twitter.com/ESPN_Esports/status/10478825.. Astralis has invested €10.5M for a EU LCS slot. The danish domination starts to spread

but why are they trying to buy off the spot...astralis is an eu team bro...(bare with me kinda new in this)
2018-11-08 19:02
LoL leagues have only main qualify. If u have a Org u have 2 options. Play the acess division and try the promotion in end season or buy the slot of first division paying riot and the org owner of slot.
2018-11-08 19:12
nah, North america switched to franchised slots last year, and now EU is following the same path, ten slots at about 12 million USD per slot
2018-11-08 20:01
Hmm very interesting. LoL policies change so much since i stop follow.
2018-11-08 20:07
Basically, the way riot holds the game in their control only, the orgs did not like that they were 3 months of bad performance away from basically being disbanded(relegated and having the players leave) Sponsors also didnt like that threat being they invest for a year minimum and the team disappears from the public eye three months later. Since NA switched to franchising you have major league baseball signing a contract for broadcast rights, Disney, and multiple basketball teams buying huge steaks in teams and after the success NA had financially, riot decided to follow with EU
2018-11-08 20:11
I Don't like riot methods to control the game. They Just don't give a fuck for small regions. They force the hype so much even though it does't exist. For me riot fuck so much the game, and now they Just run to get as much money is possible cus lol is dying. That was the main reason i did stop follow lol competitive

league isnt really like csgo with lots of international tourneys, it's more like soccer with domestic leagues and the top teams from each region occasionally facing off. EU LCS is the European league, generally considered worse than KR and CN but slightly better than NA and TW. think of it like the EPL if you follow soccer. you still have to buy a spot in the league even if you're from EU, not really sure ab how the process works but i think it's basically pay to play

yeah, the EU lcs is switching to a franchised league, 10 slots at about 12 millions USD per slot
2018-11-08 20:02
Denmark have so many PROs everywhere wtf, one 6 million people country. One Danish player finished second at the Worlds this year. Almost every other country do shit to participate at some big leagues

If some country want to be succesful in some big esport these days, they need natural talents, people who dont even need to do CS at full time, just playing 3-4 after work and still getting into the top. After some time, when they prove that they can get money and sucessfuly represent their country at something, goverment will start to care, and then more danish can be PROs because goverment will support it with payment. At Blast pro copenhagen 2018 prime minister of Denmark showed up, said that he is a big fan of Astralis, but before they became extremely sucessful, i think that Denmark didnt care about their esport players

Eu lcs games are a snooze fest, they should have tried in NA or another esport
2018-11-08 19:07
well NA already has their 10 franchised orgs (the did this last year) so they would need to pay MUCH, MUCH more than the12.5 million to get in, and also why bother having the NA org when you can have one thats based out of your home country
2018-11-08 20:12
thats nice tbh

where u get this info?
2018-11-08 21:07
according to league's wikipedia, the player amount was on the rise from all the way from it's start to 2015, and after that there is no info. but in Korea's internet cafe PC Bang LoL is at it's most popular right now, and chinese numbers have been growing according to Tencent, which runs chinese LoL. you can see that in the viewer amounts for example.
2018-11-08 22:24
but no specific info, i'm sorry about that

nope, its still growing.
2018-11-08 22:26
People say League is dying, but to this day still has more players than Dota 2, CS:GO, PUBG and Fortnite. To be fair, League of Legends is one of few games I see staying relevant in the eSports world for many years to come. So you go Astralis, easy money for shareholder Nicolai 'Device' Reedtz. Have a depressing day! -VeryDepressingGuy
