NVIDIA 2070 wtf
Russia VirginAt18
So I bought NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 8gb and built a completely new PC and I get only 180-200 fps in csgo on high settings with 1440x1080 resolution like wtf??? It's not lagging or something but I expected much more fps... Here's my benchmark is anyone is wondering userbenchmark.com/UserRun/12587670
2018-12-02 15:01
of course, makes perfect sense csgo is completely cpu dependent
2018-12-02 15:02
Well 8700k + Nvidia 2070 should be more than 200 fps in cs, no?
2018-12-02 15:06
ofc it should be at least 400

Yes sure but with that cpu should be at least 300 not 200. I have a friend with 8400 and his fps is locked to 300 and he says never drops under, when he unlocks it it goes to 400 and plays between 300-400 and he has a shitty 1050 so yh

You know that the same series of cpu can have really different levels of performance? That's why there are sites like silicon lottery where you can buy the 1% of the cpu batch. (But this still doesn't explain the result of op)
2018-12-02 15:12
Not really, silicon lottery refers to overclocking capabilities rather than performance at the same speed.

to be honest, i dont even know what model is the lastest, it was 1080 TI then RTX 2070? And now i hear there is a RTX Titan?.. so lost boi, but im happy with my 1060. and btw, CSGO is CPU bound so i dont think that your GPU will matter that much.
2018-12-02 15:06
The latest version is RTX 2080 TI I believe
2018-12-02 15:08
RTX Titan was announced yesterday
2018-12-02 15:23
Oh ok lmao didn't know that
2018-12-02 16:01
you could've bought a gtx 480 from 8 years ago and get same fps in CS:GO, your GPU literally doesnt matter, only CPU
2018-12-02 15:06
Well 8700k isn't that bad, right? So I was expecting more than 200 fps...
2018-12-02 15:09
you are definitely doing something wrong, you should have 300+ my 8 years old i5 2500k at 5ghz manages 300+

Your comment is so fucking worthless it's unbelievable. Literally irelevant. I didn't buy this videocard for csgo directly. But I decided to open csgo just to check how many fps I would get. And 200 fps is fucking low. Incredibly low.
2018-12-02 15:10
obviously there is something very wrong with your settings xddddd
2018-12-02 15:10
ur ram is dogshit win10 is dogshit new drivers are dogshit you didnt even OC your fucking lit cpu either CUCK
2018-12-02 15:10
I thought it should be to run csgo with high fps without overclocking. This game doesn't require that much. And why is my RAM dogshit? 16gb HyperX. And all those Windows10 haters are hilarious. Just go back to your shitty Win7 and stop complaining.
2018-12-02 15:13
i have 300+ fps with a 3570k. ur ram has slow timings, you cheaped out. and overclocking that CPU is just mandatory, why the fuck would you not. ps: all you haters are hilarious. windows 10 wears the freshest clothes.

2018-12-02 16:44
copypasted reply from below, nvm me. if you tweak ur system settings, driver and overclock you can get good fps im sure. but i wouldnt cheap out on ram with such a good cpu and gpu, I would get at least the 3200 16 or 15
2018-12-02 18:10

windows + csgo + world of warcraft 100 gb
2018-12-02 15:41
The problem youve got is the single ram, man why would u do that ? The single ram + the low clocked cpu wont allow you more, if you oc cpu to 4.8 and buy another kit of ram you will experience at least 40% more fps (just 15 from the ram)
2018-12-02 15:17
I didn't really know there was any difference between single and 2x RAM. I'm a noob in this kind of stuff. I just thought 1x16 is more convenient. Now I regret it but it's too late...
2018-12-02 15:24
u gotta replace it or buy another stick dual channel is the optimal u wanna be using
2018-12-02 16:01
So if I decide to buy 32gb it's better to get 4x8? Or 2x16?
2018-12-02 16:02
2x 16 if u wanna buy 32 so u can expend it in the future for example when having 8gb, 4x2 is ideal
2018-12-02 16:03
Ok but in general 4x is better than 2x? Or it doesn't work like that?
2018-12-02 16:07
dual channel is okay, 2x is as good as 4x, all u have to do is NOT HAVE 1X so if ur mobo has 4slots, u buy 2x X GB and u have another 2 slots free so u can upgrade if ur mobo has 2slots u buy 2x higher amount of X gb cuz u cant upgrade it cuz ur mobo doesnt have any more slots so, if u wanna have 16gb ram, get 2x8gb if u wanna upgrade this one, get another 16gb so u have 2x16=32 also, look at the ram timings, thats the CL thing Your ram is CL18, which means its slower because of the timings, u should go for CL14-cl16 look it up on internet, not only MHZ speed matters, also the CL matters So, if i was you, I would just return your ram to store and buy 2x8 GB kit, 3000+mhz and go for CL14/CL15/CL16 MAX depending on the price
2018-12-02 16:32
Doubt I can return it but thanks for the reply anyway!
2018-12-02 16:34
then try selling it and buy 2x8gb with better CL U can as well buy another 16gb stick, but u HAVE TO BUY THE EXACT SAME RAM. But it would be better if u sold this one and get 2x8gb seriously, because ram matters too, it affects the performance of ur system
2018-12-02 16:36
My plan initially was to actually get 32GB RAM but then I ran out of money and decided to go for 16gb just for now and buy another 16Gb RAM later
2018-12-02 16:38
just do that man, while it sucks to not reach as many fps as you could, you still have enough! Just wait and buy another 16er soon

2018-12-02 16:19
Well, Your RAM is bulls*it, 16gigs in 1 stick and cl18? wtf? u should pick 2x8gb 3200mhz cl16 But idk why You dont have more fps (8700k is great); i think it may be new generation cards and their drivers
2018-12-02 15:19

Other V5c
you have a single RAM that's the problem, you should have bought 2 x 8 gb csgo runs best on dual channel ram
2018-12-02 15:21
^ As stated above, your FPS in CS:GO is mainly bottle necked by the CPU which is being bottle necked by single channel RAM. Change that 1*16GB to 2*8GB and you should see great results. Also there's probably something wrong with your GPU given it's "Performing as expected (46th percentile)", are you sure you're using NVIDIA's drivers and not the default Windows drivers? When you install OS for the first time, you'll have to disable ethernet so the OS doesn't overwrite the GPU drivers during first boot.
2018-12-02 15:21
I have NVIDIA Control Panel so I'm pretty sure I have Nvidia drivers installed
2018-12-02 15:25
And which driver version does GPU-Z report? techpowerup.com/gpuz/
2018-12-02 15:27

2018-12-02 15:37
You're running almost 2 months old driver for hardware that was released 2 months ago, wouldn't be surprised if that was a partly cause for your issues. Also for some reason GPU-Z says your GPU isn't using PhysX. If it still fails to show it after driver update (see the bottom of GPU-Z), ensure you are using the GPU for PhysX from NVIDIA control panel (3D settings > conf PhysX > choose GPU as primary)
2018-12-02 15:42
I updated it now. Didn't seem to help tho...

Sup dude, if you look at the test it says your cpu is performing below expectations. Maybe you are running a lot of unnecessary stuff in the background. If it doesn’t help, there might be something wrong in the bios. Also single channel memory might be the cause.
2018-12-02 15:29
I used auto settings in BIOS provided by ASUS and didn't really change anything. And I have only browser opened except for cs.
2018-12-02 15:36

are you sure your referring the fps from ingame not main menu. I say this because main menu gets u low fps.
2018-12-02 15:59
Yeah I'm talking about in-game fps (while actually playing a match)

I had the same problem, I went from a 750 ti to 1060 and I was getting low fps. Have you tried to use ddu uninstaller? and uninstall csgo and reinstall it.
2018-12-02 16:09
Don't think reinstalling csgo is gonna help but I might try ddu cuz some guy above already referred to DDU
2018-12-02 16:10
Got 2070 i79700k 300-700 fps
2018-12-02 16:00
Can u please show me your ingame setting and Nvidia settings overall?
2018-12-02 16:05
there's no need to touch NVIDIA settings
2018-12-02 17:18
Sometimes csgo can do this... happened to some pros with NASA pc but they had potato-like fps.

who plays cs go over full hd and high settings?=??????
2018-12-02 16:05
I like the 1440x1080 resolution. It's not the same as 1920x1080.
2018-12-02 16:08
should be more. use cpu_frequency_monitoring 1 to see if the cpu frequency is stable. energy settings to max in gpu(irrelevant for cs go- I mean it) and windows. common problems: cpu cooler is not perfectly attached which causes overheating and the cpu clocks down. c check out "prime95" and run a torture test to check if your system is stable. "backround cpu" is pretty high imo. check out what programs use the cpu while gaming and close them. also remove all launchoptions and old configs. csgo is a game in progress. old cfg command that used to be good, now can cause problems. get_right said ones on twitter "you need to flush your old configs"

Get some monitoring software (msi afterburner/hwinfo64) enable the frequency graph for both gpu and cpu and see if the clock speeds match to what they should be when playing.
2018-12-02 16:13
Why 1x16gb and not just 2x8?
2018-12-02 16:16
wasting your money. your eyes cannot see more than 5fps.

Who plays 1440x1080.. anyway should be more
2018-12-02 16:30
I think Shroud plays on that res. But a res is just a res, the skills are from the person playing the game, regardless of what settings they use.. I think flamie even changes his mouse sense from time to time, which is super unpopular and strongly adviced against.. But there you go, my point is; that shit doesn't matter.

cpu_frequency_monitoring 1 whilst ingame - what % of your CPU is being utilised? You have a k series CPU so you should do at least a basic overclock. The 8700k can do 4.5ghz no problem. I have a 6700k and that's currently at 4.5 too. What cooler do you have? Your ram isn't great - it's best to have 2 x 8GB dimms and run in dual channel, rather than one 16gb dimm. You could try lowering the speed from 3200mhz to 2666mhz and lowering/tightening the timings. Have you unparked your CPU? There's a CPU Unparking app that will check your registry to make sure they are not parked. Feel free to message me if you want more help.

Should not be neccessary to disable power saving features to have decent performance in cs...
2018-12-02 18:14
Do you mean the CPU unpark? It's been a very common method of increasing FPS for some people. It's also why people suggest changing the windows power plan from balanced, to high performance.

Yeah, but with op's hardware, he should get close to 300 minimum fps even with power saving options on. Disabling those can lead to up to 200 kwh of wasted power per year if the pc is idle (browsing/office use counts) for say 5h per day. Not to say it's much but if everyone wastes it adds up.
2018-12-02 21:04
We will assume he doesn't leave the pc on for 5 hours every day. Regardless, the other suggestions would help such as overclock, dual channel DDR running at tighter timings.

did u active xmp profile to your ram ?

you should never only get 1 ram bar , always duo or quad channel
2018-12-02 20:08
Are you running a single stick of ram or two? Running just a single stick of ram could very well be your issue. Drivers could also be an issue. Make sure windows hasn't setup two sets of video drivers. Yes this can happen. You can check by going into hardware manager. Windows loves installing generic drivers and using them instead of the ones it should be. Also, make sure your bios settings are set correctly. Cheers!
2018-12-02 20:33
let me tell you the problem, the resolution is too low for that card. Try higher resolution.

Did you benchmarked your 2070 in an another game? If it peforms as it should, then CS:GO is the problem. It could be because it is CPU demanding or because of wrong settings. Edit: It is mostly because of your single Ram stick. Your CPU will work way better if it has dual channel ram and CSGO is a CPU demanding game.
2018-12-02 21:37
Just turn off power saving from nvidia settings.

Check temperatures of mobo, GPU and CPU. Try some new games and compare your performance (FPS) with Youtube tests like this one: youtube.com/watch?v=om3TedgyHZU Than let us know, ive got 7700k, 1080 Ti and it never goes under 300 fps (2560x1440). It could be specific CS:GO problem or general problem with some components.
