Astralis and BO5
Aleksib |
Finland Mitzu
Astralis has never won a single bo5, and only been part of 2, which they both lost 0-3. One to Faze, one to fnatic. Is the real reason they chose Istanbul over NY the fact NY had a bo5 final? Dupreeh also recently tweeted that bo5 is the worst format for finals.
2018-10-01 13:38
when they played vs fnatic ?

dupreeh is a little pussy thats why major finals should be bo7 best teams should be able to play every map
2018-10-01 14:00
astralis do play every map though :D, they might struggle on cache a little
2018-10-01 14:01
would not have mattered vs navi
2018-10-01 17:14
What a stupid comment hahaha. Astralis would win 10/10 games in a bo7. They can play any map.
2018-10-01 14:03
Lul expected comment from a dane head shoved so far up his own arse never seen the light of day, astralis would get slapped in a bo5 hence why they didnt go to NY, lack the mental strength for it

They have already won a bo5 final this year tho lmao
2018-10-01 14:10
You have absolutely no proof of this lol. Last time they played bo5 they won. The last bo5 they played went in to 2x overtime and a 16-14 loss. Could've gone either way to be fair. They chose Blast Pro since their org is behind the tournament. It's a simple business decision. Also if you remember they dedicated themselves to Blast before they date was rescheduled.

I honestly think the travel time had a bigger factor than the fact that its a rfrsh tournament. Both played a huge role though.
2018-10-01 14:20
Yeah that might be. But I think it's plausible they would've said yes to ESL One New York, if the Blast date weren't moved, only due to the fact that they're in it for the Intel Grand Slam. That's a lot of cash :D

They've already said in interviews that the intel grand slam isn't their main focus. If it wasn't so damn close to other tournaments then they would've probably accepted. Im pretty sure they wouldn't have gone to BPS if it was in NA or Oceania.
2018-10-01 14:56
Yeah I guess it's a fair point. And to be honest I think they've said the Grand Slam wasn't their because FaZe are close so they thought it would be out of reach. Now FaZe are in a slump and Astralis being so dominant I might think they'd reconsider it. I do agree with you. The travel to NY so close to the Major after being away 3 weeks is probably a huge factor. But then again it's hard to figure out since Blast Pro was rescheduled.

Correction: 4 weeks, they barely got home after stockholm before leaving to London. Even if Device didn't have that reflux condition then they might've considered going to NY but since he does i don't even think they considered it after seeing the dates. Regarding the Grand Slam, Astralis could've won the grand slam over FaZe since faze would've to win a tournament where astralis is in before winning the grand slam. For astralis to disregard it they'd have to think they'd possibly lose to FaZe which isn't the winner-spirit a pro team needs.
2018-10-01 15:18
I think we more or less agree ;) Tuere's no need to keep arguing. Read the last thing I wrote. I'm not saying Astralis haven't got the winner-spirit. I'm saying they might have chosen a business decision to focus on something else because of the possibly of not winning other tournaments only to lose at the end to FaZe because of their headstart in amount of already won tournaments. Do you remember when you saw this interview?

Im not completely sure when i saw the interview. I think it was back in like may/june-ish
2018-10-01 15:30
Aha. Because I remember something from that time, where they talked a bit about it. But that was more focused on travel time. Zonic said they might opt to decline invitations from tournaments too far away. Either way, I think know they have 3 chances where they have to win 2 of them to get it, so they still have the chance.

Btw, i have no life so i just found a few interviews. Here's the one you mention with Zonic: hltv.org/news/23889/zonic-the-event-sche.. He mentions how they skipped starseries to get a break and also that we'll probably not see them in Sydney or brazil anymore because of travel time. Also, here is an interview with Device: hltv.org/news/23918/device-im-improving-.. He mentions how amazing it is to have a team like Astralis who is supporting. Also, he mentions that he doesnt really play for the money but it is still a team goal to win intel grand slam. I thought i saw in an interview a few months ago where they said it wasn't their main goal but that's probably just me. Might be because they mention that they'll skip an intel grand slam event if they need a break. I hope they'll win the grand slam since its a lot of prestige but we'll see.
2018-10-01 15:44
Yeah that's the one I saw. I know they don't play for money but I'm sure they would welcome it if they won it :D Zonic said all the players got 18% while he got 10%. 1 mil $ would be a bit north of 6,4 mil DKK. Thats 640k for Zaonic and 1,15 mil for the players. Either way I'm not saying it's now or never, but the odds could be way better now than in a year or two if you think about their current form.
2018-10-01 17:12
Astralis are pussies, my proof - They're Danish /close

Propably the most retarted thread i've seen in a while, they won a bo5 already this year and also last year at Kato vs FaZe...
2018-10-01 14:22
The dude is just brainless and can't keep up with his facts before he make a post like this. xd
2018-10-01 15:33
Who would watch 7 maps in a row?
2018-10-01 14:59
It actually is the worst format. Explantion: Liquid vs Mouz: It was 1-1 so for me as a viewer, watching the 3rd map is completely useless, I can skip it and watch the following maps because the following ones decide about the winner. Howerer, In BO3, every single map is important and interesting.
2018-10-01 15:01
That makes no sense :D I agree that bo3s are better than bo5, but following your logic you can skip the first map of a bo3 as well?
2018-10-01 15:05
That's exactly what I have just found out. Good point and thanks for that. Yes, you can skip the 1st map, but not the following. If you do so, you could lose the winning moment and that's the best part, basically. There's also another problem, and that is time. A single map regularly takes 40 mins. It's more confortable for a viewer to watch 2-3 maps than 3-5. The same comes for players.
2018-10-01 15:08
Yeah it's way too long. I like to watch everything, and not just the winning moment, but I just get bored when it goes to map 4 or 5, no matter how good the game is. Yesterday I think the game was approximately 5-6 hours long in total including brakes. That is far too long for me to keep focus.
2018-10-01 15:14
Exactly, I also enjoy watching the whole matches, but due to lack of my free time and others, I can't do it anymore. It's hard to watch those teams for so many hours, but imagine playing the game just like PROs have to. I couldn't do it for sure.

Astralis is part of RFRSH Entertainment, and Blast pro series organized by RFRSH. That's why they went to Istanbul. They have to participate any Blast Pro Series organization.

Astrails wiill be the best in b05 there map pool is outstanding.
2018-10-01 15:06
they won on iem katowice vs faze
2018-10-01 15:08
Lol bo5 or bo3 Astralis will crush them all, Blast for example if u counted the last game vs mibr as a map + 2 maps won in final = Astralis 3-1 mibr.
2018-10-01 15:11
thats not how it works xd
2018-10-01 15:15
Cause before they play the last game they're already in final, plus no other team has deep map pool like astralis
2018-10-01 15:19
yeah they would crush every team but its still not how it works
