C9 mainly but also Liquid have historically been invited to tournaments waaaaaaay over their skill at the time just to fill the NA quote. So it seems only fair that they are not for a change. More logical reason would be that the event is in Denmark, just next to sweden and they want Swedish fans to buy tickets. super childish edit btw..
2017-11-14 09:42
To trigger the swedistans Also, I agree on the swedish close to denmark thing. But in my opinion it would be better if it was an NA team just to attract the NA viewers in stream and in the lan itself. Even SK is invited. Liquid and c9 are also looking stronger than NIP

easy to say now when you've seen NiP play at Oakland lmao. Prior to Oakland both Liquid and C9 were better than NiP...
2017-11-15 22:11
No, they weren't. At no point in this year has Liquid or C9 shown that they're definitively better than NiP, at no point in a match up between NiP and C9/Liquid would the NA teams be the favourite to win other than by a small margin. Liquid and C9 get to have their stats padded by playing in NA leagues with tier 4 teams so people think they're better than they are. They're both good teams but honestly i have no idea what you're looking at to make you think C9 and Liquid have been better than NiP this year.
2017-11-15 22:14

Sweden zeromeister
NiP and C9/Liquid have rarely played each other because C9 and Liquid has been playing tier 1 tournaments consistently with fairly decent results against tier 1 teams, while NiP have only attended a few tournaments rofl. The fact that NiP haven't even attended many tier 1 tournaments speaks for itself. Though the fact that NiP beat C9 now 16-4 might change how i see things. But when i wrote my first statement NiP had not played at Oakland yet.
2017-11-15 22:17
"Big events" since August. NiP have played 19 games, they have won 11, lost 8 Cloud9 have played 20 games, they have won 11, lost 9 Liquid have played 24 games, they have won 10, lost 14
2017-11-15 22:40
BRquid and C9 playing against NA teams doesn't change anything because people can just filter stats by big events, and even by team tier (I think this is done by clicking on the stars?). So if they wanted appropiate stats against actual good teams, they can look filter them. The NA excuse doesnt work
2017-11-15 22:20
See comment #135 above.
2017-11-15 22:42
What does that have to do with the NA excuse not working? You just proved me right that you can filter by big events and by team tiers.
2017-11-16 12:09
I said that people think C9 and Liquid are doing better than they are because of stat padding from NA leagues. The guys above think C9 and Liquid are doing better than NiP but when I show the information of only big tournaments it shows that NiP are doing just as well as C9 and far better than Liquid. How do you think you're right?
2017-11-16 12:37
Because my whole argument was that filtering stats rules that point mute? If people think C9 and Liquid are doing better because of stat padding from NA leagues, you can filter the stats to big events and by top 10 teams. I have never seen anyone taking NA pro league into account. Everyone always filters by Big Events or by LAN (which could be kinda bad too cause of events like iBP Masters). The only time I've seen people, including myself, saying Liquid are better than NiP is when they are still riding on the coat tails of ESG Mykonos and ESL NY.

Nip won previous IEM oakland, therefore invite. Blast pro series is as the name suggests almost a showmatch. NiP are quite popular and are therefore invited. :)

IEM Oakland features: Envy, Optic, Renegades and TheMongolz. All these teams are ranked lower than NIP, HOW is it NIP that bothers you the most? Hater much?
2017-11-14 09:38
Because these teams except Renegades all qualified?
2017-11-14 09:42
So my point stands, there is a worse team than NIP invited, but the rage is still vs NIP No sense was made on this day. Also, reigning champions of IEM Oakland..
2017-11-14 09:45
No it doesnt. NiP got invited. The other teams qualified.
2017-11-14 09:47
Why? Stating the obvious. Stating the obvious.
2017-11-14 09:51
Its about then getting INVITED instead of having to qualify.
2017-11-14 09:53
So a team worse than NIP was invited, but the threads are about NIP, not RNG. Which was my point, but you said it doesnt stand, expand on that please. If someone has a problem with a team being invited the logical thing to do is check if they are the worst team invited, objectivly they are not (the most/only objective evaluation tool we have are the rankings). Otherwise the person just has a problem with that team on a personal level.
2017-11-14 09:59
Renegades is a quick replacement for Immortals which got announced two (?) days before the event in NA starts. It was simply the best team which you were able to get real fast to the event. NiP on the other hand got invited way before that. Also I wouldnt be that sure about NiP>RNG.

2017-11-14 18:19
Really? From all the things I said in this thread you think THIS comment is the worst?
2017-11-14 18:20
Not necessarily. But that's an interesting self-reflection, which of your comments do you think is the "worst"? Why do you think it's stupid to invite NiP, mainly on the grounds that they won the very same tournament last year?
2017-11-14 18:26
Because its retarded to invite a team that could have totally changed a year later just because it won the previous year.
2017-11-14 18:27
It's a principle that goes for other sports as well, football Champions League for example. Anyway, do you also think it's retarded to have major legends? The majors are about 6 months apart and you don't even have to win it to get an invite to the next major, just reach top 8. Which other team(s) do you think should've gotten the invite instead of NiP?
2017-11-14 18:30
I dont care for other sports. Sort of, worked much better until colombus. North.
2017-11-14 18:31
So you're not questioning the principle itself, just when teams you don't like get invited because of it.
2017-11-14 18:33
not really at least I cant remember a single time where I said that its good for any team/event
2017-11-14 18:35
NIP was invited around the time when the finished top 8 at Cologne and top 4 at Malmo, it would make it pretty logical to consider them a top 8 team worthy of an invite, adding to that the fact that they are reigning champions. Its pretty silly to question invites months after they happened, they will, should and must be based on how it looked at the time they were sent.

2017-11-14 11:18
Envy optic and mongolz are not invited they're qualified and renegades replaced immortals who were considered good when they were invited. And tbh who cares about ranking? these teams are clearly better than nip. so he might be hater but you are deluded nip fanboy.

2017-11-14 13:29
Sure, but that still means NIP is not the lowest ranked invited team and should not be the most questioned invite. If they had added North at the end then the questions would have been more valid. and also, why does the order of the invites matter? invited teams are invited teams, even if it happened yesterday or 3 months ago.

Nip cant even win against AGO. What kind of explanation do u need?
2017-11-14 09:52
I'll talk about renegades as other teams are qualified and showed that they are worthy of that spot unlike nip. If look at their offline placings in last tournaments you will probably understand why they are better than nip. And even if you think that placings are not good source to determine form of the team then you should start watching their matches, they're actually trying they might not have the biggest map pool but they're almost comfortable on maps. See if you don't understand all these all you need to do is come out of 2014/15 and start living in 2017 that will surely make you realise how shit nip has become.
2017-11-14 10:03
I'm not saying RNG are bad, but the only objective tool we have are the rankings, any other way just places personal bias on the results. And in the rankings, NIP are over RNG. The offline results with the current roster are also solid enough for a invite, top 8 in Cologne and top 4 in Malmo, both fully stacked 16 team events. Sure it was a few months ago now, but it was at that time the invites where send. Edit: NIP also qualified for EPL finals in the hard EU league while RNG failed to do so in the low level NA league.
2017-11-14 10:10
NiP managed to qualify for EPL because they're not attending as many events as other EU teams and even RNG are so brother you should ask yourself if you're just a fanboy or a delusional fangay.
2017-11-14 10:35
Why do you feel a need to add an insult at the end of every post? Really that immature?
2017-11-14 11:29
NiP managed to qualify for EPL because they're not attending as many events as other EU teams and even RNG are.

a better tool for you : - a qualifier since you still dont get it : - North and mouz had to play a qualifier - NIP got invited and since you think rankings are totally objective : - Get educated
2017-11-14 13:34
So, no invites for any team at any time? How big are the qualifiers? Surely you cant invite teams to the qualifiers (would be like inviting to the event) so it must be open for all, say 256/512 teams maybe? Now do this for every event, would not be possible to fit all this into a schedule and still give teams time to practice and develope strats. I agree that North should be at the event, but at the cost of the IMT (now RNG) spot. Why do you overrate Mouz so hard? How are the rankings not totally objective? It's a points system based on the results of each team, sure you can have opinions about the valuation of different events, but all teams compete under exactly the same conditions. Do you know what objective means?
2017-11-14 13:53

NiP are invited to BLAST Pro Series because there are two tournaments of that kind (one in Europe soon, and one in NA in 2018). In the european one they wanted to have 5 europeans and only 1 not european, I guess they will do the same inverted for the other one (5 NA 1 Europe). Otherwise C9/Liquid should have got the invite instead
