Yeah, in hip-hop especially, there is an unspoken requirement of its artists: they're not allowed to feel, certainly not cry. That's why I especially liked that last ironic line from Blue Bricks:
"These ain't tears in my eyes
Just the dirt in the wind"
Off the top of my head, another thoroughly introspective album was Earl Sweatshirt's I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside (2015). Loved that album title, too!
