Genetics really do rule for growth though, obviously sleep helps and nutrition helps. But, it'll make a couple of centimeters of difference between a very optimal sleep schedule and a very unoptimal sleep schedule.
Genes are random man. I know people with short mothers and tall dads that end up tall, but also tons of guys that end up short.
I know lots of people with tall parents too, and they're also very tall every time. Why take the risk? Height is very important for a man.
