How to increase fps?
NiKo |
Vietnam thunderlove
Hi there, now i'm using core i5, 8GB RAM, gtx 750ti and a 144hz monitor and get 160-200fps depend on the map. I'm looking to upgrade my pc to get more and more fps, around 300fps is OK. Any advice? Which part should i concentrate? Ram or display card? (can't afford to upgrade all) Thanks.

graphics.
2018-07-16 04:26
thanks dude, more RAM won't help anything right?
2018-07-16 04:49
sometimes yes , it depends of your config , it can increase like , 70 fps
2018-07-17 03:22
Add -panorama in launch settings

just sell your old config, and use the money to build a new one

csgo is the game which using cpu most of so probably i would get i7 x700 (i got i7 8700k) and have 300+ fps (but i also have 1080) but yea i think this would be good upgrade but also need to check if your mother board has socket that can be filled with upgraded cpu

i have 17-8700k and get avg of 300-400fps and i only have 970, so csgo is mainly just a cpu game
2018-07-16 04:54
it is but 970 is also good gpu

1060 > 970, and even 1060 is bottleneck for 8700k

yea i bottleneck my 8700 but graphic cards are a little outa budget rn
2018-07-17 22:28
Thanks, i will recheck my motherboard. It means upgrade only graphic is not enough, right dude?
2018-07-16 04:59
for cs not
2018-07-16 04:59
that's very relative. the higher resolution you play on, the more it'll use your graphic. if u had a g4560 with a gtx 1080 you'd get higher fps at full res than at 1024 for example.

depends on witch i5 you have, but probably a 1050 or 1150 (2050,, dunno) will be a great upgrade
2018-07-16 04:47
i have i5 2500, an old version, isn't it?
2018-07-16 04:50
no.I had i5 7600 and 1050 it gives around 240 fps
2018-07-16 04:51
so it means a better chip can give me around 100fps more, hmm. Should i upgrade even my motherboard? It seems like i'm usiing an old version also.
2018-07-16 05:08
the problem is it can be more expensive because when I was upgrading pc i had to chane cpu + motherboard for it and ram

i have i3 8100 1050ti 8gb ram 2400 and i have 220-600 fps depends on map. it's very cheap pc and good performance
2018-07-16 04:52
you have only the better chip than mine and still can get >220 fps @@? I will highly consider this, thank dude

doesnt monitor lock your fps? so if you have 144hz monitor you will onlh see 144 fps no matter what your fps is? does it work like that?
2018-07-16 04:59
yeah, it seems like that, i'm using benQ XL2410 which can lock fps (i guess). But it feels pretty much better when i play outside with my friends with 300++ fps (surely with 144hz monitor) so i'm looking to upgrade smt :D
2018-07-16 05:05
i got screen tearing if i set the fps above my monitor refresh rate

Having 200 fps 60hz is still a big differce when having 60 fps 60hz
2018-07-16 11:24
>144hz >160-200fps >i want 300 fps
2018-07-16 05:09
Yeah bro, when i go out to play with my friend with 144hz 300fps, it feels very very much better, i feel it smoother so just find smt to upgrade my pc to have the same experience

ok I got old pc with i5 6500, 1050 Ti 4gb and 8gb of ram with 240Hz monitor and playing cs for low settings on 800x600 and I am locked on 300-250 fps never go under 250. So it is not only about pc but about settings too.
2018-07-16 07:09
i play also with low setting with higher resoltion (1024x768). Any other settings can help to improve fps?

unpark cpu, clean your pc and %temp% folder, set fans on your cpu and graphic card by 5% higher. Thats what help me a lot.. And now with panorama UI I got more stable fps.

i have a spare 750ti and its a pos which doesnt even require external power :D i struggle over 100 frames on it my 660ti (3gb edition) requires 2x 6 pin and is 3 times the physical size, 300-400fps constant if you understand the architecture of graphics cards x90> x80> x70> x60> x50 even if you go back or forward generations so, 970 > 1060 or 780 > 1050 or 690 > 980 or 660 > 750 etc
2018-07-17 09:23
download more RAM
2018-07-16 11:26
took longer than expected
2018-07-17 03:23
Csgo is all CPU
2018-07-17 00:49
No need to upgrade since you're running at 160-200 fps and you have 144hz monitor, maybe just try playing on minimum setting if you really want to reach 300 fps.
2018-07-17 03:21
i'm playing with minimum setting, all low and very low. I'm playing 4:3, should i change also to 800x600 instead of 1024x768?
2018-07-17 05:05
Tbh you don't really need 300 fps dude, just stick to your settings or maybe buy a new cpu
2018-07-17 08:23
thanks bro, i tried to use 800x600, my fps is stable around 240 but it's really hard to see the enemy from far distance :)),

I know this is unrelated but; pho or bun? If lowering your res makes a little difference, try playing with it as long as it benefits you. If not, try to buy a new CPU like the others told ya

You can just play on low configs
2018-07-17 08:27
i'm playing all low now, 4:3 resolution 1024x768
2018-07-18 03:26
do you have Overclocked your cpu? which one do you have?
2018-07-17 08:37
i don't get it @@ what is overclock cpu?
2018-07-18 03:27
If you want to play more games besides cs get a new gpu 1060 is a very solid option for a budget or a 1050ti If only cs get the best CPU in your chipset (in your price range) might be a potential bottleneck though you have to give more info such as your motherboard budget and that kinda stuff if you actually want someone to help lol for example you need to specify more on your i5 be more specific on it please
2018-07-17 08:38
i'm using i5 2500, an old version, should i replace it? and which kind i should consider? thanks bro

Lower rez & OC, I have a 4670k which is nearly a 6 year old chip and OC'd from 3.4 to 4.2 GHz (with an air cooler) and I get stable 300-450 FPS ingame on 1024 x 768 with low settings depending on map.
2018-07-17 22:33
incredible !
2018-07-18 03:30
Yeah as long as you have a decent fan you can crank that bitch up.

Do a clean windows install Update all your drivers/chipsets with driver booster Clean your pc from dust/change thermal paste Delete stuff you dont use Follow guides on ytube for optimizing your OS for gaming. use -high option in launch settings overclock CPU if possible if you have anything stronger than intel stock cooler Thats the way
