Hey guys! I wanted to ask about which usa universities to apply for an international student? And what about financial aid? ( extra activities were like 10 years of basketball and programming)
2018-11-18 17:31
Depends on your grades

idk the examiner said 1510 points and added that it is 97% ( i really do not know why he said that but if you look at some internet resources they actually use the percentile value)

percentile as i said earlier my rate in points was 1510 i think thats good enough to apply, but the main question is how not to lose in the applying competition

Make sure to pick a state/city with low US average crime rate. I would avoid Boston for example. Portland (Oregon) is OK so is also Austin.
2018-11-18 17:36
> state with low crime rate > USA pick 1 please

if you know what you're doing then its safe, although you'll have to be cautious as Houston is apparently listed as a city with some of the highest crime rates. Have some common sense and you're be fine. P.S if you see people with guns on them, just move along as Texas allows you to carry a gun in public due to gun laws in the South being extremely liberal.

that doesnt mean anything and its wikipedia. I'm from Massachusetts, I know the crime rates here.
2018-11-18 17:42
crime rate is largely irrelevant unless you live in the ghetto and/or in a gang those high crime rates are almost completely attributed to by small, low income neighborhoods

Isn't crime rate mostly black on black? Or is it just disproportionately black on black and not higher than white on X

Its kinda both if you ask me. despite that, the most violent state in the country isnt a state with a decent black population.
2018-11-18 18:39
eh depends on where you want to live more than anything. school names dont matter unless you go to ivy league.

ohh now i understand why they asked about sat results being achieved in 2016 or later
2018-11-18 17:54
old used to be 800 maths. 800 essay. 800 english. Fucking noobs gave me less marks in essay when I got 780 on maths and 780 on english
2018-11-18 17:54
How did it happen? 2240 is like 1500-1550 in the new system and my cousin went to a university in boston with 1050 sat score (It is not a good university, but still)
2018-11-18 17:53
when an american applies to university, any SAT score good but because I was from Moldova, 1000 excuses they gave me. I even got 5/5 in AP exams. Also, they were so ez literally OmegaCS compared to what I studied for other exams. Some university say they not sure I can speak english because of my country. Some asked for essay 3 days before admission to be mailed in. Some gave other shit excuses
2018-11-18 17:56
did you apply with a IELTS/TOEFL score?
2018-11-18 17:58
no.
2018-11-18 18:00
Almost all universities in the USA requires either IELTS or TOEFL score for international students. That's probably why you didn't get in them. Are you currently studying in Moldova? Cuz I'd feel bad for you if you are in Moldova with those scores lol
2018-11-18 18:01
I am now in Petronas University Malaysia. I gave that exam and an uncle was working in malaysia so he got all forms and other shit
2018-11-18 18:02
Finland has the best education system as long as you don't go to Harvard, Stanford or Columbia it won't matter if ur in the us or finland

Ivy Leagues in US are overrated af The whole thing is just a huge scam and the only one who get anything out of it are students on scholarships. After 1 semester you're already ruined your wallet by buying school books lol

Jobs dont care about where you get your degree unless its from a top 10 school and if that is the case you wouldn't be asking hltv this question, so any university will be fine for you.
2018-11-19 03:39
its going to be very expensive for u as a international student to go in to any good colleges, even for community colleges it would be expensive. So unless you get some big grants or scholarships or rich.
2018-11-19 03:41
doesnt matter where you go unless you plan on applying to graduate schools (med, law, etc) or you are going to a top 10 school (harvard, columbia, princeton, stanford, yale, brown, MIT etc). you will like everywhere that u go.
