Is it possible to unlock someones's phone by pointing it to their face while they're asleep?
2017-09-14 01:34
who the fuck cares
2017-09-14 01:35
I do
2017-09-14 01:37
You can simply print out a pic of the person too
2017-09-14 01:37
damn never thought of that!
2017-09-14 01:37
Doesn't work, iPhone X has some kind of 3D scanning for this Face ID feature.

how about using a 3d printer?
2017-09-14 17:10
Dunno, but it will cost you a fortune to print a human-like printed face.

Are you high? Why would it cost a fortune to 3D print a face?

2017-09-14 17:27
Thought high-level realistic printing is expensive asf

dont know, have to be tested. probably not because i think apple can program a simple algorithmen that it doesnt accept it when nothing is moving.
2017-09-14 01:39

no. apple facial scanning technology was thoroughly described at the conference. the front cameras and sensors create a 3D map of the face using 30,000 projected dots. a printed photo will not work.
2017-09-14 01:58
wtf what if I get a pimple or something

its said to work regardless of aging or facial hair. the odds of randomly unlocking someone else's Face ID lock is 1:1,000,000 as opposed to 1:30,000 for touch ID

not FaceID which scan ~30k dots on your face and analyse it.. it won't find those dots on picture

Also just read this article from one of the most relevant german IT-sites (heise.de/newsticker/meldung/Kommentar-iP.. which makes the valid point that you could just shove the phone infront of the owners face before stealing/searching it.

I just hope I still have the option for a password, what if my face gets burnt badly or something?
2017-09-14 17:16
You will have the option but you must pay for it.
2017-09-14 17:22
then you'll enter the passcode as a backup.
