Valve wants to kill eSports, it seems. Closing sites is going to damage CS:GO, Dota 2, LoL... You fucking name it.
2018-08-15 11:44
Why would it hurt LoL? How do they close sites that work with LoL?

Because if they go as far as to, say, sue betting sites for something in the end, those might not survive. I know that some of the sites probably has a good enough bank behind them, but I can only imagine what will happen if they run amok with this idea of betting being cancerous. So initially it can only hurt CS:GO and Dota 2, but in the end some of the same sites are bound to work together with all eSports games too, so not them all, but it can definitely escalate.
2018-08-15 16:14
How would they sue them? For what?

I don't know right now, but Valve has so far shown to go to great lengths to destroy what was great, and it is America after all. PUBG's lawsuit against Fortnite didn't make much sense either.
2018-08-15 16:35
There is no law they are breaking, valve cannot make up new laws so they cannot sue them. And just because they take them to court does not mean they win. I do not remember valve destroying anything great.

I suppose. But I still see this having dire consequences for some teams in CS, and perhaps overall for the scene, at least. Oh, they have. Trading is cancerous now, and Valve’s cuts from using their market is getting bigger and bigger. That’s an example.
2018-08-15 20:49
Depends how you look at it, trading was terrible before and really shady. Valves message was really vague, and I do not believe they want rid of all betting. Established sports betting companies will probably still be able to sponsor teams etc, I think.
2018-08-15 21:25
betting, poker, all this is fake, only way to make money is to buy software and grind for days or be rich already and get a good buy-in

2018-08-15 16:19
Actually betting gave csgo many viewers but volvo doesn't want others to make money of their game without volvo getting a part.
2018-08-15 11:46
Enjoying the game is too much for people I guess
2018-08-15 11:47
Sounds of someone who came to esports only to bet.
2018-08-15 11:49
without betting esports would be on 2005 lvl and there would be not much players and orgs going to waste time in game for such a little pize pool
2018-08-15 11:51
Good riddance then if it all disappears. Esports isn't about earning money but competition.

and nobody really watches sports for the sport itself but all the drama that goes on backstage. that's why people watch WWE
2018-08-15 12:29
Ok ok, take away all skill , all strategy, just make esports to be all about twitter and reddit.
2018-08-15 12:47
it's all about money, you can't compete without being fulltime player
2018-08-15 13:09
Yep, it's not like are semi pro players competing for no money at all. It's not like there were any tournaments before betting escalated. Forget about all that, esports doesn't exist, it's all about betting.
2018-08-15 13:12
Yes there were tournaments for $50k that has been never paid due to zero sponsorship, players had to focus on their real life jobs instead of paying full attention to cs Every single team in TOP50 is fulltime and many more of them are able to play for some additional dollars thanks to gambling websites Even I have lost money on betting websites, do I have to blame myself for being impatient and making stupid decisions, or is it someone elses fault?
2018-08-15 13:17
Worse competition->easier entry level. You watch tournaments with players beign closer to your skill level, making easier to aspire to get better at game. It's not entirely worse for scene to have less money. And to begin with that money isn't neccesarily there just thanks to betting.
2018-08-15 13:20
It isn't but it has become a huge factor in many investments from websites like hellcase or gg.bet I have 2700 elo and imo you can't become pro anymore unless you are cheating or extremely talented and hard working The only statement that I agree with is that money brings cheaters and crooks, but I prefer to have more money in cs even from betting websites, helps our small scenes like Baltic or CZ/SK to get better

2018-08-15 16:36
valve dont want to close betting sites, (drakelounge, csgolounge, csesport). They just want to kill every site which main idea is cheating on gambling USING skins. AND trading sites BECAUSE they are earning money from trades. *but it is actually fair enough. Some sites like csgopolygon or csgoempire AT LEAST has sponsored some tournaments/teams. Anyway the most advanced site - drakelounge/drakemoon/drakewing didnt do nothing for csgo.
