let me test your chemistry knowledge: which pH value has my waste?

yeah, true, gj
2018-08-14 10:35
thx I went to a high school with a strong focus on chemistry

u cant tell it from this pic
2018-08-14 10:30
you can, you just need to know what type of indicator paper it is of course an accurate determination is not possible that way, but you can give a range
2018-08-14 10:33
is it litmus
2018-08-14 11:06
it is universal indicator

above 7 for sure
2018-08-14 10:32
yes, it is around 8

chemistry knowledge and then we compare Ph here. Lmaoo. Is this nursery?
2018-08-14 10:36
it is hltv, I just wanted to know if people here know that stuff I supervised a biological chemistry lab for 4th semester bachelor students and some of them didn't even know what a pH value is that's the sad truth
2018-08-14 10:39
okay now give me the binary for 10
2018-08-14 11:07
1010? has nothing to do with chemistry though
2018-08-14 11:55
ok now give me the hexadecimal for 10 but this time without google
2018-08-14 14:30
don't know, I never had stuff like this in my basic math courses but it should be a single -digit number above 9 which there isn't any in our arabic numerals so I'll just make one up, I call it + for 10, - for 11, * for 12, / for 13, ( for 14 and ) for 15 so it would be +
2018-08-14 14:36
well its just A but nt son
2018-08-14 14:37
well if 10 is defines as A yes, but I could just define my own hexadecimal system what I just did shouldn't be wrong, only uncommon but A seems better, because it is more systematical
2018-08-14 14:41
yes i could define my own decimal system aswell what i will do now 1 = shut, 2 = the, 3 = fuck, 4 = up, 5 = you, 6 = fucking, 7 = piece, 8 = of, 9 = shit shouldnt be wrong, only uncommon
2018-08-14 14:57
yeah you could, you are right
2018-08-14 15:21
here is something a bit more demanding for you to which protons do the signals in the red box belong? it is measured in MeOH-d4, so you don't see OH and NH2 signals should be easy if you have basic knowledge of organic synthesis and NMR

Depending on the brand of strips you use actually, but somewhere 7/8
2018-08-14 11:56
universal indicator and you are right
2018-08-14 12:03
yeh it's universal but some of them tend to color a bit faster and darker for some reason, there's also ph precision paper which gives a way more acurate ph than these strips
2018-08-14 12:06
we have several electrodes for more accurate measurements our waste facility wants to know the approximate pH value of our aqueous waste, for that these stripes are enough^^
2018-08-14 12:08
yeh pH testers are better than the strips but if you don't need exact ph it's all good
2018-08-14 12:12
Dude your'e pregnant it's no indicator paper
2018-08-14 12:00
my wife is pregnant, but that is not her test strip^^

what color would that strip be if it were your wife's idk just random question, sorry if it's too offensive.
2018-08-14 14:40
depends on the daytime, but it should be between 6 and 7, so slightly green

I see thanks
2018-08-14 14:58
This is an alkaline condition, I suppose?
2018-08-14 12:23
yes, slightly
