no, you cannot teach an American Spanish. In NA they teach Mexican dialect Spanish, so if we learn from someone from Spain, they will speak like a gay Mexican with a lisp, cause that is how Castilian Spanish and Bercelona Spanish people sound to Mexicans.
2018-09-11 15:49
true xdxdxdxd In NA they teach you more like a neutral spanish that all countries will understand, not like spanish from spain with weird words only they understand
2018-09-11 16:01
All spanish dialects are almost exaclty the same in a regular/formal form

As a Mexican and a Castilian to say the world "Barcelona"

the difference between both dialects in that word is that the C in castillian is pronounced as a Z and in maxican is pronounced as an S

Language classes are usually now mandatory in US schools LUL, mostly spanish due to the amount of spanish speakers from Latin America LUL, however some also have french classes like in Louisiana :p
2018-09-09 02:13
I'm just joking bro, I know you have too many spanish speakers in your country, it's normal that you should learn spanish. For example in Portugal we usually have the Spanish, French or German languages to choose from.

Very true, reason for why schools in the US teach latin is because it's supposed to help you with latin/romance based languages like french and spanish.
2018-09-09 02:21
And it makes sense, as a portuguese I speak spanish and I can understand a bit of the other romantic languages, except french, that one is trash.

Yeah, same shit. Idk why anyone would take a language as with a different style alphabet (Chinese symbols/Arabic symbols) if they speak a language like english, german, or spanish, where the alphabet is pretty much the same besides a couple extra letters here and there and pronunciations.

Its likely due to interest but I say its more logical to learn try learning Chinese (specially Mandarin) rather than arabic although Mandarin Chinese is considered the hardest language to learn due to it being a tonial language which could take at least 3000 hours of frequent learning to be fluent.

Well how do I put it? Whenever people in the US want to learn a language that isnt spanish, they got to go to private learning classes outside of school. And schools having language classes that arent romance language based are pretty much rare.

Spanish is very easy to pronounce in my opinion. As long as you understand the alphabet and how each letter is pronounced along with some rules with certain words you should be fine. I'm Spanish 3. My issue however is writing sentences because there are so many tenses and conjugations for each which i need to memorize. Also my vocabulary is an issue.

2018-09-09 13:40
For pronunctiation, the first thing you need to do is forgetting about how things are pronounced in english and focus on the spanish way. From my experience listening to people, the biggest problem to english speakers are the pronunctiation of the vocals, because they just do it the english way. In Spanish, every letter represents 1 unique sound, and that's always like that and how you must pronounce it.
2018-09-09 02:37
#74
 |
United States PsychoLogical
Im aware of that and I consider myself someone whos pretty good at trying to repeat how things are pronounced but I just unfortunately tend to forget or fuck up one vowel. Like an example would be the english letter J which is pronounced like an H in spanish
2018-09-09 02:43
Well, it just sounds like it's just a matter of lack of practice. Not saying that you didn't practice, but that you just need more practice and you will get it. Seems like you already overcame the biggest problems if, as you say, you are aware of that and are pretty good at that.

Honestly Spanish > Latin. Just depends how you understand it better. I speak basic spanish, as I live in an area with many spanish-speakers, just picked it up. And when i read it I can understand things a bit, like literal translations. I did 3 years of Latin though, but I did get behind easily. But if you put in hard work it will really pay off, latin roots were nice to know, I was good with the vocabulary but my grammar was horrible.
