Turkish Army (conscription)
 |
Australia s1Lenceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Have any Turkish citizens here experienced mandatory conscription in the Turkish army? What's it like? Do you recommend it or have any advice? I am 20 years old and am considering taking a break from university to spend a year in service in Turkey, I want to learn some things about life and I think this will be a great chance for that, definitely an experience that will teach me a lot (even if it only teaches me to appreciate what I have by overcoming hardships and spending some time in a challenging environment while overseas). since my whole life has been pretty boring, just playing computer games and staying indoors like a typical HLTV user pretty much. Hopefully by experiencing what it is like to live in difficult circumstances and without all the luxuries in life I will be more motivated and appreciative, also the training will help improve me physically too I would imagine. Any advice/stories of your own regarding your experiences as a conscript (especially useful from those who are dual citizens and speak Turkish as a second language and not at the level of a native speaker)

By that logic everybody in the world is a dog, including you. I, however, would have to disagree with your claim. I believe that following orders makes you more human than dog, as dogs are not as capable as us in this field and lack the intelligence that makes us able to follow orders due to understanding them and their complex nature. Society functions because we are capable of taking orders and being obedient.

Yet there are 45-50 million people who VOTED for Erdogan, which is the majority of Turkey so i have the right to call Turkey blind. Edit: What has the Swedish population have to do with any of this? Overbreeding and every mother having 7-8 children isn't something good on the long-term of World's lifetime you know that right?

No, there are less than 35 millions of people voted for Erdogan, and i try to say you can't say blind to that 35 million people. And i didn't see anyone with more than 4-5 children in Turkey. IF you talk about Kurds, yeah they do 7-8 even 12-13 children. I have nothing do with them.

I genuinely hate Turkey, but do you have any proof or RELIABLE source that proves the fact that Turkish soldiers are raping, killing and torturing civilians in Syria? PRETTY sure that's what U.S.A and Russia did, not Turkey.

ive seen pictures of soldiers plundering (whatever is left of) shops, desecrating monuments. ive seen pictures of "captured" people who were severely violated and i read reports from human rights organisations. ive also have no reason to believe the reports about them working with said forces to be false. along with what happens to critics in turkish (womens) prisons (again, you guessed it: rape) in so called peace time, this paints a dark picture for what happens alongside an illegimitate invasion, doesnt it?

i have a friend in erbil who is working with human rights organisations. i for one dont need no more proof than her word. i understand however this is not enough for you. try fb site save kobane and let the pictures speak for themselves for now about violations and plundering. for he rest, there are no official reports on news sites for now. people over there are busy with "more important" shit than publishing eye witness reports about the obvious. also, its no secret what happens inside prison walls in turkey. you can find the proof for yourself im sure. and i think we also dont need to argue if this invasion is legimitate or not and that turkish military is working with is-related forces.

Mostly due to the fact that conscription is mandatory, and so I will be killing two birds with one stone. Also, I think the travelling to Turkey and experiencing the more difficult circumstances would definitely be beneficial, as overcoming hardships will allow me to appreciate my life here in Australia and motivate me to live.

you said you live in Australia, dude just join the your own army. Our armies are quite similar as far as i know, and you will have much more enjoyment in serving your own army than in a foreign one, and you will be much more motivated and pushed in a modern army like the Australian one than of a poorer quality like Turkey. Seriously, don't try to make circumstances more difficult, you will be supported, helped, pushed and enjoy much more in a organised and reliable military. they won't treat you like dogs, but at the same time you will be pushed

ok so i assume you are ethnic turkish right? if so do you know the language, do you know the national anthem, are you circumcised? so what will happen is this; either you will serve in the western part of the country in which case you are gonna get shit on just because you draw the easy part of the lottery. people who are in more conflicted zones get more leeway with their freedom and the rest just get shit on because they are in a more comfortable setting. its kind of a military way of evening out stuff. there are also 2 types of conscription serving. if ur a high school graduate or lower you serve 15 months as a basic buck private. those guys are usually consist of 18 year oldsor guys. and they get shit on by their ranking officers a lot. so get ready for some serious hazing. if u graduated from higher education you either get a term of 5 and a half months as a buck private bu compared to teenagers you get more respect(dont get me wrong you are still gonna get shit on) or you draw the lottery and serve 12 months asan officer in which case more time lost but at least you are more comfortable. those are usually selected out of engineers. so what will happen is this you will get the fullmetal jacket treatment from your superiors especially during the basic training part.(you spent the first portion of your duty in those) after that you are expected to be fully respectful and not say shit even if you see weird stuff happening. because this is huge country people from all over the country get together. so there are kurdish guys who dont speak turkish. there are radical islamist guys who are there. there are alos classic westerners who got no idea what the fuck these people are doing and then there are the weird german turks who cant speak turkish for shit and weird as fuck but at the same time more nationalistic than you etc. so its basically like an american prison with black people, mexicans and neonazis. there are cliques inside the place so you gotta keep up with the military outlet but at the same time there is a rank system within the foot soldiers as well. its easy to find yourself in a weird position. like one of my friends was kinda coerced to hangout with drug dealers. the guys were literally growing weed at the hills and then they got caugh at the commanding officers office smoking and my friend got out there 2 minutes ago etc. there is a reason people got so many stories about their time in military. cuz its a weird as place. there are better ways to improve yourself man.

Personal Opinion is that the time is bad spent tho. Brazil also have a military conscription (well, after a trial) for 1 year. True that you get some muscle, some discipline, learn one or two good things that you will take for your life, but nevertheless is 1 year of your youth (btw if you think that you learned discipline and order for your parents, then I think the army has nothing to offer you).
2018-04-02 19:28
Actually there is no way to serving in Turkish Army for foreigners. If you want it a lot, let's change our passports. I didn't my military service yet. It's postponed for now but you can go to army by one application. Take my life, and I gonna take yours pleasurably.

You will fight if you get sent to a city like Sirnak, Hatay, Diyarbakir. But If you get sent to a city like Izmir, Antalya you won't fight. (The best place to get sent is Cyprus tho)
