HELP STEAM

So I've had this problem for the past year or two but I never really figured out how to fix it and internet didn't quite help. I'm sure many of us have (or had) the same issue so I'm trying hltv now. Basically whenever I launch CS:GO, anyone who has me added keeps repeatedly getting the notification that I'm playing CS:GO. I've asked different people and they even confirmed that for some users it pops once every minute, but for others it might pop once every 5 to 10 seconds. I've been ok with being "invisible" on steam in order to avoid that but it has gradually become worse since I don't get message notifications and people don't reach out to me because I always appear offline. So can anyone help me?

When I say many of us, obviously I mean many of *you. Thank you in advance.

You sound really annoying to have as a friend on Steam. I feel sorry for you dude, have you tried reinstalling Steam altogether? Seems like a solution that you should've tried prior to making this thread if you haven't imo. Tried the verify cache thing as well that literally never works? You could try installing it on a different drive. Good luck.

That won't solve it because I've played CS:GO in more than just this computer and this issue goes back to 2017 when I still had my old one. I mean, I haven't really been an annoying friend since making myself "invisible" on steam will fix it. But will make me appear offline to all of my friends. Ends up being more annoying to myself than to my friends.

I've been all of private, fully public and public for friends only in the meantime. Matter of fact it might've been that what triggered this problem because I remember that when I first switched to private I didn't have this going on.

If you have game details set to private (including hours) it can cause this. Check your privacy settings and just put everything on public for good measure.

Well, I remember hiding the hours because it's not something I'm necessarily proud of or would like to brag about but If i'm not mistaken that was already happening before that steam update. However will do that and will update you whenever I have the chance.

That's probably the issue. tbh I wouldn't worry about hours when pretty much everyone has alts, especially the insane players with like 300 hours. If you're really worried about hours you could just get an alt but unfortunately that's impossible as Valve doesn't condone smurfing.

It's tough. I have to shift+tab every next minute to see if someone messaged me.
