do provide evidence of why it is great to desert the church. it is, after all, a big everyday benefactor, often working in very secular ways and environments. our state church has a very long history concerning education, nationalism, societal progress and charity with few downsides to it. even I belong to the Lutheran church myself as an agnostic deist, why wouldn't the less bothered also do that? a cut of 1-2% of one's income as a middle class citizen in Finland won't really affect anyone's daily life, so it's good to keep the secular Christians paying the tax considering that most of them are baptised, confirmed, often wed and eventually buried in a Christian manner.
