Can confirm. Even with what is considered bad pay in Sweden (I think €2100 is the minimum state-pay if you are over 18), living in Stockholm will cost €800-€1000 in rent and I mean, come on, a beer is like €6/7. Everything is pretty expensive here.

Fucking Scandinavia is worse than people think when it comes to economy Everybody got money, but everybody broke by end of month, even high paid grown men Just breathing cost money in Scandinavia, everybody gotta pay this and that all the time Just getting your car verified for driving on roads cost same as a used car in shit countries Then gasoline, most expensive in the world

And in most countries these things are minor things police don't even care about Just give them a small quick buck or get a warning In scandinavia they charge you fucking 400 euro for driving in bus lane and forgetting seat belt and silly small things They even charge each individual like 300 euro annually or twice a year to pay for tv license When you buy tv they act cool ans want you to be in their system, that system goes to government and gov send you bill for tv license You gotta prove you don't even own cable or satellite and ONLY use games and DVD in order to avoid that fee

#247 is not true at all. Take Germany as an example. Theirs traffic system is really great and they don't 500e ticket on you for seatbelts and the cost of living is pretty low compared to income. In scandinavia income is higher than in Germany, but for example, if you would like to buy an alcohol, you hadn't to pay half of your wage as in Norway.
2017-05-04 14:22
Damn in russia ppl driving indeed like crazy. I am from finland and i used to visit in russia for cheap gasoline and cigarettes. The drivers are either drunk or just mad-mans. Once i was driving up on hill, where we could see only 5 meter forward on the road before the road started go down again. So with 5 meter vision, this russian mad man behind me, decided to bypass me. Right after he managed to do it, there was big truck coming behind the hill. However this guy couldnt see a shit but just go and bypass :D I was driving 80km/h which was the limit there. But in russia nobody gives a shit about speed limits.

i think rich is when you get to a point where you dont think about how much money you have left when you buy something. ofc im not talking about 1 mile yachts or giant mansions etc. if you own a high end mercedes, live in the most expensive part of your city, goes on vacation several times a year in exotic places, own a vacation home and having the money ready for emergencies, then id label you as rich, or at least wealthy

What do you mean source? I am Danish. You get government grants when you are studying and 18+. It isn't a whole lot of money, but you have to choose to get student loans also - they aren't there by default. In other words, if he has to pay anything back, it is only the minority, and it is something he has chosen.

Yup. No tuition and free grants. The idea is that the grants are technically an "Investment", with the foundation that the vast majority of people will pay back what they were given in taxes, over their lifetime, because of their extended (and free) education. It is, however, not always the case - particularly for foreign/exchange students and the like, which is currently a debate raging here.

It is like that in all of Scandinavia I think. In Norway you get 110k NOK every year as a loan, and if you complete your exams, you only have to pay back half of the loan. You will also get a scholarship on top to help you pay for your rent, that is not a loan, that's something you get Almost all classes uses English books, and it's not hard at all to find English classes

That's cool, and a good choice. If you are an international student in Norway you are also 100% guaranteed a "student apartment" that the university organizations own. The rents are way lower there, and I think you'll only have to pay like 4500 NOK per month. I'm sure Denmark has the same kind of thing though.

You'll get 21k NOK In August, 8k in sep. oct. nov. and des. Then 21k in january, then 8k in feb. march. Apr. may. Jun. and July And if you pay 4.5k NOK a month for your rent, you'll have enough money to live by I don't know what you mean by worker/student program, but it's not too hard to find a part time job. If you for example join a student club, you can be a bartender at the student parties and get paid that way

So , Norway also pays to international students ? Please bring this to Portugal !!!!! The only "if" i can find is prolly the language barrier , and that afraid of " racism " you know ? That "worker/student program" i was talking about , its something like this : In portugal we can work during the day , from 9a.m to 5 p.m , and study during the "night" period. from 6p.m to 11p.m in order to pay the university and house food etc.

I'm not 100% sure what you'll get as an international student when it comes to loan/scholarship but you can read it here lanekassen.no/nb-NO/Languages/Financial-.. Language barrier can be difficult. Even though everyone in Norway can speak English, people will probably speak Norwegian to each other so you can't understand what they say :P but it shouldn't be a big problem And don't worry too much about racism. Norwegian students are very liberal and nice. Especially when you are from Portugal/Spain because we love those countries. You'll obviously find a few bad apples, but it's not socially acceptable to be racist in Norway either, so if someone is racist towards you, he'll be called out by the other Norwegians 100% About the student program, almost every class is recorded and streamed so that you can watch the whole class whenever you want on your pc, so if you have to work in the day, it wouldn't be a problem at all, since you can just turn on your pc and watch the stream from the class that day

2017-05-04 15:05
the only thing is that you do need to work 43 hours per month to receive the student grant, and that only applies if you are an EU-citizen(which you are). Danish citizens automatically apply for the grant without having to work. So if you are from EU, get a part time job, youre getting 1000 eur per month after taxes with the grant+salary. Also, as far as I know, you only get 5 years in grants(60 months), so when that runs out youre on your own.(Still enough to get a masters degree though) Source: Latvian studying in Denmark

You are an imbecile if you cannot comprehend the difference between something being funded by taxes, and then an individual "paying it back" via taxes. First of all, it is not at all impossible to simply move out of Denmark after you complete your education, meaning you will not contribute a single cent to the economy - and not pay any Danish tax. Government grants are funded not by the individual, but by the collective. That is how and why it can operate.

You will pay it back cause you have higher taxes in Denmark than in most countries. You don't have to individually pay for it but all of the people including you will pay for them in your later life.. so you are definitely wrong about not paying it back in taxes.. It's the same in Finland so i know and i actually realise how taxes work as well..

Dont be stubborn - the guys tell you real things of how the financial rivers are flowing but you keep being stubborn about "not paying back the grants given to students". Of course none of them has to pay it back in a form of debts returning, but they (danish students) will certanly do pay these money included in regular casual life payments existing in Denmark. If you dont see the line "educational repayment" this doesnt mean this amount is not shared in other lines
2017-05-04 14:51

Do you not understand that a person can simply leave Denmark after finishing their education? Unlike the U.S. or even Norway, there is no personal accountability. I wrote, immediately, that the grants are funded by taxes. I just dispute the idiotic assertion that there is personal liability. There very clearly is not.
2017-05-04 15:09
2 replies
Then think about it this way - if a student leaves Denmark after graduating who do you think is to cover these grants depences then? The guys just tried to explain these grants are payed back nonetheless. Not sure if this was about words misunderstanding.

You are the one being defensive and arrogant. Instantly when someone states that you will pay it back in taxes you become aggressive. You are essentially paying for your own education, healthcare ect. throughout your life - even if you don't use it. That's how the system works. So yes, you do pay for your own education. Just not directly. E: But you pretty much stated your ignorance when you presumed that Singapore has a bad educational system. And got rekt. Hard. Fry:D

For you there are student loans. Given to and paid back by a singular individual. You "pay it back". Danish people don't. We might indirectly pay it back through our taxes, but it certainly is NOT the same thing. If you do not understand the difference between having student debt and not having student debt, in term of having student debt, then you are as big of an idiot as the singapoorean.

NO, basicly let’s say you study in denmark and get 800 euros per month for 16 months and graduate. After that you don’t have anything to pay off.. "But you will still pay it back in taxes" You’re not forced to stay in Denlark and youvcan just move out.

Obviously, now if you get a job in Denmark which I'm guessing most Danes do since Denmark still exists, you will pay it back 100% with the high tax rate.

Zürich is one of my favorite places to travel right next to Zug. Is it more or less expensive to live in Zurich compared to Zug?
2017-07-09 01:17

It's less expensive to live in Zürich compared to Zug. Lots of rich people live in Zug because it's generally cheaper, especially the taxes in Zug are a lot less (which is their main reason to live there). Zürich is definitely one of the most expensive cities around the whole globe. It's nice here but everything is fucking expensive. A nice house in Zürich isn't payable if you're not rich as fuck (multi millionaire).

Pretty much everything essential is subsidised and I (depending on how you view it) got lucky with the death of my Grandfather, allowing me to live with my friends, which pay me rent, etc. Rich is a point of view, my idea of poor could be someone else's rich. Cool story bro, A car here can easily cost you a few hundred k for a normal car. Housing costs 300k+ for a tiny 3 bedroom flat. LOL We are #1/#2 country with the highest cost of living, besides Hong Kong

IT contractor I get paid 7-8 grand after taxes each month. Don't get any benefits though. I need to open up a 401k or something. I'm still broke. 175 grand in total debt I need to pay off. 60 grand is college debt, and the rest is debt my pops accumulated with failed businesses. funny thing...college didn't do anything for me. I dropped out 40 credits away from my degree, because I went delinquent on the non-loan part of my payments. Got some cisco and microsoft certs, and finally landed a job about 18 months ago. currently on my second contract. if you want to go into IT, you can pretty much do it on your own. college is a waste of time for IT.
