Natural? Did you ever study anything about earth's climate change? There were never a climate change like we are facing nowadays. It would be nattural if this change had ocurried in a gap of a thousand year (at least) and not 1 century. I like captalism but its been destroying our environment at a fast pace...
2018-12-03 17:12
I never had any real answer when I said that to a global warming skeptic I'd really like to know what is their argument to counter this idea...

Global warming is globalist propaganda, so that they can get taxes from fossil fuels and impose more regulations. The ''global warming'' that has been occurring is not synced with industrialization and has been consistent with the earth's cycle, since it started after the little ice age. The leftist media brainwash the people with doomsday scenarios so that they get scared and support their globalist agenda. If your nickname is true you shouldn't take things for granted.
2018-12-04 09:40
The propaganda comes from the oil companies that have money. Climate scientists are offered 10 times their salary just to shill for oil companies, and yet only very few will do it. If climate change isn't real, tell me which of these premises are fake A) co2 in the atmosphere contributes to atmospheric forcing and thus increased temperature B) humans have contributed to increased co2 in the atmosphere by burning carbon for hundreds of years Which one is false propaganda, a or b?
2018-12-04 11:10

Brazil adre221
Prove it. Both are propaganda, it is not proved that co2 causes global warming and humans co2 emitions are irrelevant, 97% are natural emissions.
2018-12-04 11:12
Co2 has increased by 45% since 1750 which is faster than ever before in history, and are higher than in millions of years. Where does natural occurring co2 come from since 1750? Co2 absorbs infrared light, most developed countries can test this in primary school science labs. (Not brazil). This is why we can see that historic temperature records match historic co2 levels

When Mount Etna erupted in the 80s, it released more Carbon Dioxide in one little burp than all of humanity throughout all of human history
2018-12-04 12:48
So you agree that carbon dioxide is doing it and we can make a difference.

NiKo |

If humans continue, overall CO2 is like 100x, if we stop, 99x - have fun doing all that work and spending all that money to slow climate change from 0.5c/y to 0.495c/y
2018-12-04 12:56
But human emissions warm the planet, volcanoes cool it down because of the ash clouds. And stopping pollution makes this a better place to live. No point using coal and oil, when you can use nuclear power with solar and wind.
2018-12-04 13:04
He never gave his source, so you can dismiss what he said. He was talking shit
2018-12-05 10:25
Give me your source and your numbers. My source says volcanos emit between 65 and 320 million tonnes of co2 per year, while humans emit 29 billion tonnes sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0.. agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/..
2018-12-04 13:37
7 billion people breathing produces 8-9 billion tons of co2. Its even more because that estimation is based on 8h sleeping and very light activity.
2018-12-05 12:02
Technically yes, but that co2 is part of a natural cycle. It's when we take co2 that is burried in the ground (coal and oil) and release it into the atmosphere that we actually affect the co2 levels
2018-12-05 12:21
#245
 |
Brazil morFeux
the point is that atmosphere and nature run in a tiny balanced equilibrium, so its not about volcanoes co2 emission, since its part of natural cycles, but whats being added to that and if its affecting the speed and health of the climate change. the idea that our species footsteps had no influence on the health of the planets ecossystem has already been countered in many areas. the fuel area is only another one.
2018-12-07 05:15
Ice age? Fucking idiot.
2018-12-04 19:02
yes theres swings in temperature throughout the ages. But humans speed it up. case closed
2018-12-03 21:35
You are partly right yes there are periods but, in nature everything is cycle and it needs almost exactly same amount of time to happen again. Exeptions are meteor hit or some other shit like that. But with carbon dioxide emissions we release we are just making shorter time span for new ice age or huge droughts. But anyhow in next 20-30 years we will see. You can already feel change but you are probably to young to know example no more 4 seasons only 2 there is no more spring or autumn at least in my country, so many hurricanes every year more and more a lot of earthquakes and tsunamis

back then climate models werent as accurate as they r now, there were significant degrees of uncertainty in them, some scientists did exaggerate a bit but the overall results r still consistent w/ wat is expected to happen compared to todays models within agreeable degrees of uncertainty. most of the wild claims have come from layman activists who arent scientists and who dont understand what theyre talking about - theyre the opposite side of the coin from deniers - people who dont understand the science and for whatever reason dont want to
2018-12-05 07:08
I believe the climate is changing but is it 100% the fault of humans? Probably not. Some people have talked about some cosmic ray things going on somewhere in the space causing it which apparently is normal and has happened multiple times the past X years (I haven't actually looked up any info on this myself but it seems plausible to me)

Wow one of the smartest people on earth don’t believe in global warming? That’s refreshing I agree with you I think it has to with solar activity and just natural cycles, considering the sun is the biggest factor on our climate.

the parts per million of carbon within ththe atmosphere has been exponentially increasing since the industrial revolution, currently it as around 300-400 times as many as it was before. not only is that an extreme increase, but the timescale is far to quick to be any natural cycle. so either Earth’s natural warming and cooling cycles, which it has maintained for hundreds of millions of years, is changing, or it is us. i’d bet on the latter

You have your numbers wrong it went from ~200ppm to ~400ppm so that’s 2x increase, but regardless co2 doesn’t play a huge rule in the atmosphere so I doubt that is the main cause it may have a slight effect but I believe that solar spots and solar activity are the main cause.
2018-12-03 16:46

EliGE |

regardless, atmospheric density has been increasing at unnatural rates since the industrial revolution due to carbon emissions. and increased atmospheric density traps more heat which causes the climate change, I’m not a climate scientist, I’m a physicist so I may be foggy on the details, but ya nearly impossible to argue otherwise. people spent their whole lives studying this stuff but you think you got it figured out?

i havent done enough research to make a good argument but just off of where I live and the climate change here I would say yes
2018-12-03 16:28
I don't even think you need to do research to believe it's real though, didn't like 99% of all climate scientists concluded its a thing and caused by us? I think that should already be enough to see that it's real. Idk
2018-12-03 16:32
Here you can see the damage that has been done by global warming deniers. They have got enough publicity that it is no longer clear without a bit of research whether or not global warming is actually a thing, since there is a conflicting opinion. It's sad really.
2018-12-04 09:57
Dude im pretty sure most of climate deniers haven't even taken like grade 9 science or something. Thankfully the generation that is growing up has a much better education. I remember when I went through actually we had to look at two different documentaries or something about how it's real and how it's a hoax and then we went through just how stupid it is to believe it's a hoax.
2018-12-04 19:06
If you outright deny man-made climate change you are obviously a fool in that regard. But there are cases like this where you don't really know much at all about the subject, and for these people it might not be clear what to think until they educate themselves on the matter. If the conflicting opinion didn't get as much publicity as it does, this problem wouldn't exist.

there is about 300x as many parts per million in the atmosphere as there was since before the industrial revolution. this increase is dramatically faster and more extreme than any natural cycle that has happened in earth’s history. so either, for some reason, Earth is breaking it’s natural cycle that it’s had every since oceans existed, or it’s because of humans

It's not like global warming is going to cause an apocalypse or something. It's just that it will force us to spend a lot of resources to counter it's effects. In certain places there will be drought, crop failures, extreme weather conditions and so on, whereas some areas might go almost unaffected. As always, the poor countries will suffer the most because they have little means of adapting.

its a thing but probably not a bad thing the world changes so do we so we probably go to another planet im pretty sure earth is not the only planet we colonized in billion years.
2018-12-03 16:45
earth is not the end, we are able to destroy the whole planetary system and after that the universe maybe. Not bad at all.
2018-12-03 16:47

Yes but its delaying the inevitable ice age so I don't think we need to worry that much That said, I take my own bags shopping. I reuse my plastics as much as possible. I buy only biodegradable stuff anymore. I switch off all my lights and stuff when I can and before I blew my knee out, I went cycling everywhere. We need to not look at global warming but rather the save nature that is here right now
2018-12-03 17:09
+1 if more people think like that, this is gonna have a good impact
2018-12-03 17:14
i say this everytime ppl are so stuck in the past and in the future that they forget whats happening now, now u have still the minor chance to change little bit but looks like many ppl are slowly waking up lately when it comes to this.
2018-12-03 17:25
I recently went out to see and witnessed some migratory birds. I will literally stops driving and will take public transport everywhere if that birdie was troubled in anyway by my activities. We share the planet with them. And I personally would let myself die than trouble them
2018-12-03 19:18
>We need to not look at global warming but rather the save nature that is here right now what does this mean? This is literally the only way to combat global warming, via protecting what we have at the moment lmao
2018-12-03 21:17
I think he might be saying that we should not only focus on global warming but overall on the environment, since global warming is far from being the only threat to our nature.
2018-12-04 10:06
Yes of course, we are coming away away from mini ice age and we should fight against the new coming ice age by heating the planet! Emissions trading and collecting money bec of co2 is theft

without all this stuff to prevent it we would have been dead before hltv was born
2018-12-03 21:35
There are plenty of things we can do about it. Unfortunately every effective means of countering it requires sacrifices, sacrifices that companies and people are not willing to make unless forced to. If we lived in a world where we all worked towards a common goal we would already have prevented major changes from happening but, alas, money rules.
2018-12-04 10:12
Have to laugh seeing all those braindeand people thinking they know better than 99% (or so) of the scientists. Funny part, most of them come from USA, coincidence? i think not. TY Mr Trump. It's factual, there's nothing to argue about.

2018-12-04 09:58
Do you believe in air and water? lmao what a stupid question
2018-12-04 10:05
Yes. Because i am aware of the fact that we are selfish and destructive creatures and we will destroy anything including our nature for our short-term benefits. We are not very good at caring about long term. Also in recent years we experience the climate in Turkey becoming more tropical-like which wasn’t the case in the past. Stuff like sudden thunder storms right after immensely hot weather etc... That kind of rapid changes in the weather isn’t something we’re used to, and it’s affecting our crops in a bad way. It is either too hot in summer that kills plants, or too fucking windy which also destroys plants. winters too are not as cold as before. It is december and it still feels like fall. And it doesn’t rain as much.

Tbh i don't know. at present, all the information we are given can be biased, thanks to the "free" press which is very easily influenced by lobbies, politicians or simply because the one who writes is not impartial. In addition to the climate it is a complex subject that is studied at the university - I do not have the necessary knowledge to say yes or no. But I presume that if many of those who have this knowledge are alarmed there is certainly a good reason.
2018-12-04 19:14

Yes the earth is changing at a pace that can not be explained by differences in orbit. Farmers can grow different crops at altitudes never before possible, for this to happen within one generation means something is obviously going on. Maybe humanity got the ball rolling however, methane leaving the ocean due to rising water temperature dwarfs anthropogenic carbon output. Reducing carbon output will make zero difference , what we need to do is organize infrastructure at higher altitudes.
2018-12-07 05:06
Don't worry guys the good guys who do the hard work are now spraying the skies with chemicals to fix this problem, even though they have denied it for 25+ years, but now they're doing it for global warming. Thank god they have our best interests at heart! BTW, ever wonder why we normal citizens get blamed for these problems when we didn't creste them?

its not a question of believing. its happening. is it fully due to human footsteps? obviously not. do our footsteps influence? much likely so. other areas like plastic garbage and heavy metal extraction have also been discredited in the past. the capabilites of nature to transmute the excess we produce is not enough since the industrial revolution, as refreshed every decade. fuel is a poweful tool with immense economical influence and moguls are not leaving the bone without a fight, as expected. manage an aquarium and ull see how tiny changes in balance can affect life in it.
2018-12-07 05:32
Of course I do . I can feel it . The places in india which were cold as fuck during winter for 2 whole months now remain so only for one month . Parts where it never used to rain get flooded . The parts which used to get ample rains now get like 75% and all this happened in my lifetime of 30 years or so . Climate change is very evident ...only blind and braindead cannot see it.
2018-12-07 05:51
No, it's a hoax
2018-12-08 01:45
