hi hltv ive never built a pc before so i picked random things and maybe its ok pcpartpicker.com/user/an_ocelot/saved/y3.. 1) is the power supply ok? 2) what is a good wireless network adapter? i cannot use wired because it is too far 3) how do i choose a case/do i need a case? (i just picked the cheapest one in the part picker) 4) should i downgrade cpu/gpu? i will only play csgo at 800x600 low or medium settings on that 144hz monitor. 5) do you recommend sound cards? 6) is this build ready to play or do i need other equipment? thank you mr hltv

Unless you are thinking about upgrading to 2x8 sometime in the future, I would stick with 2x4

You'd better get 16gb for ryzen.
2018-02-01 08:03
Am I not still fully recovered or I dont see the ram?
2018-02-01 08:30
it should have a list button to show more ram. sorry i didnt add it seperatly
2018-02-01 08:35
it is mostly ones i am thinking about but i will get 2x4gb most likely
2018-02-01 08:36
yeah 8gb is enough for the build, and ddr3 cuz of mobo (brand doesn't mean that much i think) edit: i dont see the mobo you put xdd
2018-02-01 08:51
i was accidently not updating the link sorry what is mobo? i put a bunch of different 1x4gb and i will probably pick the 2 cheapest. it is also ddr4 because of the motherboard (but if i end up choosing a intel cpu i might go with ddr3 if that motherboard allows it)
2018-02-01 09:00
mobo- motherboard btw man as you said go for the cheaper ram, branded names are often more expensive but offer the same specs and get ddr4 ram if motherboard allows it

You need more ram. You have 2 options you can do to improve your gaming rig, first that monitor is expensive just get a 1080p 60hz monitor and you will save atleast 130$ that you can spend on better ram+motherboard+more storage, the reason i chose that is because in the future instead of upgrading 3 hardwares you only replace your monitor with a newer one. And you you save more money by buying ryzen 1500 it already comes with a cooler. Edit: Instead of buying a wireless adapter you can buy a motherboard that already has a built-in one.
2018-02-01 07:24
ok thank you what is a good storage size? my current laptop is 128gb and i have not had too many problems but i only have 20gb left i think also how can i choose good ram vs bad ram, and motherboard?

I would go with 500gb or 1tb.
2018-02-01 07:36
depends on how much he needs, if he had 120gb on his laptop and was fine with it, then like 240gb ssd would do the trick (i use 120+240gb ssd's myself, 120gb for os + 240 for games)

1. Get 2x4 ram 2. Might as well get 500 gb hard five for a couple more dollars. 3. Gpus are quite overpriced right now.. a couple months ago you could get 1050 to for 150 and a 160 3gb for 200. If you can I’d probably wait, but if not that’s fine. 4. Idk where you are living, but can you not connect through Ethernet? It is faster and cheaper than getting a wifi adapter.
2018-02-01 07:33
1)ok ty. is there much difference with ddr3 and ddr4 2) i will consider. 3) i cant buy this now, i am probably waiting until after this school semester since i cant play anyway too much, ty for advice 4) how can you connect to ethernet? i always thought it was another name for wifi but i am wrong

1. Ddr4 is not necessarily much better than ddr3 right now, but I would go with ddr4. Also certain motherboards I believe only take ddr4, but I am not sure about yours. 2. Ethernet is a cable that connects straight to your router, there might be places around your house that you can also plug it into. Look it up if you are confused.
2018-02-01 07:43
i think i understand the ethernet now, i have a few cables but none long enough to connect to the router. i will check for places to put it into the wall though ty

Also another thing to look into if you have the money is an ssd. I think you can get a 250gb ssd for like 70-80 dollars. I personally can’t live without my ssd, but if you don’t care too much for extra wait times it is fine not to have one.
2018-02-01 07:50
would it be possible to have a ssd for os (probably linux) and csgo and everything else on hdd? edit: im thinking 120gb or 64gb ssd and 500gb hdd.

Yup, that is what most people do. I’m not 100% sure how much space your operating system will take, but you should have extra space for more things even after you install the os, even with 64 or 120.

U have to go with ethernet (cable not wifi). With wireless you will never have that stable connection like with ethernet.

I use a TP-Link USB Dongle lol and its very cheap and get 100% stable full speed connection. But my wifi is only 10metre far from pc.
2018-02-01 08:22
i got asus nano usb wireless xd router is upstairs so cant do with cable
2018-02-01 09:04
edits: thanks to asmarle removed wireless adapter removed ram and motherboard: planning on 2x4gb ddr4 and built in wireless board also removed monitor because i have a few older ones that i will check out and see if they are 60hz ty to neroz44. i changed the hard drive to a 500gb and also a 800gb, i will choose one later but for now there are a few options

If you have a monitor that is less than 60hz I would be surprised haha
2018-02-01 07:37
added a few rams. im not sure how to judge them so i just picked 1 stick ddr4 rams. there are a few 4gb and 8gb because im not sure if i want to go 8gb or 16gb in the future edit: added a few more ssd drives. i will probably have to change ssd/hdd/ram when i choose a motherboard to fit the connections however

Oh btw, if by any chance you live by a micro center, they have very good deals on cpus. microcenter.com/product/5000190/AMD_Ryze.. Thats if you want that cpu. I prefer intel, and for not much more you can get an i5 7600k for quite cheap at micro center, and it is quite a lot better. cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core.. microcenter.com/product/485322/core_i5-7.. (You can also get it with a bundle)
2018-02-01 08:26
ok i will consider. someone else recommended a i5 8400 so i will be looking into that

Also one more thing, I did mention this, but it is quite important. A 1060 3gb is so much better than a 1050ti 4gb, and they use to be only like 40 dollars difference. So if 1060 prices lower (which they should) just keep in mind to check out the 1060s
2018-02-01 08:29
ok ty
2018-02-01 08:37
I would go for 16gb ram right off the bat. You will never need to upgrade it. It will save money in the future when you are upgrading parts.

He can just get 1x8 and in the future get an extra stick...
2018-02-01 07:41
ty i will consider starting with 1x8 and maybe getting another one if needed. im not sure how it would affect csgo

Get ryzen 1600 its the best bang for buck. I think it's $20 more than 1500X but it performs better and provides better upgrade for gpu in future as no cpu bottleneck. Always go for 4x2 ram not 8x1 ddr4. You will need ddr4 because of ryzen motherboars. Get a better more expensive case- i suggest nzxt s340. It provides better air flow, better cable management and its very easy to build in it. Get a 500w psu so that in future if you want to upgrade gpu you can easily.

Also try atx motherboard, not micro atx because it gives more room to work on as they are bigger, and you're building first time. I have msi tomahawk b350 and i like it.
2018-02-01 08:11
ok i will add ryzen 1600 what is the difference with 4x2 and 1x8? is it speed because it has more connections instead of one stick? i will also add 500w and that case. ty mr koobik

4x2 will be faster and more fps in gaming than 8x1 because ryzen likes dual channel (2 sticks) better than single channel (1 stick)

I recommend i5 8400 instead of ryzen maybe wait for new cheaper motherboards for non-K intel cpu's

Ryzen is good too. But yes there's no point buying a 8400 with 370z as it cant be overclocked. Or get 8600k with 370z

ryzen is more than acceptable for csgo and ryzen 5 is cheaper than most good i5s you can buy so

There is only 20 bucks difference between ryzen 5 1500 and i5 8400 If you wait for new mobos you'll have decent cpu for csgo I5 8400 +gtx 1050ti = almost 300 fps stable in his settings

microcenter.com/product/485322/core_i5-7.. This is better than a lot of i7s, and is quite cheap at 190 dollars.
2018-02-01 08:34
ty. i added that cpu. what motherboards do you recommend? i might make an intel build seperate tomorrow to compare prices better

You should wait for new intel motherboards for 8th gen Currently there are only z370 motherboards which is expensive and its main goal is to overclock the K processors(e.g i7 7700k) People saying intel will release new motherboards in 1st quarter of '18
2018-02-01 08:31

Dont buy i5 8400 + z370 bcs z370 is overclock board and i5 8400 cannot be overclocked. You will have to wait for cheaper motherboards for 8400. But if you wait there is ryzen+ coming out in 1-2 months as well.

you might want to get a bigger hard drive, i got a 1tb and figured it would be WAAAAAAAAAY too much for the stuff i have and do but boy was i wrong, only 200 gb left after having this pc for 8 months also if you can maybe get a 1060 3gb edit: forgot cause of crpyto mining this is basically out of the question dont know about that case it might be a pain in the ass to work in (i built mine in a thermaltake versa h5 or something its like 30$ and was ez af) and yes that power supply is just fine for what you have but if you plan on upgrading anything in your pc in the future you might want to get something a little bit beefier before you build your pc (trust me upgrading your psu is not fun) (another edit): yes this will run csgo at like 300 fps no matter the settings
2018-02-01 08:23
Just a few tips. Don't know what your budget is so i'll keep it reasonable. 1. Wait for Ryzen 2 launch. (Early april) 2. Get a 1x8gb ram stick(DDR4). Single channel vs dual channel makes no difference in anything gaming related. Also easier to upgrade to 16 after a while which I recommend and still room for more. 3. Not sure what games you're going to be playing, but I'd honestly recommend going for GTX 1060 if you're doing anything modern. If you can't afford it right now, see number 1, and save up for 2 months. 4. If its anywhere in your budget, get a 120gb SSD and install windows on it, makes general usage/boot times much more snappier. 5. Pick a more decent case, thats easy to build in, there a lot of good budget options out there. Hope this helps.
2018-02-01 08:29
3. i will mainly play csgo and maybe a little bit of league, so nothing too modern 4. #19 i will probably do that + 500gb hdd 5. is this before or after i switched to nzxt. before it was just a random case but now it should be better ty
2018-02-01 08:33
If you're talking about the S340 its a good case, i have it myself.
