r8 your english, please, it's for my home project. Add your mm rank too, ty. [1] - Beginner - I do not speak any English. [2] - Elementary - I can say and understand a few things in English. [3] - Pre-Intermediate - I can communicate simply and understand in familiar situations but only with some difficulty. [4] - Low Intermediate - I can make simple sentences and can understand the main points of a conversation but need much more vocabulary. [5] - Intermediate - I can speak and understand reasonably well and can use basic tenses but have problems with more complex grammar and vocabulary. [6] - Upper Intermediate - I speak and understand well but still make mistakes and fail to make myself understood occasionally. [7] - Pre-advanced - I speak and understand well but still make mistakes and fail to make myself understood occasionally [8] - Advanced - I speak and understand very well but sometimes have problems with unfamiliar situations and vocabulary. [9] - Very Advanced - I speak and understand English completely fluently

Arguing with stupid people is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are at chess, the pigeon will just knock the pieces over, shit on the board, and then fly away thinking it won. Edit- If you think that Hungary is 1st world then you need to do some geography lessons.

2016-08-12 13:49
The person is obviously asking somebody because of irrational reason and feels pressure to ask it instead of asking with the intent of an actual and meaningful answer. Similar idioms exist in many other languages, one of them being German, so this is not really a decent test.
2016-08-11 19:51
It's not an idiom, though, or a real test, despite the fact your answer appears to have satisfied my pretentious compatriot.
2016-08-11 22:38
Did it satisfy you? (Given the nature of this test of course)
2016-08-12 03:14
It would've if you'd left all the stuff about idioms out. There is no hidden meaning in that sentence, it's just a simple translate.
2016-08-12 13:30
The person does something even though it no longer makes sense.

sadly no, #161 was correct though.
2016-08-11 21:14
An equivalent answer to #161, congratulations! Unfortunately there is no prize, as it doesn't prove comprehension and if anything, raises serious doubts about the examiners competence.

lol, how on earth does 226 = 161. 161 is exactly right, it is about someone who is asking a question out of 'irrational compulsion'. (for example he could be b8ing on hltv.) this would mean that he does not actually seek a real answer. 226 mentions nothing about irrational compulsion (the main topic of the sentence). Also, 226 says 'no longer' this is wrong because that would imply that in the actual sentence, the person originally wanted a real answer, however it says rather than, suggesting that he never wanted a real answer.
2016-08-11 23:10
'The person does something even though it no longer makes sense.' is an actual definition of the phrase 'irrational compulsion' and in his own words too, unlike mister 161 which repeats the original text back to us. It suggests he never expected an answer, not that he didn't want one. Either way it's a shit question which demonstrates nothing beyond being able to translate the words 1:1 into your native language.

It suggests he never expected an answer, not that he didn't want one. No it does not. I'm sorry but it means that he did not want one.
2016-08-11 23:28
I don't think you can claim such a thing based on that sentence.
2016-08-11 23:31

You are pretty much right. Think of it as b8ting on hltv. I could say '90% of polish people are poor' I would say this out of sheer irrational compulsion, I do not seek the actual % of people who are poor in poland (A real answer).

2016-08-11 17:52

2016-08-11 17:53
The correct way to write that would be "I have studied English since I was 7" or "I have been studying English since I was 7"
2016-08-11 17:56
Wrong. "I am studying English since I was 7" means that I have studied English since I was 7 and I am still studying it.
2016-08-11 17:55
If you say "I have studied English since I was 7" means that you are no longer studying it.

pretty sure you know your language better than English if your score is 7. Maybe you fail to write essay's or grammatically correctly, but it doesn't mean you're better at other language without good vocabulary

Lol, those retards replying with 7+. They don't even know OP posted an IELTS grading system or at least it looks like it. They'll get a 5,5 max, lol. However, I think IELTS test is retarded, sometimes given topics do not corellate with your interests and you have to push the shit out to keep the conversation / continue writing.
2016-08-12 01:03
Well, that really depends on the person. I started watching English cartoons when I was around 2. I'm 16 now and I feel I get little to no benefits from school. From what I have noticed people around me don't really know English that well. Even my 8th-grade teacher knew less about the subject (actually got in trouble because I corrected her every single day, thinking about it I kinda feel bad).

I think, my level is 6th. I can understand around 80% of what my opponent is talking, but I also can make mistakes because of my low-mid word's dictionary. And I still can't use english times well, because we have only 3 in russian language and it's a little bit hard. I have experience in discussing with holland (internet), german (in real life) and they said that my english level is higher than most of russians. My MM rank is LE, was supreme once
