How can he be so high on the rankings if he didnt play several events because of his sickness?

Reminds me when Fallen got mvp for the tournament after they lost to Cloude9 in the final in Brazil. That is what I call rigged.

We are not talking about HLTV's mvp, but the mvp from the event

you are retarded
2018-01-13 15:44
because he has like 1.2 rating and an evp at every event he attended besides oakland where his sickness hindered him
2018-01-13 14:29
He indeed was very consistent throughout the year, but hltv says he is a top 5 this year. How can he do that if he didnt even play some big events? We just saw rubino and dennis playing for astralis instead of him at the end of the year. Is it better not to play than play just ok? Lets compare him with kennys, for example
2018-01-13 14:34
He won a major? No big events LOL
2018-01-13 14:35
You mean the different between kennys and device is the last one won a major and the former didnt?
2018-01-13 14:40
Kenny rape device noob
2018-01-13 14:47
hltv is pretty good at explaining why they rank a player the way they did. we´ll just have to wait (prolly until tomorrow) and read the article :=)
2018-01-13 14:36
Yes, lets read that and see
2018-01-13 14:40
Their explanations are pretty cliché actually and most of it is just pure bullshit cuz they look only at statistics and thats what makes this ranking so bad
2018-01-13 14:43
I kinda agree with the rankings so far, though, just wasnt expecting device so high. Actually i think dupreeh had a better year than device
2018-01-13 14:47
Well, real rankings shouldnt be based that much on achievements and all the shitty statistics, f.e. GuardiaN - hltv wrote sth like this “He was one of the best awpers IF NOT THE BEST” just cuz of most awp kills per round, like wtf is that?:D and at kennyS “He was one of the best awpers” not even mention about him being pretty easily the best awper of 2017. And you cant really say that GuardiaN was better than k0nfig or HObbit and AdreN, those players were the main stars, even superstars pf their teams while GuardiaN was 3rd-4th best and you cant say that he was almost better than s1mple, thats insane and its not how real rankings should work. Btw, just to be clear, I like GuardiaN a lot and ive got nothing against him but he is great example in this. Btw, device outperformed everyone on Astralis by huge margin.
2018-01-13 15:02
pretentious fucks who think every explanation has to be sophisticated
2018-01-13 15:05
No, but read #64
2018-01-13 15:09
lmfao so because they look at the statistics that show individual skill that shows that they are bad? #fanlogic LOOL

The statistics doesn't have a clear order of importance here in HLTV. (they should to be more logical and transparent). Because the way they method they are practicing now isn't really logical/transparent. The way it's now you can you can make a case to any player to be top 3/5/10/20 (top 1 and 2 is clearly Cold/Niko). In the "Why he is on PositionX?" of the top20 article, they choose 2/3 random stats that show why he is in that position and 1/2 other random argument about why he wasn't higher. And statistics are tricky... you can bend them and interpret them in multiple ways. I think the majority of the community here believes that Fallen's year was overall better and more impactful than Device's. #my2cents
2018-01-13 16:13
Doesnt matter he missed 3 LANs
2018-01-13 14:38
I don't remember fallen playing at ECS 4 finals either.
2018-01-13 14:39
And fallen had a poor start of the year. Considering he is an igl, though, i still would place in top 5, because I just dont have other names to be this high
2018-01-13 14:42
so being an igl should help you on an rating about individuals?? nt
2018-01-13 14:43
I think so. What are your thoughts about it? I mean, his strats have a huge impact on the game. It is hard to measure it though

the thing is stats mainly work if the teams are close in skill, you wont see top 10 teams loose bo3 to highly tactical top 20 teams cause of the skill gap. also making a stat work isn't 100% on the igl (depending on the stat) but way more on his team mates of cause it helps if the igl has the right read but at the end of the day its the that kills wins rounds not stats. I dont think you can factor in that a player is an igl, to many factors play in. im not saying fallen, glav1e or any other igl is bad but when you have the best players in the world stats are more likely to work. theres is also the quistion of VP they'd changed igl many times and often had 2 at the same time so would get the points of being igl when we dont know how is?
2018-01-13 15:34
hence why faze won xd
2018-01-13 14:43

No big events? cs_summit, dreamhack open summer and ESG Tour. Medium events at minimum, don't be a moron. They were even counted on the statics HLTV used.

The truth? Fallen is the best IGL of the world, won four times the ammount of tournaments than device in the year, two times more MVPs, missed just one big event in the intire year and got a lower position than device, NO FUCKIN LOGIC.

Nicec team achievements. Individual though device was better than FalleN.

Individually s1mple was top 3, what's your point? HLTVs top 20 is not Individually only.

Its combined of both. Astralis was also the most consistent team of the year.

he has been gone for 3/15 events.. it's not like he has been away the hole year, and his stats are great. But I still wouldn't put him top5. Or maybe.. not sure though if he deserves it
2018-01-13 14:35
He was great, no doubt. But 3 is too much to still be in top 5 after missing 3 big events

Yes that's true. Anyways, I would still put Fallen over Device this year
2018-01-13 14:41
He stopped playing this year late november
2018-01-13 14:36
It means he could be top 3, maybe top 1 if he had played all of them?
2018-01-13 14:38
If he had good performance, mvp and high stats then perhaps yes
2018-01-13 14:39
Interesting. Thanks for sharing your thoughts (:
2018-01-13 14:45
If you really think about it, Fallen wasn't great at the begining of the year, he stats it's not that great, I still would put him as #5, but device is a great player too... think this way, Fallen was able to put 2 player of his team in top 3. Without Fallen's strats, neither Cold and Fer would be top 3.
2018-01-13 14:46
Makes sense. Thanks for sharing!
2018-01-13 14:49
Cold is so consistent that he would be top 3 regardless

OK same feeling but its top players of 2017 not what they did overall
2018-01-13 15:07
device won a major, sk and fallen were playing much worse this year compared to last(i mean 2016)
2018-01-13 14:53
so 1 Major + 1 more event > 8 events? Are you high? SK outperformanced AST majorly this year, not even close
2018-01-13 14:55
you need to understand that it is "top 20 players" and not "top 20 teams".

2018-01-13 15:17
You're on the same site which rated NiP top 5 for coming back for one tournament (DreamHack Masters Malmo) and ranked EliGE 12th best player of 2017. Of course they're going to be biased
2018-01-13 15:24
I was expecting elige way lower, like 16-20
2018-01-13 15:45
Exactly! how is EliGE better than Xyp9x, k0nfig, Kjaerbye, oskar, AdreN, boltz, olofmeister and snax? don't get me wrong, EliGE is good, but better than everyone I listed above? no fucking way

He won 2 Big events last year one of them was a major and has a positiv rating in every Big tournament this year except 1 that he attended and only missed 2 events becuase of his sickness. hltv.org/stats/players/events/7592/devic..
