Wifi problem
Portugal picc
Hey. Good evening, I just built a PC for my mom, everything is ready beside having internet. I have a wireless pen, but I can't have internet. I'm able to connect to my wifi, but still can't visit any websites or anything. I wonder if the problem is the pen, since it was pretty cheap, but I don't think so. I'm able to connect a public/paid network. Although from time to time even my own home network doesn't show up either, so that's odd. I've spent hours at Google trying to figure it out, but I can't fix it. I think it's the DNS settings that are fucked up. The wifi pen is VODOOL Mini USB WIFI 150M Wifi Adapter. The PC has Windows 10, with MSI B250M and Intel Pentium G4560. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Forgot to mention, Windows found the drivers for the pen, and I even tried installing the original drivers for it that came with the pen too.

The windows was just installed fresh, and I also tried on my own PC and doesn't work either. I could try reinstalling though I guess.

The PC can't be moved. Although I could try that to know if the problem is from the weak connection, but I kinda doubt it. If that would be the case I think the internet would just be veryyy slow, but isn't, just no internet.

this adapters can recieve mostly half or less then half of your speed internet conection, when i installed this adapter firstly it conected and disconected in a minute , changed the position of pc and put it in higher place then it got conected , if i move like 5or 10 cm pc it will disconect these kind of adapters need to find perfect spot of pc :D

I probably have 50mb speed by wireless, so even half or a quarter of that would still be pretty good in my case. But I might try moving it around.

this is a fairly common problem with windows 10. You need to get a different adapter, make sure you get one that states it will work with windows 10.

I can still connect to a public network though, would it do that if it was a windows/pen compatibility issue?

when you connect to the public wifi can you actually browse the internet?

No because it's paid, but I can connect to the their own web page that allows for payment, which I'm guessing requires internet to do.

I would still say compatibility issue is mostly likely. Connect yo your wifi, run command prompt and type: "ping 8.8.8.8" without the quotes, if that is successful its probably a DNS issue. If you get an error its the adapter
