6.5/10 A lot of lobby
2018-03-18 16:27
I would also say 6.5 Two party system, most of the young people didn't vote last election, also lobbying as mentioned above
2018-03-18 16:30
Well, there’s three parties technically, but only two of them are popular.

technically there's hundreds of parties, but only two are represented in Congress because they have monopolies over our political system.
2018-03-18 23:45
I mean three parties as in democrat, conservative, and independent. The last of which encompasses the rest.
2018-03-19 02:53
the communistic party is gonna get popular soon as well :)
2018-03-18 23:45
CPUSA are liberals. Complete joke of a communist party.
2018-03-19 23:04
You would seriously give them 6.5? It's one of the most terrifying countries in the world alongside Russia and North Korea. Like, in all seriousness, one thing is that you have a leader that is so corrupt and cheat in the election (Russia), but think about a whole fucking country electing a retard like Trump. That country is fucking doomed.
2018-03-19 18:11
Ok Denmark
2018-03-19 18:18
Compared to USA I don´t think Denmark has many problems. But let me know what you think. I'm open to suggestions, my good amerifag :-*

Ok Denmark. Lord Bendtner is the only good thing to come out of Denmark.

You literally gave the third most democratic country in the world an 8?
2018-03-18 17:12
are you saying the most democratic country in the world is a perfect representation/utilisation of democracy?
2018-03-18 17:13
no? wtf
2018-03-18 17:21
then why should the third most democratic country get above an 8? what rating will the most democratic country get, if it cant get a 10... as you said.
2018-03-18 17:46
a 9.6 or 9.7? What do you not get?
2018-03-19 02:23
why 9.6? why not 9.9? i think upon acknowledging perfection is unattainable, why would you then make it so we are 0.3-0.4 away from perfection? low standards or falsely optimistic?
2018-03-19 02:26
if youre wondering why my point may seem confusing/retarded, its because this argument is. we've established no common ground and are critiquing a completely subjective rating system.

The 10 is impossible to give, because democracy needs continuous improvement. The maximum grade I will give is a 9/10. But even Norway, which from my point of view is the one that is now nearing near-perfect democracy, there are still some things that need to be done.
2018-03-19 03:04
It's not too democratic imo. Our government doesn't give a single f*ck about what the people think.

Simple. Catalans wants to decide in a referendum if we want to be a new country or not. Spains doesnt let us. So deep to explain and where it comes from. Just now that Catalonia 1st "independence"attempt was on 1640. As well 1936. 1938. And now, 2017. Pros. More self government. Control our own taxes. Prob better economy. Cons: First year independent would be hard. Spain ve never been a friendly country with its colonies...

Ah! I now understand what you mean. Like all countries, Greece has groups of extremists that can be potentially dangerous, but.. When I said dangerous extremists, I meant if by walking on the street as a random person you run a risk of being attacked by any group of extremists. Say what you want about Greece's shitty government and economy, but it's a safe country and you are not in any such danger. Political extremists in greece normally just cause a huge nuance to the police and political people in gatherings and so on.

2018-03-19 23:00
Bruh, attempts of coups are completely irrelevant for top tier countries and political stability as a general concept isn't relevant at all to democracy xD

 |
Brazil AN89
I said that in addition to what is considered in general (government in action, political participation, individual and civil liberties, involvement of the population, etc.), I also consider what I said at # 145. How is political stability not relevant to democracy? Try to say this to the new democracies that go through a successive social boiling (of course, this is important, because a positive process of lapidation is necessary for democracy in the country, although not always what comes from this process is positive).
2018-03-19 23:14
You would just have to elaborate what you mean with political stability, the general term as I said really have nothing to do with democracy.
2018-03-19 23:17
#178
 |
Brazil AN89
When I speak of political stability, I am referring to the fact that there is a consistency of elections. For example, in Brazil, we once again became a democracy in fact and in law in 1988. Since then, we have periodic elections. It is a must have for a nation that wants to have a full democracy, even though we choose poor politicians. It is not just about becoming a democracy from one day to the next, but rather having a constancy of elections and an alternation of power. Sorry, but maybe because I'm not fluent in english, I may not be able to express myself as I would like.

The poster child of democracy isn't democratic

Why would history give you a free pass on being democratic in the perspective of a western society?

When you say democracy people think America we a literally why democracy came into "fashion" and why it continues to exist
2018-03-20 00:59
So because of that America doesn't have a high rate of corruption?

Oh God! Thank you for giving us the United States. Moral and ethical compass of humanity. Land free of corruption, inequality, racism, intolerance. Guardians of freedom, justice and goodness. Protectors of the Earth and the Universe. All they do is for the good of the human species and the environment, they never do anything thinking about themselves. Amen

I love how a South American nation just tried to call the USA corrupt and every country tries to put there selves first and actually we're on of the most equal and least racist countries on Earth and you complain about America policing the world. We don't want to police the world and nobody else wants us to but y'all always cry for help when you need a policeman so kys 🐒
