Its gonna be good for at least 5 years, look at the i7-4770, released in 2013 it is still a good processor now 5 years later, so think of it as a long term investment as well.

I need one but I'm cheap I don't want to use money if I don't need to, I mostly play cs but now I want to play games like BFV and stuff
2018-11-15 13:27
if your going to play modern games and dont want to upgrade your pc for a while take the i7

The 9900k does not overclock well.
2018-11-15 13:02
he lives in finland, he just needs to put his pc outside and he'll be able to get +1mhz
2018-11-15 19:28
neither, wait few months for new 7nm Ryzens. Im on 8700 non K, but will get ryzen as soon as it comes out. Already got cheap x370 mobo for that lul :D

I don't want to wait few months anymore, I'm using i5-3570k still :D
2018-11-15 13:00
sell me that i5 3570k later for 30€?
2018-11-15 13:02
Alright, if you dont wanna wait, id recommend going for i7 8700, 400+ fps, cool and quiet, no need for overclock and really strong water cooling line new intels lineup. Also you dont need ram faster than 2666 Cl 14, and b360 mobo is great. Good combo with gtx 1060

9700k is pretty much same price, If you're Finnish you know Gigantti 9700k is 430 and Jimms 8700k is 430 :D
2018-11-15 13:06
+1 but the cooling needed, stronger motherboard and faster ram makes it less good value. All of that for 4,5% performance bump... Then 1060 6gb is a big bottleneck. pcpartpicker.com/list/nnC4nH my build, cheap af

Ye I was just wondering is it worth buying 8700k when you can get 9700k with same price.... I have to buy new Mobo, ram and cooler anyway :D
2018-11-15 13:14
little to no performance bump, but higher temperature, 9 series is useless...

How much higher temperature and does it affect anything? I'm not a pro in these things EDIT: + you get bo4 now with 9700k if u buy it from Gigantti :D I don't know if I ever play it but free game right :D
2018-11-15 13:30
What ever you do, get a K version processor and a Z-line mobo to overclock it. The difference is around 60e, but you get so much more value from it. My current pc I bought i5-6500 and a A170 mobo and regretted it pretty soon. Ended up buying used 6600k and Z170 mobo a year later. Was still good value, but would've been a lot cheaper if I just had bought the setup in the first place.

I was debating changing some parts but seeing I’d have to change everything I decided it’s better save up for 10-12 months, wait for the next ryzen and have plenty of money to make all parts high end.

No, tech isnt subjective, you have exact numbers about performance, price, and a value ratio from these 2 numbers. Maths dont care about your opinion.

you pay double the price for 10-20% improvment on a performance lvl where those 20% do not affect u in any way.

What do you need of your pc? For work, gaming, multitasking, content creation, anything heavy? Do you want to spend all or would you rather get something that would fit your needs for the coming years without overpaying?

Don't buy anything from Intel right now, they jacked up the price for absolutely no reason citing bullshit supply shortages. Either buy Ryzen or wait a bit longer, i5 3570k is still good if you overclock.

I took a 8600k when it cost € 230 And I'm satisfied with it for gaming and multitasking.
2018-11-15 20:00
I'd probably get a cheap ryzen 2600 now and a really good mobo + RAM and next year upgrade to zen2. Intel is sweating.
