they drive on the fucking left side of the road, if they drove on left with steering wheel also on left, its hard to tell how far they are apart from opposite side traffic...

They drive on left side because the sw is on the right.

The sw is the cause, the side of the road is the consequence.
2018-02-13 14:46
yea yea i got it. idk why thoug.. maybe its just a thing, but its not only British people. in Pakistan they also drive on the left side with the steering on the right side.

bcuz pakistan was part of the british empire
2018-02-13 14:52
true tru
2018-02-13 14:52
Actually driving on the left is how it was done first. Also, 35% of countries worldwide drive on the left so it's not just British.

That's not true tho, is it? Pretty much every country I've seen drive on the right, except from brits who wanna be 'special'...
2018-02-13 14:44
Most countries who drive on left are ex british colonies, so that's really the only reason it's still around. But yeah, back in the old days people were on the left because when they were jousting on horses the majority of people were right handed, so using their right hand required them to be on the left side of the "road"

I don't see americans or canadians driving on the left...
2018-02-13 14:47
IDK about canada, but when America declared independence cars weren't really a thing, and a lot of people in america were from EU as well, so they probably just decided to drive on the right like most places. I don't really know why though, just my theory I forgot to mention the thing which is actually the problem here, we still use MPH, which is just stupid

Ya, it's fine. I think it's all about preference. Sorry for calling you retards... Still using the imperial system in 2018 is pretty fucking stupid though.
2018-02-13 14:53
Np, I kinda wish we could switch, but at this point it's way too much hassle I guess. Nobody here (at least my age) even uses the imperial system any more for anything other than MPH on the road, wish we could switch that

35% of the countrys, oh boi, so brazil and usa isn't a country anymore.
2018-02-13 15:01
and you use left hand to operate gear stick and in general middle tunnel with a lot of stuff like also handbrake, navigation, radio, heating? :D brits are really dumb. ofc wheel suppose to be on the left so you can operate with your hand like you operate anything else.
2018-02-13 15:07
Yes. Therefore keeping your strong hand on the steering wheel, which actually is safer. Countries driving on the left tend to have less accidents than countries driving on the right, also due to the majority of people being right eye dominant which is looking at the oncoming traffic more sharply than your left eye would to spot any potential danger

In the old days when people used to joust on horses they used the left side for the horse since most people were right handed and wanted the lance in their right hand That's where it comes from I checked Google
