oo, nice i am an actuary as well. Where do you work if it's not a secret?
2017-09-25 11:20
Just want to know but on a scale of 1 to 10 how enjoyable is your job?
2017-09-25 17:07
From what I know(which isn't much) you write reports for companies and doing some random calculations for them
2017-09-25 17:12
Well it's hard to say if it's enjoyable. I love it, it's my dream job. But i would say if you like working by pc the whole day, you know math very well, have some programming skills and have logical thinking, you will like it. In my opinion it is a growing industry. But what i do is, i work for an insurance company, and i am currently responsable for creating the price of car insurance, well not exactly the price, but i calculate the risk of someone getting in a car accident, i am evaluating the likelyhood of that accident resulting in death, broken bones etc. And by getting those risks i create the risk of smth happening for a person depending on gender, age, type of car, the place they are from, and many more factors. But yeah, to be respected as an actuary you have to have master degree as an actuary, i just started my 2nd degree in astrophysics, but kinda regret not going for a doctors degree in acturial mathematics.
2017-09-25 18:37
Where are you working? In the US and Canada (I think) you advance by passing some rigorous exams, so masters degrees are generally not recommended as you can prepare for the exams by self-study.
2017-09-25 18:47
In on of the biggest companie in baltics calles ERGO, you probably won't know it. Well techincally you can get a job as actuary without a masters degree here too, but noone will hire you, and to be a respected specialist you need to be in Latvian actuary association and they only accept you if you have at least a masters degree.

It's really not that much in Scandinavia. The poverty line (relative poverty) in Norway is ~€3000/month Edit: e24.no/makro-og-politikk/loenn/saa-mye-t.. According to this article if you make €6800 a month after tax you're only in the top 26% of households

depends on the country you're living in, in switzerland an average plumber ears 4k a month, now imagine what higher qulified jobs pay you. but then take in consideration that we pay 80 bucks for 2 salads and something to drink in a restaurant
2017-09-26 15:16
brrr, switzerland is so expensive. when i visit my swiss friends they pay most food etc for me, b/c i am currently still in college and earn 500 bucks per month from jobbing as a cashier. they job in a supermarket too and make about 1.2k i think. cant afford shit in basel. also stuttgart is the really wealthy part of germany...
2017-09-27 14:39
dude in germany this is much. in nations like denmark and norway this is bit above average. i know people with a masters degree in germany having less than 2500€ after taxes - and they consider themselves well paid already.
2017-09-26 15:31

Just curious, what do you think of the difference between programers with and without a degree. Also were you self taught too or not? Oh, and on a scale of 1 to 10 how enjoyable is your job? I have too many questions hopefully you will respond to all ;_; . Sorry for bombarding you :c
2017-09-25 20:46
To me having a degree is almost a non-factor. I don't really care if you were taught by youtube, yourself or some fancy school. I have had my fair share of job interviews as employer and to me persona and references together with on the spot factual task testing is the key. I am 100% self taught, started when i was 13. My job is enjoyable because i can watch all danish hltv matches no matter the time, i practically take entire july off to watch tour de france, and i can work whenever i want to. Also i'm not limited by time or place, as long as i can plug in a laptop and internet is available.
2017-09-25 22:47
Hi, im from lebanon and im a cce student im still at university, the best developing companies in lebanon pay like 2500$ for newcomers. I'm actually curious how much is it in denmark? and do you employ people who can only speak english for example ?

2017-09-26 15:51

2017-09-26 19:40
i used to sell skins fulltime 2 years ago, made around 50-100$ a day for 3-4hours work 2.5k a month (didnt pay any taxes) just buy cheap and sell expensive, u need to have contacts aswell
2017-09-26 20:12
Thats pretty cool, why did you quit?
2017-09-26 20:15
no time (was in school) + i got real job so couldnt mix the two u had to stay up late night and sell to bet addicts and little kids when they come home from school XD and ppl only buy skins first 1-2weeks after paycheck so it was inconsistent also in sweden u can only earn 5k€ without paying taxes from a hobby (per year) and i reached that amount twice also skin community is kinda shit atm with all the trading sites and bots
