It's all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Facebook offered more than Twitch.

the power of money
2018-06-27 06:09
Interesting that 2 top comments are coming from 2 biggest money-whore countries.

esl isnt based in a money whore country, your argument makes no sense mad because from poor country? sounds like u just wanted to be bigoted lmao
2018-06-28 02:00
Interesting that 3rd world poor country has problem with richer more successful countries
2018-06-28 02:10
Ussually those"more successful countries" built their success by doing bloodbath in other countries and stealing their resources.

Still not the same imo. The best publicity a game can get right now is being at the top of the twitch viewership list. I have no problem watching it from hltv or esl.atx.sx but the situation is more than just being able to watch it.

+1 But this isn't entirely ESL's fault. Facebook offered them a better deal than Twitch or even Youtube and then they had to accept it. Could they have settled for a lower deal and get back to Twitch and guarantee 100k+ people watching any big event playoffs match? Sure, but they opted for the money instead. They had two choices, the high viewership or the money form an exclusivity deal with Facebook and they chose the money. I don't blame them, they have to have some profit after all.

But wouldn't ad revenue from twitch is also profitable too? Logically speaking it must be less than what Facebook had offered but it keep the viewership stable. And won't kill off the game.

Theoretically yes but since a lot of people use ad-blocker and have Twitch Prime subscriptions I don't think they could rely only on ad revenue

Thats a good point.

no its actually a pretty retarded and make me feel like you guys never watch a tournament on twitch before. no tourney organizer uses twitch ads ever lol they make their ads and commercials part of the stream and play them during intermissions

Wow calm down. I actually have never seen a twitch ad on any stream but because I've been using adblocker on both my computer and phone (rooted android) since forever. That actually made sense to me but now that you said it is really that way, they put their ads as part of the stream itself and not as twitch ads. Well I guess that proves my point that the majority of people who watch via PC have an adblocker on, I know all my friends and people I know who watch pro CS do.

Nope transitions between each games I actually see numerous ads, please don't use your own experience to overgeneralize the other's. situation. That makes you look ignorant and cringy.
2018-06-28 03:14
Wtf? since when did tourny organizers use twitch ads? They literally make the ads/commercials part of the stream lol EVERYONE has to view them no matter what

I don't watch it, I watch esl_es
2018-06-28 03:36
JW said that Facebook doesnt count every viewer only the ones that are logged in on facebook and are watching it on facebook so if someone is watching it via hltv live it doesnt count idk if its true but that makes sense

+1 the best publicity a game can get right now is being at the top of the twitch viewership list, which will never happen with facebook streams obviously.
