I am as anti-nationalistic as my social upheaval allows me to be, with this in mind I am probably to be considered to be pro immigration. (But I am a hell of a lot older than a millennial though) But I do also recon a shitload of problems associated with immigration, problems which are being handled very poorly, to put it mildly. I see the latter as being a much bigger problem than the former, whereas the media and politicians are mainly focused on the former. Trying to limit the potential for problems, while their solutions to the latter problems are very often igniting even bigger problems.
All parties need an "enemy" for them to be warranted. With this in mind, they will always, with no exceptions, exaggerate the problems their politics will fix. Socialists will point at economical injustice, libertarians will point at lack of freedom, right-wing parties will point at immigration problems and so on.
This shit works, because the media are a great help of not letting this illusion become well known by the general population. The media knows that bad news are a lot more interesting to people, as it speaks directly to their survival instinct.
Personally, I am a great admirer of the way that a politician like Putin speaks (disregard the political standpoints). He does not talk to people like they are immature, nor does he try to sway people by talking to their feelings. He speaks like you are actually capable of digesting information better than a 16 year old. He is much more open than the typical western politician, who rarely have any content to what they say, but are almost always trying to affect your feelings in a way so you feel you need them, with as little actual content you can hang them up upon afterwards.
