why do i lack so much hype for this game nowadays, back then it just felt so natural to hype up purely by instinct :c

shroud fragmovies... esl one cologne 2014 highlights... mlg columbus 2016 was hella hype for me as well and the s1mple roster swap was the most exciting thing i ever saw in terms of changes... close games and tight grand finals, and exciting to see players get emotional nowadays same old same old... feels... washed out

everything WAS like that before teams decided to take imports (2015 kinguin), then create super teams like modern day FaZe, MiBr, etc. Now that every team looks as if they can take a trophy, it doesn't seem interesting, no band of friends making it to finals, no emotional wins, just "woah we're against t3 trash? EZ win"

I don't quite agree with this. Cloud 9 and Astralis were are last two major winners. I think if anything Faze and especially MIBR show that unless you are extremely careful the super team concept doesn't work.

actually this is very good point... international teams ruined the hype. no more underdogs from a single nation anymore.

Probably because old nostalgic names drop off and the new wave of players is emerging. The overall level of play is pretty bad + astralis raping everyone by a mile. Basically 5-6 maps who are played often for 5 years gets boring.

Man this video made me realize how much I miss Hiko and the ridiculous reactions to everything he did. Also Shroud/Nothing C9. They were never going to be the best team in the world but they got one amazing win in Brazil against what were then their biggest rivals. At least in their minds. Just seeing Virtus Pro being good again too. Fuck me.

That's because cs:go recently became very boring game to watch. In 2014-2015 we could see some sick strats and executes. Nowadays all you need to have is firepower.

I think some time before the MLG 2016 Columbus is when CS:GO pro scene stopped being interesting for me, and these days it's just impossible to care about a roster when everyone's going international and changing players very often (although there's a plenty of more reasons).

True, mirage is the new dust2. Still, mirage at least requires SOME tactics, whereas dust2 literally none. That's why there are no consistent dust2 teams.

Meh.. U watch 2014-15 CS:GO and it feels like a complete different game nowadays the past CS:GO looked scuffed and clunky, and very outdated. It's different now to me is a better game in itself. But, I agree about the hype, It's also hard for me to get hyped up for a tourny nowadays. Probably because there is 500 tournaments in a year.. It's just too many, its oversaturated as hell

2018-11-02 15:47
its because there are too many tournaments, every month there is at least like 2 tourneys where best teams play each other. Back in 2014 i was hyped to watch kennyS against best teams, now i can see him play almost every day, also you could make fun of people loosing skins on csgolounge
2018-11-02 19:47

You r actually right lol, so whole theory about more tournaments is fake. Then, people probly dont watch that much cs bcuz they got bored, not many new people come to this game who are still hyped for cs go scene and older one saw enough

I agree with every one saying there are too much tournament. for example the World Cup or the Olympics wouldn't be so special if it wasnt once every 4 years. Every 2 weeks you got a big tournament with t1 teams. It just get boring at some point, you see the same team, the same matchup, the same maps every single week-end.
2018-11-02 19:51
Agreed

Liquipedia tiers are a joke. They mention cs summit as major 😂
2018-11-03 08:15
+1, and there are 2-3 majors every year. Players who won even one world cup are respected a lot by fans & their country. But winning one major isn't that special compared to world cup. So the major lacks the speciality & hype that a world cup or Olympics has. It'd be special if they keep major once every year with $2-5 million. DotA 2 internationals have atleast $20 million prize pool (though it's crowd sourced). Valve can implement something like this for cs majors. I wanna see more millionare cs players like DotA 2 players.

I'm pretty sure that at least one of them is going to be selected for the main competitive pool, it seems to be the clear objective of Valve
2018-11-03 08:42
basically: csgo being a relatively new game, a tier1 team back in 2014-15 would be a tier2-3 team today because of the ‘meta’ that all teams follow today, along with a bunch of concrete strats and plays that didnt exist back then. ex. nip’s wall of smoke execute made them the most dangerous cobblestone team at the time, and then people learned to do it from them and they dropped off that pedestal. because we are seeing a more meticulous and planned out level of cs conpared to before, you dont get as insane highlights or as many clutches as before because of the structure that all teams have.

Because level of skill, time and dedication teams were putting in back then is 10x more than todays stale boring cs. Teams are being overpaid, they dont thrive to be the best, because they have greasy paychecks at the end of the months, therefore majority loosing any motivation. Only Astralis is worth mentioning, and every team from rank 2 to rank 15 is on the same level, and can beat eachother... Also there is too many tournaments, players have no time to rest ...

hmmm why cs was more fun 14/15 Better maps, not this overly reworked shit they could make slight adjustments just like cbble and overpass but no they fuck it up. Better gun sounds im still crying when i hear good old ak sounds in stuff in fragmovies. M4A1 with proper ROF!!! The banter before after and in the halftime with voiceover was so funny. more operations. 2016 was ok imo the m4a4 meta was a fresh change we had cool tournaments with different results major were kinda boring with the odd exception of s1mple and cold doing lucky shit. But yeah R8 revolver update was the beginning of the end, look at the player count its constantly dropping since 2015 why??? cuz they fuck it up with every major update there is.
