RATE £1000 PC

Think this is probably the best I could get for the price, the only real issue is the lack of storage but I could always add a 1TB hard drive for £20 or so at a later date. Thoughts?

go for the non x version of the cpu and you can overclock it just as much and go for a 120mm or 140mm liquid cooler over the aircooler and you have a balanced build. uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Tipu22/saved/#v..
2018-05-27 17:40
What are your intensions with it? Only Gaming, Gaming and Editing, Streaming? If you are going to do Heavy Editing with RAW files, your choices are good, but maybe more RAM, 32 at least. Besides that, it's not a good machine, the CPU is intended for Heavy video editing and 3D, the RAM is the right amount for gaming, now, that NVME SSD is overkill, you can get a normal SSD (M.2 or SATA) and even for editing videos with no more than 100Mbps bit rate can handle perfectly. Here's my part list if your intensions are only gaming and editing professionally: uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/Mz6L9J (I know you want the 2700X which is better than the 1800X, but I'm going for best bang for the buck). And here is a comparison between the Ryzen 1700X and the i5 8600k: youtube.com/watch?v=7wOBGmxyBEs

The point of this build is to not buy used parts, if that's what you're suggesting. If I was buying used I'd buy older Xeons and overclock for cheap.

i7 8700K blows Ryzen out of the water on gaming and on Rendering, Adobe with iGPU favors Intel VERY MUCH and Intel surpasses AMD on both areas. Your argument?
2018-05-27 17:15
8700k isnt that much faster so it surely doesnt blow ryzen out of the water and not everyone uses adobe so no overall it doesnt beat ryzen in that. and in 1440p and above there is zero or barely any dif.

oh, did i mention that you can OC the 8700K to insane speeds with a 212 Evo? suck it AMD fanboy.
2018-05-27 17:47
yeah with a temp at 90c+ :D unless u delid it lul.. And i sure arent a amd fanboy but there is no point in me going intel when im at 1440p anyway so wudnt even get more fps and my pc wud be alot hotter and infinite fabric is far superior to intels shit and funny enough they trying to make their new one like amds infinite fabric. And at this rate amd is going to be next to intel or above in performance in games with their next cpu and i can use it on a 2 generation old mobo...

212 EVO TEMP 90C+ are you braindead? LMFAO. You have no idea what you are talking about, iGPU boost favors intel in Adobe, Intel i7 8700K is absolutely the best CPU for HIGH-END gaming. No discussion.
2018-05-27 17:56
took me 5 secs... youtube.com/watch?v=s_NZBEA66BA the fun part starts at 2 mins... oh and my bad 97c :D Are u brain deaD? Then we look at ryzen... higher voltage, more cores and sitting at 55c. And u do have to be kidding me... a budget cooler to cool down a nuclear reactor...

stress test utilizes a CPU at %100 usage, i don't think you'll get %100 while gaming unless playing at a very low resolution LOL. i7 8700K is still better and the OP can buy a better cooler. Or, he can overclock to 4.3-4.5GHz and he'll stay at the "safe zone"
2018-05-27 18:11
so? ryzen will always be 20-30c less than intel aslong as intel use toothpaste..

 |
Sweden aer1aL
so? Intel still puts out better performance
2018-05-27 18:13
yeah in 1080 games lol... and srly we talking 8% dif pretty much and newer games where the devs actually coded their game for ryzen the dif is alot smaller. Sure u can get like 700-800 fps in csgo with 8700k but does it matter? no... ryzen with 400-500 fps will feel the EXACT same.

Sweden aer1aL
more fps = means the CPU is better though. So i7 8700K is better than Ryzen CPU's, it's not like you'll need the extra 300-400FPS but the CPU is better. There's no discussing that.
2018-05-27 18:19
More fps doesnt mean better xD get a coder to make a game that runs horrible on intel and amazing on ryzen isnt hard to do... does it mean ryzen is a better cpu then? no.. A car from 1980 that can get up to 300km/h isnt better than a car from 2000s that can drive 250... overall the 2000s car is better but in that specific thing sure the 300 car is better.

8700k is only better at single core performance. When it comes to multi core there is no way 8700k better than ryzen 2700x lmao. You can search for benchmarks.
2018-05-27 19:28
Hes too focused on adobe that everything else doesnt matter apparently :D adobe is apparently the only rendering and multitask app that exist.

the only difference is that it comes higher clocked. CPU overclocking is easy and it's overclockable, and iirc they both have the same max clock speed. Therefore... no reason to buy an X chip. At all. Unless you're scared of OCing for some reason.

x470 can do over 4k mhz
2018-05-27 18:27

2018-05-27 17:40
Is there a website where do you see what ram needs a cpu
2018-05-27 18:10
ryzen needs 3000mhz+, intel doesnt have this kind of feature/problem

2018-05-27 17:15

2018-05-27 17:21
You honestly do not need an aftermarket cooler; the stock AMD coolers are good enough. You can do mild overclocks with them too. That would save you about 25 to 30 pounds, which could be put towards a better GTX 1060 model. The cooler for the one you have is even worse than the Armor cooler from MSI if my memory serves me right, based on reviews and all that.
2018-05-27 17:21
better put this money to ram but i agree about stock cooler
2018-05-27 18:28
Oh yeah, I forgot he only has 2400MHz RAM. He should probably go for 3000+ MHz RAM then haha.
2018-05-27 18:30
I'd go for an 8700K if I were you, they're a similar price to that Ryzen in Finland, not sure about typical UK prices tho. I don't have anything against the Ryzen, but unless you're rendering shit the 8700K will perform a bit better in pretty much every category. The rest looks good. Also, a bit offtopic but can you really get a 1TB HDD for £20 in England?

My friend, im experienced PC builder and a tech nerd. Let me present you much better value pc, which will crush all the games and any render task as well. You dont need to toy with overclocking, pc will be super cool and quiet. 6c12t, rendering and gaming beast uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/PsJPFt prices are exactly the same, but this would be a better option for you. Good luck with your new rig, enjoy it for a long time :)
2018-05-27 17:50
b360 for 8700, facepalm
2018-05-27 18:16
yep, facepalm 4 u, its 8700 non K you, so cant be OC'ed so, doesn't require z370 motherboard, check yourself before you rekt yourself
2018-05-27 18:21
you will get cpu throttling bcoz of 100+ C on VRM mr.PCgenius. Also 8700 will not give you any advantage over 8400 in games. It will be worse than 2700x in render/soundmaking/etc soft... You should pay someine to teach you some PC building xD
2018-05-27 18:42
-Actually it wont, this mobo has proper VRM heatsink, and its not even close to throttling its wayyyy cooler than 8700k and uses much less power from the wall. CM 212 is decent enough to maintain turbo full boost , max tems didnt go above 56C in my testing, and fan was quiet as a graveyard at night. -Yes it has advantage in certain optimized titles properly utilizing cores/threads, and its has higher boost clock witch benefits single threaded performance games such as csgo for example. personally I would go with 1070 with this build, but pricing today is abnormal, so this is more than enough for 1080p gaming.

why did you put the non k in? The k version is just a little more expensive iirc, also 1060 in a £1k build is way too shit for value. Buy 8gb ram get a 1070
2018-05-27 19:13
yes it is, BUT whole mobo/ram/cooling combo is more expensive, not everyone knows how to overclock, delid cpu, use beefy water cooling etc, its wayy more hustle, and I dont believe that he has enough experience for that with all respect. Also K version should be paired with 1070ti or above to be fully utilized, this is more balanced, and fits the budget perfectly. Performance wont suffer obv, and he will have more quiet and cool system. Also he will use his pc for rendering and such obv, so 16gb ram is more than obligatory. 1060 is more than enough for 1080p gaming tbh, he wont suffer ;)

3000CL16 at least, e.g. G.Skill Aegis 2*8 GB. Or buy a couple of amazon.com/SAMSUNG-PC4-19200-2400MHZ-des.. (as you can see, it contains "BB2" in its model name, it means it's based on the Samsung B-die chips which are the best for overclocking, BB1 would mean the same) and overclock them manually, I guess they're able to work as 3000 MHz too.

2018-05-27 18:48
the prices are ridiculous currently, at least in my country. But the whole cryptocurrency mining and all that stuff made the gpu prices go insane, so there's nothing we can do other than waiting for the new cards. And 130 pounds for 16gb is really reasonable here, i would get it instantly.

I understand that, but gpu prices are back to old prices (sometimes cheaper now), a gtx 1080 is £400 now. Ram prices are still really high, I see that, but why not buy 1 8gb stick for now and wait for prices to drop, 8gb is plenty for games, he should then get the extra 8gb when prices fall if he still needs it

about 4 days, but doesn't matter, Ik what not having that much money feels like. £1k is still a big amount of money regardless, and if thats as much as you can spend, that is not worth it.

so you are telling me that you make 250£ per day ? and you can buy a decent pc by just working 4 days ... life is brutal

Pretty decent rig tbh I like CPU choice, Intel is slightly better on FullHD, 2K and 4K are the same

Decent, but i'd hold off until the new nVidia stuff hits the market in a month or two cuz price drops will be decent

Good pc, would probably upgrade cooler, and have faster memory as ryzen really benefits of it. Other then that it's a solid computer. :-)

get the i7 8700k with z370 if you plan to overclock , if not take i7 8700 with b360 mobo. take 3000hz ram since coffee lake benefit from high speed rams Buy a corsair psu (cx something). If you don't want an intel system Remove the cooler since the stock one is perfect Get 3000hz ram Switch psu
