im a bit confused on this topic. Which tournaments are considered "Major" ? Is it the one which Valve holds once a year or are other tournaments such as IEM also considered a major?

Major = Tournament with >100k in prize pool if I'm not mistaken, but people call major to valve sponsored tournaments EDIT: So you can just call IEM a big tournament and you should call valve-sponsored events a major

A ''major'' is a valve sponsored event that is held twice a year. You can call a tournament a ''major tournament'' which basically means that its a big tournament with all the good teams but the actual major is just called ''major''.
