Is astralis nvidia cheating or not?
 |
United States CousinBilly
So I did all of the nvidia settings changes so I could have it just like astralis and it works 100%. The only downside is that ur game looks like playdough and is bright as fuck

the sizes of smoke plooms are decreased by like 45% using the settings
2018-12-03 09:55
Can you share these settings? :D

no one has an opinion?
2018-12-03 09:59
yes it is
2018-12-03 15:50
It is unfair but not cheating. Nothing in the rules against it although I’m sure it will be soon

Unfortunately from the moment money is involved we can expect everything. Just make a comparison with professional sports (basketball, football, cycling, ...) to realize that there is a lot of cheating.

So you think that the observers would not react if Astralis said publicly that they did not do it, while they saw that they did? Don't think so.

Well first of all, there no proof they have/are actually using it. (All of them denying it) Secondly it's not a cheat, but a bug exploit.
2018-12-03 10:04
Fnatic DHW 2014 bug exploit disqualified.

They weren't disqulified, they decided to go out of the tournement themselves. And pixelwalking is directly against the rules. Altough both is immoral, only one of them can be proven actually happened

Wrong, it wasnt the pixelwalk that made the controversy, but that 1 part of the texture near t-spawn became invisible and you chould see through it :)
2018-12-03 15:47
Cheat = exploit Cheating means getting an unfair advantage
2018-12-03 10:41
but, the other teams can just adjust their nvidia settings. If I'm taller than you, am I then cheating in basketball?
2018-12-03 11:13
Nobody knows the exploit thats why. And your height argument is stupid cause it leads to physical human things instead of inhuman echancement. The exploit is not intented in the game.

2018-12-03 13:29
Well I mean, they’re receiving an unfair advantage in the likes of vision assistence, using an external application (given that they are using the nvidia freestyle option), which is basically the literal definition of ‘cheating’ in games, which is confirmed by Valve’s implementation of Overwatch into CS:GO.

Of course nobody has proofs and nobody is arguing that. Everyone speculates that given the circumstances they are probably doing that and stating their guesses. Do you have anything against that to say?
2018-12-03 13:28
its not a bug exploit, its using third party software (geforce experience) to get an advantage you cant get otherwise. its cheating. stfu pls. a bug exploit is BIG using crouch jump bug to spot enemies while not being visible to them

2018-12-03 14:25
yes it is a cheat. It doesn't differ at all from cheat software that can remove/change textures and other materials in games (transparent walls etc)

Lance Armstrong didn’t win Tour de France just because he doped.
2018-12-03 10:04
Yes he won because he doped. He’s stull a good cyclist even without doping but the steroids make him a cut above the rest by a large margin

They all used EPO, unhuman amounts of EPO, but they're also in a different class when it comes to athletes. They trained all year for one fucking race and gave everything they had. Incredible athleticism.

there are observers in every t1 lan. if astralis really used these settings, they would sight it

finally somebody smart +1
2018-12-03 10:59
And what should they do? Stop the game kek
2018-12-03 13:14
If they belived someone was cheating they would stop the fight and inspect the computer. Otherwise it would undermine the whole sport if they didn't.

No they wouldn't. I believe every pro overbrightens their screen for better visibility, does digital vibrance and other stuff like that so you cant really see on the spot that someone is seeing enemy through smokes half a seucond earlier than he should even if you look for this exploit. Also I dont think that manipulate graphic settings is against the rules. So nobody is even bothered by that. And I dont think that all observers are even aware that this is possible.

Why would they lie about it? If the community found out they were using the bug, they just made it far worse for themselves.

I'm not saying they are exploiting anything, but to answer your question.. Noone has the balls in this scene to actually provide any concrete evidence on anything, and when shit hits the fan it's always privately settled and vanishes into a memory. Apart from cases that are beyond saving (eg. Kqly, forsaken etc) If anyone from the top teams was proved cheating, it would hurt the scene more than it would hurt the player. Yes he wouldn't be able to play competitively again for awhile, and he'd have the stigma around him - but the game would be ruined. If someonr got away with cheating in the top circuit, other people must've known too.. And from there it would spiral out of control. The amount these people spend together is unreal, there is literally no way their teammates wouldn't know or at least suspect if not paying much attention. IMO ANYWAY.
2018-12-03 10:57
What exactly are these Nvidia settings and why don't everyone use them? Actually I thought everyone had all settings put on low to unclutter anything possible, except for shadows obviously.
2018-12-03 11:01

anyone who thinks a team at this level could do anything to get an unfair advantage and not be noticed especially on a t1 lan event is braindead

It is not cheating, but valve should change things about the smokes, or just forbid those nvidia settings

You are a dumb fuck and Astralis doesn't use this shit for cheaters. There are plenty of videos showing their monitors during LAN tournaments and everything looks normal. Also, tournaments' admins check their monitors all the time which would have revealed such tricks immediately.

not much if they use the settings just enough for a slight advantage over their oponents would pass admins as well as this was not something well knowed before this drama calling someone dumb only cause u disagree makes u dumb we discussing opnions here

There are opinions and there are egregious allegations. Guess which one this is.
2018-12-03 15:25
yeah yeah, blah blah because its always 100% certain that the "admins" are actually qualified professionals on the job. In reality they probably don't know what they're doing at all and just stand there to look formal. (Not every tournament has the same level of anticheating methods either) I mean flusha for example cheated in many majors that you would think has the best anticheat security and admins but somehow he had cheats installed (2014-2015) Cheating is definitely possible since there are so many hoops and tricks to use and there's no way that the admins know to look for every single one of them. This nvidia screen adjustments is just one of the many exploits/cheats. Source: I've read a lot about how cheating in esports works. PS I actually plan to start learning & making my own cheat software just to get an even better idea of it and no I don't plan to cheat in actual games. Just for learning

Yeah I used the settings last night. When everyone’s screen brightness is high everything looks normal when the show the computers on screen. If you didn’t have smokes with the settings and without lines up side by side u wouldn’t know

2018-12-03 14:20
Realistically speaking I don't want to accuse them of something, but if they indeed do use exploits(there is no real proof for sth like that) to gain advantage and win millions I would put them in the asshole/cheater/criminal list.
