It's not too unreasonable tbh, they're getting a few decent placings now and apart from the top 4 the rest of the rankings are pretty open to challenge for

SK TOP 1 :D
2017-06-20 01:01
sk top 1 without winning any tier 1 event this year :D its like beeing #1 in tennis without winning any grand slam.
2017-06-20 01:03
Well both rankings go by points so it is how it is
2017-06-20 01:04
it doesnt reflect reality tho.

You're both right. They're No1 on HLTV (however much anyone actually values their rankings xD) because they have the most points but they haven't won a big event this year, and they don't have very many series wins against their rivals for No1, Astralis, FaZe and G2; the only one I can think of is beating FaZe at Sydney. The next 6 weeks with Cologne and the major will hopefully give us a clear No1.
2017-06-20 01:12
i tought i understood how hltv ranking works until this month when they placed sk top1 while sk didnt win any tier 1 events and havent even been very consistent either , they lost in groups 3 months ago back to back in tier 1 events. on the other hand astralis for example won or been finalist on every single tier 1 tournament this year except esl finals . i really dont understand this ranking system anymore.

The hardest part of building a ranking system imo is how quickly or slowly old results are no longer counted. HLTV kinda tries to do that with their three different numbers adding to one total but I'm not sure if it really works, seems like there's crossover between some of the numbers
2017-06-20 01:55
Hltv ranking focuses too much on recent activity and diminish too much lan's from 3 or more months ago . In tennis for example once you get the points from a specific tournament you keep the same amount until next year when they reset. Here the points you obtained in march decrease by 50% by july ... this is stupid because it creates paradoxes like sk top1 right now

a championship with sk, faze, ast, optic, north is tier 2?
2017-06-20 02:29
Even with iem sydney win , sk top1 ranking is not justified. I remember top3 after iem sydney and i think its legit to this day. Its something wrong with this ranking system.

there haven't been even any major with this roster
2017-06-20 02:22
didnt u know? finishing 2nd at tier 2 tournament = +200 points no but seriously I expected them to go 9th considering very few points are separating teams there.. but 6th? wtf this was a tier 2 tournament
2017-06-20 01:22
its achievement for #11 team to reach final and win a map vs SK, so they got +84 points not that much at all

They got only 84 points. That is fine for finishing second in a tier 2 tournament. hltv.org/ranking/teams/2017/june/19 hltv.org/ranking/teams/2017/june/12 Do u actually think VP,Navi,Optic,Gambit & HR can beat fnatic at their current form. Fnatic even beat north in a bo5 even though its only online.Actually they were under raked until last week since they were not much participating in LANs in the last 2-3 months. Also Their online performance is really good.
2017-06-20 01:32
Well the ranking works on recent performance so as long as you do great on a event you are going up in the ranking for sure

Well they did 2-0 Gambit then kinda rekt IMT who has been looking really good with kNg. Lost very closely to CLG more of a choke than being bad. Won easily over C9 and could have won over SK if they managed to win the pistol or if olof hit the shot on taco jumping out window. Fnatic didnt get momentum in the second half which lead them to cool down.

it deserves more, north should go down
2017-06-20 01:25
If fnatic do better than North on the next event they will take their place

It's a fair placing if you look at the teams below them - fnatic are simply better. Right now they should probably be 5th instead of North, but we haven't really seen enough of them to justify them being higher than that.
2017-06-20 01:35
They will take North's place next event

Well that's their own fault, maybe win their games like everyone else next time? You could think of it like going out in groups but instead the groups already happened. Online or not if you want to get to the LAN they should win their online games otherwise they dont deserve their points.
