The Swiss really are masters when it comes to convincing other nations that their products are the best. Swiss chocolate... Swiss cheese... Swiss watches... All overrated crap that's so steeped in tradition that people are oblivious to how bland it all really is.

Well you're right for the cheese, idk how they managed to be famous for it while Italy and France have wayyyyy better cheeses and a way broader selection of traditional cheeses. But for watches, come on, they're really good at making watches

Marabou is the bomb
2018-12-17 12:44
This, it is Swedish so you would think we are biased, but it really is something special. We've got a lot of imported brands here from Switzerland, Germany and whatnot, but i've never tasted anyone that is even close to Marabou. They also got loads of differend types with nuts, nougat (the list goes on...) and even some really wierd shit, they love to experiment with other types of candy and clash them together. Fazer from Finland is not bad either.
2018-12-17 13:08
It is biased, have you tried eat a whole bar and have your throat exploding? They add some crap in it for sure. Belgium are famous for making proper chocolate stuff.
2018-12-17 13:28
I've eaten more than a bar my friend, and i'm still here. What the hell are you talking about?
2018-12-18 23:39
I am telling you that I have eaten tonnes of Marabou in my long life as well, I am a chocolate fan, I have eaten chocolates from around the world and believe me Marabou is not close to the best, the best is more expensive though so maybe Marabou is one of the better options in its price range I can give you that.
2018-12-19 05:03
I don't care if you are even made of chocolate, your opinion is not absolute. Just because you think that, it does not mean you are "right" And this is about EU chocolate so everything beside that is irrelevant, for example Japan that has a lot of good chocolate.
2018-12-19 19:27
okay okay .. I am just saying it is factory chocolate but I'll still eat it in small amounts.. I realize he asked for best chocolate in your country, so you're probably right, Marabou is the best easily available in Sweden.. In that case I'd say get Anthon Berg in my country or try get Friis-Holm if possible, he apparently won some gold medal in 2017. Belgium isn't well represented on the list of winners for 2018, surprising. internationalchocolateawards.com/2018/11.. Have a good day my neighbour
2018-12-19 20:07
I'm from Finland and I have to agree. Freia in Norway is the only thing I have tasted that is as good, and I later found out that it's actually made by the same parent company so that probably explains it. I'd particularly recommend Marabou with Daim. Fazer is alright, it's less sweet and more creamy though, I guess it just comes down to preferences.

Swedish chocolate is bomb m8. Like the Finnish guy said at #96 & Swedish guy at #92. Marabou is 11/10, Fazer is 10/10. These are, imo the best 2 brands. EDIT: Also to just clear things up before someone types back xd Fazer is Finnish-Swedish (So relax Finland). :D

+1 Marabou is very sweet so it may be more appealing to american tastes but I prefer Fazer Blue (obviously). Both are very good but Fazer is maybe a bit more smooth and not as sweet, tough it's still a pretty sweet milk chocolate

Valrhona is regarded as great chocolate by many chefs. However, It's always better to buy from a chocolatier. Maybe Peter Beier Chocolates ship abroad. If they do - get that. Its very good

FAZERIN SININEN
2018-12-17 14:52
Freia/Marabou (basically the same thing but one's from Sweden and one's from Norway). It's the best chocolate I've ever personally tasted, I don't even like chocolate generally but I think this stuff is delicious. I'll plug a Finnish brand as well and say Fazer is very good, but in my opinion slightly worse than Freia/Marabou. As I said somewhere above, Fazer is a bit less sweet and a bit creamier so it just depends on personal taste I guess. As for other brands internationally, I'd recommend Godiva (a Belgian brand) and Teuscher (a Swiss brand) - they have the typical "richer" taste of continental chocolate, which might be more to your taste.

Has been said multiple times before, but Lindt 100% They offer different grades of quality etc.. For example you can buy alot of variants of their normal chocolate quality (which is already good) in TONS of styles. Differen thinkness, wit caramel and salt, cookie, fruits and so one but you can also buy plain chocolate or higher graded stuff that costs a bit more. I HIGHLY recommend not goinf for the "plain chocolate" attempt. As delicious as plain chocolat is, the huge variety they offer is amazing and you can always just add a plain one for 2-3€ or $.
