hello guys, show me your city and tell me a little about it.
I live in Joinville, in the state of Santa Catarina, in the South of Brazil. Even though it is not the state capital, we are still the largest city in the state, both in money and population.
*Joinville was founded on March 9, 1851, with the arrival of the first immigrants from Germany, Switzerland and Norway, aboard the Colon boat. The lands were part of the princess's dowry with Prince François Ferdinand Phillipe Louis Marie, of Joinville (a city located in France). We have the biggest dance festival, according to the Guiness (2005).
*We have the only Bolshoi ballet school outside of Russia, the world's most prestigious ballet school. *According to a survey by a Brazilian Institute, my city is the one that rains the most in the whole country.
* Joinville has cities similar to it, with which it exchanges experiences and economic, social and cultural knowledge. They are: Zhengzhou, China, Chesapeake, United States, Spišska Nová Ves, Slovakia, Langenhagen, Germany, Joinville-le-Pont, France, and Schaffhausen, Switzerland.
* Joinville was the first city in Brazil to found a volunteer firefighting organization. The fact happened in 1892 and many attribute this pioneering to the solidarity behavior of the immigrants who inhabited the city at the time.
*Joinville was named the 2nd best city to live in Brazil, according to research released by the newspaper The News (2015). To be on this list, criteria such as health, education, digital mobility and the labor market were evaluated.
