. in go u need only aim, in 1.6 u need brain. In CS:GO you basically just glide across the ground and lose almost no speed after landing. In 1.6 you lose a LOT of speed after landing on the ground. That's the number 1 reason 1.6 movement > CS:GO movement imo.

2016-06-06 12:17
cs 1.6 movement, sound, hitreg > csgo
2016-06-06 20:50
I think that you can achieve similar movement (nowhere near exact) if you put the time into it. For the past two weeks I've been focusing on BHops and headshots and can go 25-5 with 70% HS ratio + string together about 4-6 bhops usually. Idk if I would call 1.6 better, but it fit in that era, I think the CSGO still has lots of balancing to do IMO.
2016-06-06 21:03
you can never do this in csgo

I won't claim that I was good at 1.6 but I still can say that GO's movement feels more glidey. 1.6 along with Q3 had the most crisp, precise feel of movement.

2016-06-08 20:47
Movement does not equate to bhopping. Movement in 1.6 encompassed so much more than simply being able to bunny hop (duck peaking, ladder manipulation, recoil resetting, etc) and is what made 1.6 a game with such a higher skill ceiling than csgo. Honestly though, the game with the greatest movement ever is team fortress classic (TFC, not that TF2 shit):
