Over 100 years of pollution is a huge problem. Do you think all that pollution magically just vanished? It's still up there but nothing can be done about it so why are they fighting over it?
2018-12-02 01:20
Hey, you are as clever as Trump which means you must also be having problems with umbrellas. Your mother must be going to Church every Sunday asking whu she has been punished like this. Of course climate change is man made. You do not need to know much about green house gasses to realize what us humans have been doing. But do tell, explain how green house gasses are not causing climate change.
2018-12-02 17:44
So did these 19 countries say what their plan is to fight it? The whole world needs to fight it and that's not going to happen. What do you expect Trump to do? Fix over 100 years of pollution. Just stop worrying about Climate change, it's already to late, nothing we can do accept spend the money on preparing for what's going to happen, start building sea walls now, start growing more food indoors and anything else to prepare. I've already seen pics of many major lakes drying up, water will become a huge problem. Those 19 countries won't do one thing to fix the problem. Trump has real problems he's trying to solve and he knows there is no fixing climate change.

2018-12-02 01:22
That's a quite pessimistic way to look at the problem. Who knows what the future holds, but we need bold action now otherwise we're all fucked. How about increasing funding for space programs and fusion power technology, we will die if we just sit idle.
2018-12-02 01:21
17 replies
That's what gets me about the space programs, the only thing they should be spending money on is faster and cheaper travel and until they find it they should stop sending rockets up. 6 months to get to mars is way to long. We need to at least get a new form of fuel to get us there in a month.
2018-12-02 01:22
16 replies
Which is exactly why it's important to fund space programs. The technology we get from those programs pays our original investment back many times over. Look at NASA's Apollo missions, and to even get fusion power we need to mine the moon for helium-3. Space is the future of humanity.

I'm not saying to build cities on other planets, that is decades away. I'm simply talking about improving our technology, and it doesn't even matter if government will do it or not. Private companies are already scrambling to get into space and mine the moon, asteroids, mars, and much more. Fusion power is the future of energy production, to achieve this you need water and helium-3, too bad we don't have much h-3 on Earth and will need to go into space for it. Also to get to Mars we will need a better fuel source/fast engines, that same technology will be used on Earth. Space is the future.

thought you were talking about the usual 'let's move to mars' thing but even the moon doesn't have unlimited resources, sooner or later we'll have no other option but to cut down on consumerism and start living simpler lives again

The end goal for humans should be to a multi-planetary species, it's the best way to preserve humanity. But that's 100+ years away from reality. I know the moon doesn't have unlimited resources, but we won't need to just rely on the moon. We can expand to other planets and moons.

People underestimate how fast humans develop technology. People also don't realize that we invent technologies that help us invent more technologies, which then help us invent more technologies, and the process continues. Its super easy to say "ha yeah in 1,000 years!" when odds are someone will come up with an idea or invention that helps us take a giant leap into the future.
2018-12-02 02:45
Those 19 countries are not just some random countries. Do look up the G20 and while you're at it there is whole lot of things you should look up - like for example how high those sea walls of yours needs to be.

2018-12-02 05:39
It is not about any bill. It is about doing your part. The US is using resources and polluting like no one else, so you can guys even have a lot of relatively cheap places to start conserving. And Trump is steering you guys in the opposite direction. Go read the US climate report that came out on Thanksgiving. Trump and his idiots tried to bury it, but failed and the numbers in there are not telling great things are about to come for the US. What has being going on with droughts, extreme storms, flooding and what not is only gonna get worse.

It's not a problem though (yet) for USA anyways. Nothing is going to be done about climate change until thousands of people start dying. So that's why it's smarter to just focus on your country's economy instead of wasting money on this nonsense. Nothing is going to happen with this "pre fixing plan"
2018-12-02 02:00
2 replies
Right. Ask the people in California, the people in Texas, the people in Puerto Rico... if it is not a problem for the USA and you might change your view. The trouble with climate change is that we all pretend it is not an issue and keep polluting away, then by the time everyone can no longer deny what is going on it is very much to late. It might be that it is already to late, but if we try perhaps we can make it less of a disaster. Do think about what will happen yo you, but consider what will happen to your children. There is a climate report that has been put put by the US state which came out on Thanksgiving - æppl it up.
2018-12-02 17:58

It's not a big enough problem that the significant politics people would give a fuck. It's not going to be "too late" People just don't care for now but when bodies start really piling up then certainly the (whole) world will come together and fix the situation. It will never escalate to a state where "there's no going back" PS I'm almost 100% certain I wont have kids so really I give no fucks.
2018-12-02 18:06
true. thing is though, i don’t really think that the Paris agreement would be enough. There would have to be drastic changes (complete conversion to nuclear power, limited use of cars for countries like China and India, and so on

do you mean energy produced by new coal power stations? Kappa ima exaggerating of course but you do have to keep in mind germany has the most greenhouse emissions in europe and is in fact the 6th in the world. this shouldn't surprise anyone given germany is the 4th biggest economy in the world and relies a lot on production. apparently there is a correlation between being an industrial power and polluting the air, who could have though? point being is that none of those countries can eliminate pollution outright and all those accords and promises and meaningless. to use germany as an example again, it has been warned numerous times for polluting beyond the set limits and is expected not to meet the pollution goals set in the paris accords by either 2020 or 2030. that doesn't mean those countries aren't trying to minimize their pollution, they do. going back to USA, while trump might not apply restrictions on the federal level the states got plenty they can do. california for example, being one of the most polluted states will go as green as possible just to make trump upset (Kappa?).

Its not about the "Green Climate Fund" its about reducing global warming. The US does not give a shit, they still do coal mining on a big scale, fracking and the americans have one of the biggest Ecological Footprint in the entire world. The climate change will cost every country trillions of dollars, make huge parts of the world uninhabitable which will result in millions of climate refugees. Its not only about he US but all countries should fight against it but your president is too ignorant.
