I go to school in Sweden and there are 3 ways of getting in to university - technical physics: Grades, University Exam, Phys/Math test. Grades are the most common method of entry

better grades better outcome if u go for the easy studyline loads of ppl gonna go it so might be harder in future to get a decent position for example everybody studies "economic" lines those ppl are just one of XX.000 the market is basically fed with them so going for study without good grades and just trying to get in is pretty bad imo

2016-12-02 16:08
ofc not a shot but its quite hard to come into a company maybe you rly want to cause much more ppl are going to apply for the postion i mean if u get your bachelor u have it just feels like every person whos going to study after regular school is either choosing some economic stuff or they want to become a teacher

Om du i stort sett bara hade A:n i 1:an och 2:an borde ju B som snittbetyg i 3:an räcka för teknisk fysik.

depression is not age related, imo it is related to lack of achievements. The thing is that this lack of achievements gets more latent as you get older and you see yourself falling way behind the other ones and starts to think that you are the reason behind it.

its not really lack of achievements either it depends on the person. it can be family related, bad home life, bad social life any number of things can lead to depression. its completely dependent on the individual, i suffered through depression all of last year and that was during the period of time where i achieved the most (school and sports). not gonna get into what caused it as that is personal but lack of achievements isn't a the cause of depression its an actual mental illness and can strike at anyone, the best thing (and the hardest thing to do) is to admit you have a problem and seek help. my friends come to me and begged me to seek help and it was the best thing that i have ever done. that being said everyone is different and there is no one cure for depression its just about finding what works for you.

Yeah I am really tryharding English on a forum, HLTV nonetheless... Anyways i'm 18 and on my 2nd last semester before I will be searching for a university and let me tell you this; if you're going around forums trashtalking people, then there is no way you're over 15 years old... Or you have 0 education and bad parents By the way, B's are not good enough if I want direct entry to engineering physics.

Dropping one grade lower should still not cause a depression.. It's common sense to use variation in your sentences. Why would you type ''im also'' twice when the latter is not even necessary? Is your goal to use all effort possibly to create rather simplistic sentences. I would be annoyed with myself if I was in your socks. I'm not really trashtalking you, see it more as criticism. As a student who repeatedly achieves the highest scores in all subjects I just expected more.

1. I was being ironic, sorry if you couldn't catch that. My tip is, take things you hear on the internet with a grain of salt instead of gullibly swallowing everything you hear. 2. It is not common sense, it is something each and everyone are educated and to what degree depends on their education. Why would I type "im also" twice when the latter is not necessary? Once again you fail to understand that most people don't care for grammar nor correct usage of the language when they're casually browsing HLTV, me being one of them. Pseudo-intellectuals like you try to correct irrelevant mistakes and fail to grasp the larger picture/context in a casual text. 3. If you honestly think I put any effort in to writing my first post, then I don't know what more to say to you... I am surprised you are so persistent in your cause when it will benefit you in no way. 4. I don't need your criticism and I doubt anyone here needs it unless they specifically asked for it, save it for school. I also don't understand where your expectations are derived from? TL;DR: Please read the whole text before you respond after having read the first line.

By the way calling my English pure garbage is kind of like judging a book by its cover. If there is one thing they teach in school it is not to do that. You know nothing of my English skills and i'm pretty sure they're superior to yours regardless.

Well, the userid feature can be used to have an approximated perception of how long the user has been registered on the site. If you then have multiple accounts with lower userids you are forced to prove you own/owned them. That can be a difficult task without sufficient evidence.

2016-12-01 22:10
it's not normal but its very common these days..you shouldnt feel depressed as you grow older.. you have to get rid of it immedietaly so it doesnt become a habit.. easier said then done I know.. you have to work on it day by day.. find a hobby, listen to music, watch lots of comedy, and HANG out with your friends..most important...and dont think too much about serious subjects because it can get you depressed so quickly...but remember, you have to work on it day by day.. it wont go away unless you face the problem
2016-12-01 22:12
Man, sometimes age is not a factor, but at this age is the mostly bad lifestyle that will promote a depression. During the winter, this "bad mood" lack of happiness is more common than during the summer. You basically need to boost your serotonin levels (and you don't do that playing cs). Try to go out for a run or a walk, in the first week is a pain in the ass but after that is addicting and you'll feel better. A Vit D3 supplementation during the winter might help, since the lack of sun leads to a vitamin D deficiency, which leads to depression. Also, it's no harm to look for advice and talk about what creates this anxiety in yourself.

Yes, it's also called Seasonal affective disorder, SAD or seasonal depression, it's very common and usually starts with fall and resolves at the end of winter. Go to your gp and he can help you (dietary supplements, phototherapy, other advices and also light antidepressants). Anyway don't worry at all since it is a very common condition, do not be afraid to go to your doctor and tell him the situation.
2016-12-02 22:14
not necesarily, it depends on your environment. I find this spotify playlist helpful, it may not be your fav genre of music, but the tone and beat is so "happy" themed, open.spotify.com/user/myplay.com/playlis.. and find something you love to do. Please dont get depressed, Ive been through it and untreated depression actually reduces your hippocampal volume, you wont be able to remember shit and your brain will look like a sponge. so stay happy, do what you love, stop thinking about growing old. Get a girlfriend, like it or not, someone you love and have feelings for like a girlfriend would increase your happiness(if its a healthy relationship ofcourse). and last but not least, Dont play CS:GO (at least for the time being). sorry HLTV, but as a psychology student, i have to recommend that
2016-12-01 22:27
good comment, as i said ive barely been playing for the last few months as i dont really have the time and when i do im too tired, only a few SP games every now and then
2016-12-01 22:26
not even that, the general community the little rages, even if ure not a salty loser, it still affects you if u lose, or your team doesnt listen to you, you know... Typical CSGO stuff.
2016-12-01 22:29
instead of staying away from the game, maybe he should actually do the opposite: play with only the most braindead russians he can find until he learns to fucking laugh about it and not take them too seriously instead of just getting salty as fuck and carrying that around all day its a hard lesson, but i think i am personally better off for having learned it, it actually helps me deal with annoying people irl and in other games too :) you just have to remember its just a game and you dont heff to be mad

Really nice comment. A thing that I'd like to ask is how can I overcome the hardest part of improvement in depression, the very beginning. I feel like being stuck here because of the depression itself, just like you said a healty relationship and such as would help a lot but I'm not able to get one because I look depressed, and I just can't act happy. I hope I wrote everything clearly as English is obviously not my first language, feel free to correct my mistakes.

10$ per Hour of Theraphy sessions lol, no sa. i got over mine by just being my little self again. My little self wouldnt sit in front of the T.V. my little self would go bike ride through the street with friends, luckily for me i had friends to help me get through it, cause they understood what was going on with me. I dont know what best suits you or is comfortable for you to do, bur u just gotta lose one habit that you know may cause the depression, for me it was: losing alot in different games and therefore feeling like i suck at everything and cant do anything right, and when i identified that, and i changed everything.

From my experience life is depressing, just the cycle of school, job work to work to live to work, then you retire it gets good for a bit then u fucking die so. Really life is depressing but don't let those motions bother you, everyone has that problem. Also just all the social media shit and news etc. makes everyone fuckin neurotic in some way, it's common to have mental illness nowadays, but like I said, you do need to not let it bother you.
2016-12-01 22:21
18 and crying even though you will most likely live to like 70+ plz. just check ur hormones and stop cry.
2016-12-01 22:32
The reason this happens is because people are stupid. What I mean by stupid is that they join this never ending circle where they start living the same day over and over again without having anything to look forward to. You do the same things, meet the same people, do the same jobs you don't like which will not only get you depressed, it will get you killed. People become satisfied with a shit life then wonder why they're depressed. I'm giving you this life lesson for free because #FaZeUp!!!!!!

Dont try to get better what you do in your days, you have to change what you do, to get different results. Keep that in mind and dont waste your life like so many others. Depression can be the hardest thing in your life, but it will also be the greatest victory. It will be your strength and inspire you. Just don't give up. We never arrive, nether have you arrived into your final conclusion. Bless

yes perfectly normal, lots of guys your age have these feelings its correlated with having a brain and getting older and realizing the world can be a pretty shitty place eventually you'll figure out its better to work to make things better than to be depressed
2016-12-02 14:26
I'm 15 years old and I realise that the world has so many issues and people don't want to change anything like having own opinion, do whatever they like without being told what is better for them. Edit: I don't include murdering and things which can harm the people around you.
2016-12-02 15:27
okay now what are you gonna do about it?
2016-12-02 16:25
Don't be one of 'em and stop believing the TV.
2016-12-03 13:48
no i mean how are you going to solve the issues and change the opinions
2016-12-03 14:28
IDC, I have my own life. Sadly there is no way to do that.
2016-12-03 15:05
well yeah with that attitude...
2016-12-03 15:16
+1 Want to add that medication helps you feel better, but it can completely remove your motivation to actually work to make things better, thereby leaving you with the same initial problem.
2016-12-03 17:22
No dude, getting depression is "extremely" rare.
2016-12-02 14:42
Absolutely. Or I can't talk for real depression but to feel down more often is completely normal because you start understanding the realities of life etc... it's part of growing up.
2016-12-02 14:48
oder?
2016-12-02 14:49
its normal, but to get super depressed is up to you, at the end theres no meaning in life, just help people, do stuff you like, and thats it, taking care of other people is the most satisfying thing ever, get a dog, a job, study shit you like, make friends that like to get fucked up on the weekend, etc, and be happy =D dont think too much about bullshit, just live life
2016-12-02 14:49
Every time I get depressed I listen mad world by gary jules. Would recommend.
2016-12-02 14:55
Go find shit to do, play football or whatever team game(don't go solo gym cuz u won't talk to any1, although it definitely is a confidence booster) And try to reach out to your friends again. This shit won't solve itself. Keep going to school unless you're braindead... then go do a polski job.:-)
2016-12-02 15:00
I don't know if depression is normal to encounter, but surely there is a bubble to pop from getting pampered as a child and things to learn before entering adulthood. Makes sense for depression to get triggered during that process.

Have depressions since im 15, now im 19 and it got a bit better i dont think every second night about suicide anymore and what happens afterlife and so on.. Just live with that it just can get better, if you think seriously about a suicide or hurt youself go to doctor IF YOU WANT otherwise its useless I think a normal depression isnt that terrible just normal
2016-12-02 15:22
a friend once said "I'm depressed for so long that it starts getting fun". It's just the way you perceive the universe around you. you're questioning your existence and that can be very depressing, but if you can translate that to curiosity, to learn and do new things it becomes fun.

2016-12-02 16:43
does medication works for such cases ,just curious
2016-12-02 17:12
Anti-depressants work for about 30% of those who take them. Most people who try them have no positive effects, only terrible side effects like not being able to get a boner for months after starting "treatment". But when it does work it's surely worth it. Just a shame it doesn't work 70% of the time.
2016-12-02 17:59
thanks ,but psychiatrists will give anti depressant almost 90% of the cases, so until you realize it was wrong you're already trapped , besides being sexually fit has a huge part of your daily energy and happiness .
2016-12-02 18:08
Yeah I'm not a big fan of how easily doctors push ADs at all. They should be treated equally as Benzos imo. Only prescribed when absolutely necessary. Only prescribed when other methods have already been tried. But for some reason, before trying anything else, the doctor will prescribe you a random anti-depressant hoping it will work. At least that has been my experience with it.
2016-12-02 18:46
so in this case do you think it's better to go for medications or enhance the daily routine? ,although being depressed won't really give you energy for that like OP said
2016-12-02 19:50
I think in any case of depression, ADs should not be the first attempt to cure it. Like others have mentioned, exercise and just being active in general is the first thing you should look into. Step out of your comfort zone.
2016-12-02 20:57
Protips on how I dealt with my similar situation; -Start working out, everything in life becomes better when you dont look like a little bitch. -Go out and get drunk, dance and act stupid every once in a while(makes me forget about everything else for a while) -Try new things; i.e. travel, drugs(the fun ones), fat chicks etc. -Start taking care of number 1 before anyone else. -Lastly, youre 18 mate. You have some of the best years in your life in front of you, but your life is not gonna change unless YOU do something asbout it.
2016-12-02 17:22

i arent think that too but that the kind of shit people talk about here, so I guessed he wouldnt find nice answers here, but I can see I was wrong :)
2016-12-03 17:15
Depression is something which can be treated through a Clinical Psychologist and through prescription medication. There have been some great pieces of advice here regarding non medical treatments as well. If you are passionate about anything or can find passion, follow it. And do not feel like you cannot talk to people about this. You have loved ones and friends (Even if you have lost touch), who you can talk to. You aren't alone, reach out, you will feel a weight lifted. Good luck buddy!

Look up existential depression. I think there are SOME types of depression that happen just due to the human condition/natural feeling of inferiority from the reality of life, I guess.

care to explain? is that when the comedown hits you or? =]
2016-12-03 15:10
MDMA on saturday leaves you pretty depressed for a few days after, many experience 2-3 days after as worst.

I see. Well I don't do it that often to experience such long comedowns. Sundays can be sometimes tough and that's it for me. But I'm also taking breaks between each time.
2016-12-03 15:38
I often feel almost better the day after, 2-3 days after I'm just empty. Not really sad, but definitely not happy. It's more a feeling of nothingness. No emotions at all. It can last up to a week almost.

In Denmark we've this saying "højt at flyve, dybt at falde" (the higher you fly, the harder you fall). In school I never realized its origins until I got older :P
2016-12-03 15:48
Kinda true, but I think how often you fly is the most important

2016-12-03 22:04
I know :) I've heard suicide tuesday in English haha I'm kinda there right now actually :/ not from mdma tho, but from the 2 day amphetamine/alcohol race this weekend
2016-12-06 16:27
you think only dutch people take drugs on the weekend?
2016-12-03 17:16
Drugs are the solution
2016-12-03 15:17
drugs are a distraction, a way to avoid dealing with your problems. eventually reality will hit you even harder in the face unless you manage to sort it out by the time you withdraw. then again, this is probably more fitting to stress than depression.

Depression only takes over if your head is not ready. In other words, weak minds are open to depression. Do you think the people that changed the world, the important characters of human history, had depression? No, they didn't.
2016-12-03 15:41
You clearly havent got a single clue about what depression is. It's 2016, bro, theres no reason to think the way you think. Seriously, evolve!

I think depression is normal when you get close to 20. (or "depression", maybe not always real depression but something like that.) I'm also feeling it, mainly because of my social life is so shitty. I don't have any good friends, and no girlfriend. I dont trust in people and I dont even like social contacts. Im a bad talker so conversations between me and other people always goes fucked up. I do work and I have money enough for me, even too much. But the social side of my life and the pressure of getting a girlfriends is driving me to depression
