Building Gaming PC
Denmark Sule
I want to say this is the first PC I've ever decided to build. Do you think I should change anything so PC would be overall better or is this fine? pcpartpicker.com/list/mmhbdX

Out of what I've seen online its believed to be the opposite :o
2018-10-21 19:16
depends on what you want to play. battlefield is optimized for more cores but most games are not. since intel has stronger single core performance, games will run better on intel cpus. you literally should save some more money and go for an i7 + 2070 (or last gen, still powerful enough).
2018-10-21 20:39
AMD is the worst choice if you play games like Pubg, league, Csgo.

Denmark Sule
I don't play none of those except CS:GO. Besides, I'm used to playing on lowest settings on all (4k hours into CS:GO), so shouldn't be a problem. In fact, this build will be a HUGE upgrade to what I previously had, and I had no complains over my last build except the random lag spikes.
2018-10-22 18:42
Settings doesnt matter its the CPU which will bottleneck you in csgo not graphics card.

As far as I've researched, based on the settings I play CS:GO in, I should have an average FPS of easilly 300+. When I'm used to having 80 fps, this will definately be an upgrade :)
2018-10-22 18:45
Considering i barely have stable 300 with this cpu: imgur.com/a/ZdSnXUz i think your expectation of ryzens are a bit too high.
2018-10-22 18:47
Yea dont listen to them, even though the AMD might get lesser frames in games it shouldnt be a problem if ur only playing CSGO. But that CPU and GPU pairing will also get decent fps in bigger and more demanding games. Intel = Best performance for gaming, but expensive Amd = Value for money and all round CPUs

im running an i56600k@4.6Ghz, and all i could say is when im running some background tasks, games can become very laggy, especially cs. People like to think that they i5 (or i3 for the 8th) are rock solid and very smooth while gaming, but that's not the case for me...
2018-10-21 19:33
then something is wrong on ur end. i had the same cpu and even streamed with it and a friend is doing the same.

Intel is better on gaming amd better example streaming/editing not saying amd ryzen is bad, its still a good cpu but intel is better ;)
2018-10-21 21:19
intel powerfully amd on 5-10%, but amd processors REALLY CHEAPEST. And yes, more cores = more potential in future. u can play with 60+ fps 5-6 years easy, but you must boost your processord. finally amd looks like better than intel
2018-10-22 19:50
i5 6600k is 4 cores and 4 threads, which dont allow for much multitasking, though if u were to get lets say a i5 8600k then u would get 6 cores and 6 threads, which would probs give u much better multitasking opportunities, but also i do not think that is worth it atm
2018-10-22 20:11
If you want future proof then you don't get a fucking rx 580 and ryzen 2600 lmfao
2018-10-22 19:28
The ryzen should be future proof for now, also with the board it follows with. As for the rx 580, I have no troubles upgrading that in 2 years from now or so, so till then I hope it lasts :)
2018-10-22 19:29
How about you fucking wait 8 days until the next amd cards are released?
2018-10-22 19:29
I'm pretty sure I wont have money left over to be able to buy the new amd cards. And also, I have no pc atm (other than a shitty school laptop) so I need a PC asap.
2018-10-22 19:31
The newer cards will only costs $50 more probably since it's a refresh of rx 580.
2018-10-22 19:32
The newer cards are worse versions of the 580 with lower power draw, which makes it suitable for smaller machines and laptops also
2018-10-22 20:12
yea just buy the 8400 which is worse in everything and costs 60 usd more on amazon...

Id rather have amd tbh. Are air coolers better?

well this AIO might not be the best but it will do its job better than a good air cooler.

the prices of the i5s are super inflated rn its really not worth to go for a CPU thats 60USD more, doesnt have multi threading and doesnt support OC...

its true, if you want pure performance per dollar the 2600 you have in the list is the best cpu on the market.

Denmark Sule
I still have about 100 dollars extra to spend on setup. Do you think I should upgrade the CPU or just invest the money on a nice monitor down the line?
2018-10-21 19:44
you could get a ryzen 7 2700 if you would want but i think the 2600 should be more than enough. im pretty sure you could overclock the 2600 to like 4,1 GHz no problem and that will wreck games so yea. i would go for the 2700 only if i wanted to stream/render stuff. if there's a 144Hz monitor that you can afford i'd rather go for that edit: also i thought you had a different aio cooler, instead of that one i would go for an air cooler my bad.
2018-10-21 21:51
#57
Denmark Sule
Idk if its worth double the price for a 2700 upgrade. I will be overclocking my CPU so I think I should be fine with this CPU for all my needs (I hope) In terms of cooler, I know the one I have will do the job, and im scared to use an air cooler instead which in turn will not work as well as this one. If you have any specific air cooler recommendations ill happilly take em
2018-10-21 22:12
You are right about the cpu, that would be only worth the price if you were going to stream or render viseos or smth. The cooler is good enough and if you don’t want an air cooler that’s fine

RX560??? On your link I saw a RX580. Gtx 1070 is something like 20% more powerful than a rx580. gtx 1070 <= gtx 980 TI... so if you find some used gtx980ti in a good price, go for it.

2018-10-22 00:35
Your pc is all and all fine. Just buy a cheaper cooler you dont need liquid-cooling for a ryzen 2600. Ryzen's temps are pretty low compared to some the intel's cpus

air cooler at the same price level is way better than this shitty aio, would go for 1060/1070 rather than that rx, also ssd samsung evo 860 is way better than this crap, it's also cheaper. I wonder what kind of reviews were you reading, but intlul is generally better than amd when it comes to gaming the word futureproof is very overused, games will most likely utilize more cores better in the future, the question is when will that future become a reality, by that time 2600 might be too old anyway. this is my pc btw, not an intlel fanboy obviously pcpartpicker.com/list/8TDFHh benchmarked here: userbenchmark.com/UserRun/11292044

at this price point I guess you can go for a scythe mugen or fuma, basically any with 6+ heatpipes, R5 2600 is like 140 W under a heavy load, my dark rock pro 4 can keep it under 60°C with fans spinning under 600 RPM at stock, my ryzen is not a golden chip, I could OC it to max 4.1025 GHz (CCX 1, CCX 2 was @ 4.1), but the voltage was already over 1.4, which I'm not really comfortable with in a long run. Ryzens don't overclock much anyway. RXes are better than nvidias (1060) at some games, so you won't go wrong if it's one of the games you play, it's just they were used a lot for mining, haven't checked the prices of GPUs for some time now, it might have dropped down, but it used to be very expensive lol. oh yeah and when my R5 is overclocked it runs under 70°C under load btw your case has a plastic window, just saying.

For the case I just picked a random budget one. I'm not really into fancy looking cases, just want something that gets the job done. If you have any better cases you would know of then I'll gladly have a look at them (willing to spend more for better quality, but not looks). I'm still considering another cooler so I'lll have a look at the ones u suggested.

you can get meshify, which can shave off a few degrees from your cpu and gpu thanks to a good airflow or dark base 700 (i think, not sure) for a bit more silent build. btw you might consider a gaming x version of that gpu, it has better fans. idk about the price tho, my friend has 1060 gaming x and he's happy with it. my 1070 is noisy as fuck under load or playing some gpu heavy game.

cool, though you had a better chip to begin with, also can you go 4.2? I would say that 4.0 is the low OC, 4.1 mid and 4.2 high
2018-10-22 08:37
Yes i can go 4.25, but im not comfortable with the voltages and the temperatures, diminishing returns tbh. This is a sweetspot, and anyway im playing on 1440p with 1070ti, so im gpu bound most of the times, except csgo

I don't think that you will need to overclock that cpu, but if you think that you will, yes,an watercooler is a ggod option, but it can be difficult to work with and there are really great cpu air coolers that you can overclock with

Don't listen to people telling you not to get AMD. There's a very small performance difference. Not worth paying more for Intel, + you will get better performance in other CPU heavy applications(editing, rendering etc.). And nevermind the 2000 security leaks Intel has LUL

Denmark Sule
Yes I will be overclocking the CPU. That's why I need a CPU cooler, but I'm jsut unsure as to which I should pick As for the power supply, Do you mean buying a higher watt one or as in how much I spend on a specific one? Because 550W should be fine for my build but I was considering getting a 620W instead. I have also chosen another RAM as it was brought to my attention that I'm overpaying for the current one. Does it really matter what Ram I'm chosing tho? What should I specifically be looking for?

The overall idea is good, i would just change a few things: If possible, i would try to get another brand rx580, the armor version does not have the best cooling for such hot card so it might run hot or get noisy. And dont buy that water cooling, get arctics freezer 33 esports one (i dont remember the name exactly, should be something like that.) When buying such a water AiO u cant maintenance the water in pumps cuz its closed and the pumps themselves tend to get noisy, the cooler i suggested offers a great performance for its price, check it up. Also if u dont mind spending a bit more, i would get seasonic focus plus 550w, it has better parts and condensators that the one u listed, and it has 8 or 10years warranty (again check it up im not 100% sure but its 8years for sure) And dont listen to ppl who say that u should go for intel, intel has no stocks atm the prices are high and u hardly can find any intel cpu, like the 8700k dissapeared in Slovakia and now they have a few of them and they cost like +70€ more than before launch. Also AMD socket supports at least 1 next generation of cpu so u are fine. Hope i helped

Denmark Sule
Idm the CPU being noisy as long as it doesnt make any trouble for me. This CPU is also the cheapest alternative I have, else I'd have to pay way more for only a little more performance. I'd rather stick to this one, unless it will 100% break the setup. Is this the cpu cooler you were talking about? pcpartpicker.com/product/sVYLrH/arctic-f.. It seems to have less Fan RPM. Does this make a big difference? It definitely is cheaper though. As for the Seasonic, I'll definitely buy that one if it happens to be at a reasonable price in Denmark (prices vary from what pcpartpicker say to what it actually is in denmark.
2018-10-22 18:51
If u dont mind ur gpu being louder then its all good And ye thats the cpu fan i was talking about, RPMs arent everything, usually the cooler doesnt go above like 60%usage, and unless u overclock the cpu extremely it will do its job just fine. There is many reviews about it on the internet ps Use the 2 front intake fans, they help with keeping good temps
2018-10-22 19:21
Im completely new to anything PC building related so I have no idea what you mean about 2 front intake fans :D I will be overclocking the PC, so I just want something that I'm safe on to be able to handle the system. Is it rpm that I have to look for when chosing a CPU cooler or are there other factors too?
2018-10-22 19:28
The front fans are the fans on the front of ur pc case that bring in cool air so the air inside ur pc is cool enough for pc not to overheat Just pick the parts and have it built in a pc store they will take care about it And rpms arent anything, if the cooler has a good passive part (the metal part which takes away the heat) u dont have yo run it on max rpm

For the price, it's good. But the AMD stuff is cheaper for a reason. Also, Seagate will fail you after a while. Not a joke. I bought 3 Seagate-disks and 2 WD disks 6 years ago. All of the Seagate disks have either broken completely or have lots of bad sections. The WD ones are still running fine. Again, you get what you pay for.
