No, it actually goes. First album which is fully consist of samples was created in 1996. 22 years ago. Even before every hip-hop producer already used samples. It's common feature which I believe came with post-modersnism influnece. Same thing goes with cinema, etc. The fact that some directors literally completely copied some scenes from elder movies (like famous 2012 movie "The Master" is copying scenes from "Melvin & Howard", "The Lady from Shanghai", etc.) is not caused by their laziness, incompetence, etc. It's just how art works in late XX-XXI century. "Nothing is original, everything was already created, etc" - all those ideas came from philosophers so I believe it's not just an excuse to steal, it's kinda paradigm of art. Originality is not the first criterion now. It's complicated shit and for me it's hard to write about without proper english. But now everything is quoting everything, art is talking more about other art, songs and genres are talking about other songs and genres. Intertextuality or whatever it is called.
