overclock difference?
Europe npH
hey guys, can you tell me how big difference makes when you overclock a cpu, like i5-7600K overclocked vs. i5-7600 (not oc) if you got it with a gtx 1060 6gb and 16gb ram, lets say... is it possible to demonstrate me how big difference it makes (in csgo? fps?) or anything other depends? i know every overclocked cpu can be different but you get my question, a general performace difference...

if you increase the coreclock for 20% you will get 20% faster cpu. That's not 100% correct but it's a good guideline. so if you get minimum 200fps in cs:go,you would get minimum 240fps after overclocking. and the overall overclocking abilities depend on the aftermarket cooler and motherboard you're using.

Honest answer: Basically feeding your CPU more voltage to push a higher clockspeed.

depends on how much you overclock it. even a 100-200 mhz overclock is noticeable. i don't want to get in details with overclocking and setting voltage but i will tell you this. if you can get a stable overclock at the perfect voltage you will definitely see a difference. 5-15 fps depending on the game. sometimes even more.

so when im a free time player and im used to laptop 50fps and ill get a pc with 200 fps, it makes no big difference (like 200 vs 205-215) ... :-)

u should be getting 300fps stable with that :D
2017-08-13 18:17
i call bullshit. besides you can't even overclock without getting cancer temps on skylake. had to delid my 7700k to reach 4.8 without mad heat.

have 360 rad - got 80 degrees with stock clocks. take some pills for your cough instead dumbass.

i can smell bullshit from afar and this smells really bad. first of all look at your flag man. you live in the desert where it is always above 50 degrees celsius. and with liquid cooling it should never get it above 60 degrees. so nt fag.
2017-08-18 19:05
google the following "i7 7700k water cooling high temps" and you'll be amazed. you're honestly beyond stupid if you actually believe i live in the UAE but hey, what should i expect from UK kek. although it never should it will because intel uses trash TIM between the IHS which is why people delid lol. i shouldn't have to explain this to you. here's some reading for you anyways

who cares about i9 and skylake-x you have skylake. and if you had liquid cooling and not a cheap radiatior you wouldn't have temperature problems. but it is expected when you are a third worlder you can't afford liquid cooling.
2017-08-18 19:10
my pc costs more than your monthly salary, and that is if you even have a job. also, you're not even able to properly read as the goddamn article says "chips still use low-quality TIM" what part of still are you unable to comprehend? your spring break needs to end right now buddy.

my shop just made i5-7600K the same price like i5-7600 ... is it better to have the 76K one when i DONT wanna overclock for now? secondly, can i overclock it later after using or not possible later? but i would have to buy a different mother board, i wanted a MSI B150M NIGHT ELF for the i5-7600 but a friend of mine told me "B-motherboards are not friendly with -K cpus... im pretty noob at hardware thx for patience :-)

PURE POWER 10 400W Intel Core i5-7600 MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GAMING X 4G this is what ive made today but im not sure yet if its a good idea all together, compatible i started with: (ADATA SSD SU800 256GB (ASU800SS-256GT-C) ARCTIC F12 Silent ARCTIC Freezer 13 Corsair RM650x 650W Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 16GB (2x8GB) 3000MHz CL15 Black Fractal Design Define C Intel Core i5-7600K MSI GeForce GTX 1060 ARMOR 6G OCV1 MSI Z170A SLI PLUS ) but i feel its pretty overkill for me, im used to laptop and i have a real life, i dont need such a good pc, also it costs like 170% of the first list

u gonna need a z series mobo if u wanna overclock later, but should be ez 300fps cuz 4.2ghz turbo clocks

- but what if i get the first list with i5-7600 without overclocking? - would 3000MHz RAM help to the first lower performance list or its overkill? RAM1: Crucial 16GB DDR4 2400MHz CL17 Dual Ranked or RAM2: Corsair 16GB KIT DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz CL15 Vengeance - 400W power unit enough, isnt it ... dont take too serious my "real life" note, i wanna say im a laptop player and i just wanna have an average pc ... 600e is not enough in my country, the second "overkill" list costs like 1200e here

id get 550w psu just to be sure, i used 2400mhz ddr4 rams overclocked to 2666 cuz it was cheapest if 7600k and 7600 cost the same, go for 7600k cuz of higher clocks doesnt rly matter u get better performance than 7600 on b150/z170 4.2ghz is enough on 7600k to run any game

so there is no problem with i5-7600K + MSI B150M when i dont overclock? (but it cant be overclocked with this mobo), am i right?
2017-08-13 19:57
The 7600k might not work in that board without first being flashed with a bios that supports Kabylake CPUs. You are better off with the chipsets like the Z270, H270 and B250 which launched with the Kabylake intel CPUs.

Better to go for Ryzen (1600x or 1700) to be honest.

i dont have experience with others than i5 but ryzen 1700 costs 9K while i5-7600 costs 6K in my country
2017-08-13 19:35
i5-7600 or i5-7600k? Check out price of 1600x also.

i5-7600 = 6000 = 230e i5-7600k = 6400 = 246e AMD RYZEN 5 1600X = 7000 = 269e AMD RYZEN 7 1700 = 8800 = 338e im buying the whole pc so every 1K (38e) makes difference
2017-08-13 19:54
I would recommend you to wait for 8600k then. It will be announced in a week. But if you need PC right now, I'd better go for Ryzen 1600x if price of CPU+MB is ok for you.

announced in a week..? then the price will be over 300e in my country for sure
2017-08-13 20:32
I'm pretty sure price will be the same as current (7600k). But yeah, in some countries it can be higher because of new.

the new 86K one wont be compatible with my mobo nor even with 270s

why dont you recommend me to buy a i5-7600k?
2017-08-13 20:38
1. i5 has 4 cores/4 threads and it's completely fine if you only play games. For everything else (streaming, video/audio encoding, etc) Ryzen will be better. 2. With i5 you will get a bit higher fps, but Ryzen has better frame time, so game will be more smooth even with lower fps. Watch this video: 3. Ryzen is more futureproof. It's already confirmed that current chipsets will support the following new AMD CPUs. On the other hand Intel's 8-series CPUs will probably require new chipset => new motherboard. So if you buy 7600k now, the best possible option for you in the future will be only 7700k.

1-i dont stream, i dont encode, i dont etc :D 2-ok 3-if i want change in 2 years+ i can buy a new cpu+mobo, mobo is not rly big investment if i say like im getting whole pc for 30K and mobo costs 2K thx for a nice answer btw!
2017-08-13 20:58
Decent motherboard (with overclock support) is 30-50% of CPU cost. :D
2017-08-13 21:06
diff is like 30-40 fps+ i think

it changes maby 80-100 fps oc to 5.0ghz But I changed the i5-7600k to a i7-7700k, and oc it, and it gave me another 100 fps. -i5 7600k oc 5.0ghz all low, 1280x1024 avg 300fps i7 7700k oc 4.9ghz all low 1280x1024 avg 400 fps

Havent benchmarked it, this is just normally what it looks like. depends also on map, on 2v2 dm it a 1100 not that that matters. I told the numbers just to tell the difference between oc, and the i7 and i5.
2017-08-13 21:35
no idea about how much overclocking by x-amount would increase game performance, but there's hardly any reasons not to OC, at least if you have even an decent entry-level air cooler (which you should, even without overclocking).

there is a reason, i dont know how to do it and i dont have a trusty friend, i would let my shop complete the pc
2017-08-13 21:45
You might not know, but all the information is very well documented online. Although I've done overclocking in the past, there was a huge gap inbetween multiple generation of processors where I simply didn't do it up until haswell (4670k). I looked up a couple of articles and went for it and got it done in one evening (including hours upon hours of stress testing). Since then that said 4670k has been stable and fully operational with a "decent" (slightly below average, shit tier chip) overclock.
2017-08-14 16:36
Yeah, overclocking isn't something magical that involves some spectacular skills. Most basic overclocks are just ramping up the CPU multiplier and sometimes adjusting voltages manually, all that you can easily check up from a YouTube video. :p It's got much more starter friendly during the years. You can even do a overclock on your CPU with a program like AI Suite or such. :) BCLK clocks are a different ballgame and finding a optimal setup if you want to go all out for records find the best performance point of your CPU involves some experience about it especially on earlier generations then 6th desktop Intel (Skylake) and usually quite a bit of tinkering. CPU clocks are essential in games like CS:GO which are CPU heavy. Most games aren't as CPU-heavy as CS:GO, only one I can think on the top of my head would be H1Z1. Others are more GPU-optimized which is good.
2017-08-14 21:54
my results with an i7 930 measured with a time demo 2.8 GHz = 202.14 fps 4.0 GHz = 283.86 fps changing the sound card gave me 4.0 GHz = 339.41 fps
2017-08-14 16:47
How did changing sound card increase fps
2017-08-14 21:43
I can think of a few possible reasons out of the top of my head, one probably is the answer but I'd have to test it out or google it to find out: Faster lane, better communication with the CPU and thus faster responses = more time to do other stuff and another possibility is that the card itself processes sound to a further extent then the MB integrated chip before passing it back to the CPU thus reducing CPU load. Pretty sure it's the latter, might be both or even neither. :)
