If you go off and die in war, its on you. Alcohol is more dangerous than war for Americans. A little over 1 million Americans have died from battle in 250 years. 88 thousand die every year from an alcohol related death in America. If 88 thousand people died every year for 250 years that would be 22 million. Just look at the stats, people under 21 are less responsible and more prone to dying an alcohol related death.

There is a funny discussion going on right now in some european countries, about banning smoking from everywhere. But alcohol they don't seem to see as a big problem, tho (besides the obvious risks) I am sure 80% of all violence is somehow connected to being drunk. :D
2018-02-25 05:44
Lot of it probably is. I can see why Europe would wanna ban smoking. Long term it is just awful for your health. and is really addictive. Second hand smoke too is awful for your health. What I think is funny is how alcohol and tobacco are legal but marijuana is not.

I can see too why they want to ban smoking. I just detect a social controverse regarding alcohol. Cause this still seems to be more in fashion and thus they don't take it too serious - especially community wise, whereas nowadays everyone condemns smoking. You have absolutely no problem as 16 year old, to go party into the city and drink yourself to death. For comparison: A few decades ago, smoking wasn't that big of a social deal. That's what I wanted to point out. That's the "funny" aspect.
2018-02-25 10:00
I'm most likely wrong but if I was a drug dealer and weed was legal I'd start selling stuff that would actually fuck you up
2018-02-25 10:12
Well if weed were to be legal, only authorized sellers and growers could make and sell it. Not just anyone would be able to there has to be some sort of regulation to it.

Maybe you would start dealling harder stuff but i think you would only sell to "one time users or already fucked up dudes wich will die sooner or later so your consumer base would drop eventually. It depends on what you want to achieve with marijuana legalization. If your inttention is to stop illegal drugs then you might be in for a surprise but if its for a public satisfaction or even medicine usage i think it can have an impact.
2018-02-25 23:24
europe has amazing public transport so it's like an alcoholics wet dream xD here people basically drive. and not everyone is responsible : ) the responsible ones carpool/uber/taxi

That's true. In most european cities you do not even need a car, except if you have to transport something. That philosophy is totally different in the states. With lots of highways through cities instead public infrastructure. In fact, when I was visiting Chicago, I had a hard time finding the subway into the city. They hid it well. :D

I really liked it. It had a lovely atmosphere. Big city air and still a little dreamy. I do not have lot of comparison of US cities tho. Visited relatives in Wisconsin, so I only saw Minneapolis, Green Bay, Chicago and a lot of countryside and dead deer on the side of the road. :) There are big differences in terms of city layout compared to european cities. For example, nearly every city here has a large pedestrian zone downtown (no cars at all), with shops and stuff. In the US there are shopping streets in bigger cities, but shopping usually seems to be more remote and centered around malls. Also you need the car for everything. In Europe you got everything closer together and eventually are able to reach it even by foot from your home. And if not - you got a really well developed public transport.
2018-02-25 10:36
Thanks for the comparisons very interesting. I've been to Munich and Paris and can somewhat tell what you mean. Even though most people have cars if you live in a city like NYC for example you really don't need it until you plan on leaving the city xD Did you hear any gunshots? With the "Chiraq" meme people make it sound like a warzone in certain areas lol

I am from Austria, so I've been to Munich as well. Really lovely city. If you have been (you sure have) around Marienplatz, you know what I mean with the pedestrian zones. Those are really typical even for smaller cities like 20 000 inhabitants. If I compare that to Green Bay (10x as big) you literally need the car for pretty much anything even if you live downtown. And no, I did not hear gunshots in Chicago. :D Even tho I was there alone with my gf around evening time and it was dark - and we even got somewhat lost on the way to the Willis tower. :D We actually felt pretty safe.
2018-02-25 10:41
I was in Munich a couple weeks before Christmas actually and it was awesome. I can remember Marienplatz very well from the bell that rings every hour to all the shops. It was cold af when we went and I forget what part of the city it was but there were these guys surfing near a dam I thought that was pretty awesome lol. Im guessing you didn't go near the bad parts of Chicago "the hoods" which is where I think most of the shootings happen : /

That's funny how people notice small differnces that natives don't even think about anymore. Churchbells usually ring at the full hour. Sometimes even at the quarters (like one "gong" for a quarter past, two for half past... and four for the full hour). :D That seems to stem from earlier pre-industrial days. :) And yeah... I'd rather not visit the "hoods". :D The greatest surprise that people from EU might not expect, is that the US actually consists of countryside, countryside and countryside. :D In the media you only see the big cities like NY, LA and so on ... :) Actually there is much more uninhabited countryside than in europe. As we had more time to populate everything, I guess. :D
2018-02-25 11:01
yea "flyover country" is basically america but ppl just think of cali/ny like you said xD check out this map comparing all states to population of NYC, it's pretty crazy - reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/6vjubk/map.. I've lived in a couple decent sized cities and ya never heard a bell tower (that I can remember). However when i was on long island i was fking neighbors with a fire station who used a tornado siren as their alarm which went off atleast twice a day lol. Im off to bed GL against Navi hope you use C9/Liquids power you absorbed well ; P

but more people drink alcohol then serve in the military moron
2018-02-25 23:08
Wow I didnt realize that. Doesnt matter how many people serve in the military, alcohol and tobacco will always be killing more Americans, no matter what the ratio of drinkers to soldiers is. Having more people drink than serve in the military doesnt justify that it kills way more people every year.
2018-02-26 00:46

2018-02-25 23:02

Honestly not sue why its a thing. A lot of people agree with that sentiment. For some reason our laws are inconsistent with age on things like that. 18 is considered adult, but cant buy a beer? btw there are a lot of Americans that agree that if you are old enough to die for your country you are old enough to buy a beer

Most people in our country at 21 can't even handle alcohol without getting in a car crash or doing other stupid shit, I'm glad 18 year olds can't legally drink tbh. Most people under 21 just drink anyway and you'll never get caught unless you're a dumbass, the law just reduces the amount of people that do it.

most EU countries kids aren't driving at 15-16. i'd like to compare the % of teenage vehicle owners compared to europe in general. at this point you can't just change the age. especially with all our kids being shitty drivers already. if you went to school here you would see we have enough issues with drunk teenagers as it is. if they want it they can get it
2018-02-25 10:05

Your American.. joining the army to defend freedom hasnt existed since 1945. Killing Arabs because your 1% wants more oil while you can't buy a drink at a bar is a perfect example of how the concept of America being the freeiest country in the world is bullshit.
