Less people will fakeflag, so people from countries like yours will not be as hated as you are right now. (Since less baits). Baits will still happen, unless mods goes full nazi mode, baits will still happen, but the amount of baits will decrease heavily and hltv forum will be usable again.

Unless people are really dumb, I don't think those baits will be popular. But it still not the main reason of this change, the goal of making it ip-related is to make harder to make such baits, that are by far the most popular on this site right now, so people wont waste their time to keep baiting all the time, leaving a lot of space for real threads. The problem is too much baits, making hltv 90% bait 10% real thread. Even if we make 50% bait and 50% real thread, its already a victory. Right now HLTV forum is only baiters trying to bait other baiters.

I started to fakeflag because of the 7-1 thing back then, but I never used any flag of a "relevant country", always flags that everyone knows only fakeflaggers uses. @edit I wasnt ashamed of the 7-1 thing, I was just annoyed because everytime I thought someone replied to my posts, it was just a random retard saying "7-1".

Because people puts a random flag and start to spam threads with random bullshit, and most of time they do it to makes a random country look bad (brazil, turkey, russia, usa). The problem starts with people spamming the threads, making hltv 90% troll/spam threads and 10% real discussions. Making it ip-related or removing flags at all would drop the number of trolls heavily, since most of baits here are related to nationalities.

wouldnt matter. Right now im in Toronto and i would have a canadian flag. Yesterday it wouldve been a French one. And tomorrow it would be a Dutch one (home) For people that travel a lot it wouldnt make sense. Besides its ez as shit to have vpn on.

How many people there travels a lot? Only a few. And even if its easy to have a VPN, only a few uses and/or knows how to use it. Again, it's not a fix that will remove all the trolls like a magic stick, it's just a simple move that can make HLTV a better place with less trolls and less useless spammy threads.

Ehm using vpn is easier than logging in HLTV. Literally piece of cake, not to mention on mobile (lots of free and fast apps) How do you know its just a few? Its gonna do literally nothing to the trolls. If a troll wants to troll, he will know how to use vpn/tor/proxy whatever. IP flags will only make things annoying for those who travel a lot or live abroad. I love my Dutch flag, i dont want it to change coz im abroad, doesnt make sense at all

Easy or not most people dont use it. Trolls who wants to troll will have to download a VPN app and configure it and if he joins without the VPN his flag will change back and people will see that he's a fake flagger trying to bash other people's nationality. And how it doesnt make sense at all? Im 100% sure you're just an exception and 99,9% of the users doesnt travel as much as you do, keeping something that helps trolls to annoy people just because someone from NL likes his flag is what doesnt make sense.

So if I move to the UK, as a dutchman, I have to use a vpn with Dutch IP just to make sure I dont have that English flag on my profile. Thats why it doesnt make sense. Not all people living in a country are also the citizens of that nation. Forcing this doesnt make sense and its stupid. Especially with the naive thought that it would stop trolls/fakeflaggers :/

Not all people, but the majority of it does. A rule should not be made for a few exceptions, and that's what you are, an exception. I can guarantee you most people here doesnt even use the flags of their nationalities, including me. The problem of HLTV is the way the trolls started to troll. As a Brazilian I hate seeing non-brazilians using my flag and trolling people to make people hate us. With this VPN thing there wont be so many trolls in HLTV, trolls will always exists and they will always find a way to troll, but with the VPN thing lots of them will not do too much work just to keep baiting on this site, meaning less trolls.
