The finns were like: try to invade us, we will rekt your ass on ski
Germany had the best army.
But too many enemies.
french army all the way xd
there shouldnt be any doubt that germany had the best ofc. best tanks, best planes, not enough material, but lets say out of the beginning situation in 1939 1940 they would have beaten anyone in a 1on1 on paper
German army , not even a question
Denmark. We had bicycle soldiers!!!!
SS Waffen and the finish one
USA, even though I hate to say it.
cause no one gave a shit to take finnland xD,probably the germans had the best army or maybe the us ,russia had great numbers tho
the army with feminist female soldiers who had robotic arms and destroyed everyone
Finnish army, British army, and soviet union
Finnish and German army. I love how Finnish army used to wreck Soviets with StuG III.
Where is there so many people saying Finland. Finland did good in terms of the winter war but they were never a superpower like USA, USSR & Germany
Germany, just too many mistakes and not the right allies
Why does Molotov cost 400€ in cs when to finns it costed like 5€
Wehrmacht cause of tactics in the early stages, U.S. Army in the latter stages
Honorable mention: Finnish army during the Winter War
Interesting question. We must remember to not only consider ground troops, but also airforce and navy. Some quick thoughts from me:
-Russia had an immense amount of manpower. They weren't necessarily technologically advanced, but could throw body after body on the Eastern front until the German war machine collapsed. Distinct advantage the Russians had (and have long had in past wars) is the size of the country and freezing winters it produces. You could say that overstretched supply lines and awful conditions defeated the German army there.
-BUT: What people often overlook when saying something like 'The Russians won the war by themselves' is that the German army was not wholly dedicated to invasion. Many divisions HAD to remain in Africa, the Mediterranean and on the Western Front due to the threat of the British. That's before you even consider the enormous amount of resources dedicated to the Holocaust in the concentration camps and by the Einsatzgruppen. If the Nazis had gone about the invasion of Russia more tactfully and with more resources (which they had) I am about 95% sure they would have defeated the Soviet Union. -> Remember, they didn't need to conquer all the way to Siberia, just the vital cities in the East, where Russia is most populous, which they almost got to.
In summary of this section, German Army was better than Soviet one, despite losing. After all, for every 1 German that died, 5 Russians did.
-The case for France: Many people just dismiss them as surrendering monkeys. Isn't that fair TBH. French army in 1939/1940 could rival Germany / Britain, they were even more advanced in terms of weaponry than the former - they just got a bit fucked over. Maginot Line/French resources were dedicated to the wrong place, Germans gained a lot of ground up North. The Belgian surrender didn't help the cause either. Additionally we (British) didn't exactly supply the most help to them in the Battle of France. They had a MASSIVE border with Germany to try and defend and it just proved to be impossible to do so. I put France right at the top at the start of the war, despite their quick defeat.
Britain: Stood alone against Nazi Germany from the Fall of France (June 1940) all the way until the Invasion of Russia (June 1941). In that whole time, Hitler could not invade at all, as he had easily done with other European countries. Royal Navy was completely unmatched at sea. Royal Air Force defeated the Luftwaffe, and the entire British Expeditionary Force was located the island ready to defend to the death. I know we have a sea border, but I rate us as having the strongest defense in the world at this time. Hitler knew there was no hope with Operation Sealion, so he turned to Russia and came close to defeating them.
USA - Lucky they have huge ocean borders, I'm not lying when I tell you if USA was suddenly transported 5,000 miles West at the start of the war, Germany would have DESTROYED them. By the end of the war with the atomic bombs and total mobilization I suppose they are unmatched. I don't know enough about the actual military at this time to comment though. Pacific war is boring compared to the European one!
-Germany -> Best offensive
-Britain -> Best defensive
-USA -> Strongest by the end
finns ,because of white death
well germans Wehrmacht is still best army trough years. and second comes finland.
allies just outnumbered them always
Germany for sure
Finland is overrated. Finnish forces were insane on their own land, but no invasion force and no adaptability.
Impossible to say. Germans were more technologically advanced in some aspects and the allies in others.
Red army! They returned our land so I support them.
Best? Well Uncle Sam. Nt Germany you are a beautiful idea
Depends, by bellicose power it's clearly URSS and USA.
They had tremendous numbers, great war economy, insane manufacturers and very good techs.
Simo "Simuna" Häyhä doesn’t need these optical advantages they call scopes.
Rothschild Family got everyone to fight for them while they just made money... (early darkweb) lol
Realistically USA was the strongest only because of the nukes they launched but I would say Germany
At the 1939 germany for sure , at the end USSR and USA
big countries USA by far
small countries Greece by far
Sweden had best army, 0 deaths ww2
Germany, japan or maybe great britain
the soviet finland war is being so falsely comprehended that everybody is just going to the wikipedia page and is looking at the numbers and make their own conclusions without research what happened in reality.
Japan was dangerous cuz they were not worried about death.
This is a super biased topic..
#1. Finns, they had all the advantages but still, they obliterated both the Nazi, and USSR.
I would say the Brits, truly determined people. They were on the brink but they held out.
What determines best? Most advanced? Germany. Most shit to throw at the enemy? Russia. Least likely to lose? Finland (fucking cold). Most balanced? USA.
Rommel himself said that he'd use the Australians to take a city and then the New Zealanders to hold it.
I'm not saying the old Oceania boys are the best, but we got some pretty high praise from old mate
first half- Germany
2nd half- USSR
nukes are the best army.
Germany? I think they had the best scientists and engineers as well.. so better equipment and tanks/planes, etc. But a bunch of dumb decisions cost them the war.
The most professional and proficient army was by far the Germans. If Hitler hadn't lost his shit they could have won the war or at least make it last a lot longer. Their main mistake was trying to take on the whole world at the same time. You don't have to be a gifted tactician to see the flaws here.
Are some people even serious about Finns? Are you reatrded?
Any of the big countries(even France) would have destroyed that shithole without any problems - but nobody needed to cause that country has absolutely nothing to fight for
germany obviously better ground troops, tanks, artillery, subs, messerschmitt planes, created first prototypes of ballistic missiles called V-2 in 1945 despite being on the brink of collapse don't be retarded
Toughest army = USSR
Toughest/most advanced = Germany.
But by 1942 - 1943 The U.S army had been pumping out hundreds of thousands of tanks and weapons, while the whole world had been at war and had lost half their stuff. Thankfully the U.S was able to fight Japan and keep them out of Europe and Away from Britain. And was able to send shit tons of supplies and weapons and about half a million troops to the western front to support Britain. This Was Horrible for Hitlers Germany, As now He had a big problem on the West And Winter was hitting on the East in Russia. Here is were the 3rd army was surrounded and killed. Basically the end of the war. Had Hitler never attacked Russia and stock piled the 3rd army and everything he had to keep the invasion out of the West i.e France. The war may have gone much different.
USSR, they would do everything what their leader would say no matter how preposterous his will was
I think the strongest military powers were Britain and Germany
Poland, only army which didnt colaborate with germany
you have to remember, without the US, the Allies don’t win WW2, especially in the pacific theater. USSR handled germany easy, although the main reason for this was the immense number of personnel that they had compared to germany and the axis powers. hitler absolutely fucked germany’s chances at winning, if he doesn’t back-stab stalin and decided to invade massive USSR, they have quite the advantage to win the war. without german scientists defecting to the US and helping to work on the Manhattan project, we would’ve never had a nuke first in ‘45.
France Army was the best
They held Paris for only 2 weeks, it's good stats for them
just cause its factories cant be bombed or destroyed and having no countries to compete them in the Americas + huge navy to prevent a landing
and they had a massive population for a huge army ( 120m)
erm usa had nukes, dont see how this is even a conversation =p
chineese for sure, unlimited manpower op
Americans obviously, I don't remember seeing any Russians on D-Day.
Wehrmacht and there's no question about it.
Germans for sure. Failed on decisions not on strength.
Strongest at the start of the war - German.
Strongest at the end of the war - USSR
USA cuz they had nukes and pretty much caused it to end with japans surrender. If only japan surrended when italy + germany did they wouldnt of got the nukes :/
USA was easily the strongest by the end, but dosent mean they were most impactful during ww2.
Simo "White Death" Toledo
Finland lost to the Russians... they didnt lose as many men but in the end Russia broke through and the Finnish government had to sue for peace and lost more territory than the soviets asked them to give them before the war so they lost a few thousand people and more territory than they would have if they just accepted the deal from the USSR, and int the beginning the USSR was going to trade land not just take it.
I'd say Japan but they screw over hardly in the battle of Midway where they've lost 4 battle carriers and from this point war was being lost. Japs were most cruel and tough guys even after getting nuked they didn't want to surrender, they just surrendered only because USSR has joined and invaded them.
A cobra vai fumar
Over all history i would say France (napolean era specially)
Current time i would say Israel and USA (USA only have lots of stuff but i dont think their basic soldiers are that hardcore just cannon food)
In the future i would say nordic countries together (fi, nor, danes) note no sweds they are pussies we dont need them.
Germany had best army of course what a shitty question
Germany, and British, our RAF & Navy was too strong
as quality of course finnish.
as quantity probably USA.
Finns do not need anyone.
The US, ofcourse. We are the best. The champs. Back to back. Think about it for a second yuropoors & commies. We are the absolute BEST. Most powerful nation on earth and will stay that way forever.
Well imo Germans had by far the best army, their manpower numbers werent even good in comparision to USA or USSR yet they fought them along half of the world at the same time and almost succeeded, fighting on 2 fronts and still managing defense for 3 years.
They are so badass they don`t even need a fucking army and nobody touched them
On how effective they were in combat, Wehrmacht
The USSR army was just good because they swarmed and overwelmed the enemy
so many idiots
i think Belgium or Luxembourg
germany equipment was best
1- Germany - Great technology usage and war strategies. Blitzkrieg could dominate every place in Europe, but GB and Russia. Probably could have gone a lot further if they didn't pick up fights with USSR, England and USA at the same time.
2 - USSR - Not much technology, but lots of people willing to die for their country. Weather made their territories almost impenetrable.
3 - USA - very good army but still economically recovering from 1929, what took them long to really get into the war.
4 - England - Perfect navy and decent army
5 - Japan - Very good pilots, but clearly not decent army
the germany was indeed the best army this world has ever seen, fight until the end in 2 fronts its a difficult task
obviously the great USSR just kidding of course France obv best army
Strong enough to be able to sacrifice pilots and civilians.
Strong enough hearts to know when to stop to save Japanese and American lives.
Obviously, Great Britain.
I am history teacher in Russia, don't even try to tell me that i am wrong
