United Kingdom xTheDeadPixel
Progressive liberal lefty here. Tell me, righters, how do you solve poverty? - Remove tax loopholes for big businesses - Dismantle private prisons - Raise taxes on richest - Lower taxes on poorest - Increase minimum wage - Remove corporate money from politics - Federal legalization of marijuana - Relax visa requirements - Lower amount spent on military - Healthcare, housing and education paid for by taxes - Transition to renewable energy - Remove subsidizations to fossil fuel companies and military contractors - Transitional training and jobs for people moving from fossil fuel work to renewable energy work - Full civil rights for women and people of colour.

The US taxes the top 1%(or top 5 not sure) the 2nd most of all countries. At a certain point, you have to stop raising taxes. Also, while we had a liberal president he barely raised taxes among the rich. Democratic president Obama actually raised taxes on the rich less than republican president George W. Bush. I agree with you on the marijuana laws however full civil rights for women and people of color is already in place. Minimum wage should not be raised. Where I live people are all paid above minimum wage anyway. I disagree with almost everything you say economically which we both have our opinions but the US is already in tons of debt, and needs to stop funding more stuff. The number one use of non-mandatory government spending in the US is healthcare. People should pay for college themselves and that comes from a college student who is paying for himself. Renewable energy would be good though.

The military power of the US (#1) equals the military power of the next top three countries combined. Take money OUT of the military and INTO things like... idk... paying off the debt we have or putting it into curing the country of greed-ridden capitalism.

Looking at my flag? Now that is a bit shallow; I am British-born Iranian living in the UK. And looks who is talking!! "Considering you mentioned those two, its easy to conclude that you're very uneducated and sure you haven't read any good books about this topic." Doesn't seem very mature to me? But heyho, I'm wrong here apparently friend! And so I will rephrase my question for you; How does increasing taxation for the rich and decreasing it for the poor makes one "very uneducated", when we are talking about the top 1%? It seems to me, Sir, that you are infact the one more immature, and are the one who judges ones opinion purely on their flag. tut tut tut

Feels like I'm talking with totally other person! "I am British-born Iranian living in the UK." "Dude where the fuck is ur brain" Even grammatical skills increased by your next post. But that's what I like and appreciate. Considering that I'm 100% sure that thread author is wrong, my personality severly increases my ego and gives me right to blame other people for their ignorace. Yeah, thats me.. Weird thing, but I like knowing I'm sitting in a win-win situation, but then my part of explaining gets insanely boring. Because you've asked that in such a mature way, which I already said, I very appreciate, gladly I will give the answer on your question. Topic about poverty, how rich people get richer and how to prevent getting into financial problems, gets handled in a very popular book named "Rich Dad Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki. Insanely known book and its very rare that anyone who's interested in topic about wealth, money and financial problems (lets call it in one word "Wealth") didn't read this book. In this book, Robert Kiyosaki explains it in the very beginning. If you're curious, you'll find the answer by yourself and read it, so I won't spoil your curiosity with my idea's about this masterpiece. Yet I not fully understand your question about "when we are talking about the top 1%?", I'll simply made a guess what I think about it and answer it quickly - "The rich don't work for money, so they don't get taxed. They have money working for them." Judging people based on their flag is for me very common in such a "public" places, like internet, where even an imbecile has access to. Would like to explain a bit more about this topic, but my ego is about to burst out through my fingers on the keyboard, so that none would be bothered about, I'll say that I'm trying to be polite while visiting internet, but that doesn't always work.

Yes, the poor people are the people working for the rich, so why punish them for being poor? It makes no sense at all! And I do accept rich people produce job. But it that to say ALL Rich people produce jobs? You can say the same for poor people living on welfare. However, we are talking about the ELITE rich. $100m+++, who can afford to help the extremely poor along with also having sufficent money for themselves.
2019-01-22 16:35
It's their hardwork earned money. You can't just come to them and take half of their cake. If you keep giving money to the poor, they will just get lazy and won't work. There are many african countries like this. Let's say you produce t-shirts in africa. You produce jobs and product. But you know what? Eventually you will go bankrupt in there, because no one is going to buy your product. Why? Because people get the same product from overseas for Free through massive charities. They would rather choose to get a used t-shirt for free over buying yours for money. Fishing rod is better than fish. But that doesn't always work. They were given 'fishing rods' too. You what happened? Yeah, you are right, they broke 'fishing rods' and sold expensive parts of the 'fishing rod'. It was their choice.

For small amounts of drug possesion there are more black people in jail than for rape, armed robbery and murder all put together. Removal of private prisons lowers amount spent per inmate from an average of $50k/y to $34k/y. Legalization of marijuana drops the incarceration rate exponentially and generates taxes. Less money spent, more coming in.

It was because a teacher always called him Jake (by accident) and Jake was the name of an Autistic student who looked nothing like him (different race) and was well known for pooing himself (don't think I need to explain why this derogatory nickname stuck). He gets called T-dog sarcastically tho.

Make everything market based including charity. -let natural progress occur -end all forms of subsidies and tariffs -enforce states rights and guarantee the possibility of seccession

No government programs. Complete deregulation. End of price control. Okay. So let's get hypothetical. Jim earned minimum wage in a local restaurant before this change. Jim relies on Medicare for his elderly mother with cancer. Jim's boss relied on a government program, allowing him keep his business afloat AND pay his employees minimum wage. Taxes are now lower, cool, but still not enough to afford everything. Jim's boss has to let him go. Insurance companies have free will now so charge exhorbitant rates. Why is it right that Jim's mother dies?

Okay, all happens at once. Many people lose their job or security blanket. All types of firearms now legal. Constitution applied in its original form. Police are a government funded service, they do now not exist because you dismantled all government programs. See where this is going?
2019-01-22 12:39
How does police does not exist? "Bare minimum" is only what's necessary to protect property rights and uphold contracts. It dumbfounds me that a brit, coming from the birthplace of the Levellers and classical liberals, can't understand this.

Okay, so we keep the essential services. *cough* (that's socialism) *cough* A police officer's average starting salary is $29k/y. With your new system of governemt, let's say that goes up to $40k/y. Still puts them in the working class. Lower taxes, they keep more sure, but still in that same situation millions of people are. Everyone has mortgages or loans. Credit card payments. You just forced the bank to be liable to thier givers. So to balance their losses, rates go up. "Why not? I mean the economy got a quick boost and the stock market it booming, they can afford it." An increase on your mortgage here, an increase on your business loan there. Your $40k/y police officer starts to feel the pinch. Everyone across the country feels it, especially the ones that were once reliant on government services like food stamps. The people you told were not people because you rewound the constitution back to it's original form, taking rights away from millions upon millions of women and people of colour. How long does that police officer uphold his duty?
2019-01-22 13:49
The system would to go through a massive reset because of no Central bank and fractional reserve. All bubbles would bust and zombie companies and banks would go bust. Money would regain its purchasing power and the market would flow towards natural equilibrium since there is no price controls to keep wages and other prices different from market rate. Prices would go massively down and over finantializaton that preys on the common working class man would cease to exist. People would go back to simpler forms of saving for the future and private insurance would take over. People would have their rights guaranteed, there is, the only rights that do exist: self ownership and private property. Formal equality before the law. That's all.

2019-01-22 11:10
Burger here with some responses to a few of your points. - Lower amount spent on military Agree 100% it's actually kind of disgusting how much we spend on the military. - Remove corporate money from politics Literally impossible, it is so pervasive that it will never happen - Federal legalization of marijuana Agree 100% It has raked in massive amounts of money in the states where it is legal - Relax visa requirements I don't get how this would help poor Americans make more money. Maybe making it easier for rich people to immigrate? But i don't think rich people have much trouble immigrating anyways. - Transition to renewable energy Maybe very slightly by increasing the amount of construction jobs available, but i think a lot of the jobs that would be created by this are either electricians or jobs that require degrees. - Remove subsidizations to fossil fuel companies and military contractors I guess? The amount of money spent on stuff like this is quite low relative to other avenues of spending. - Transitional training and jobs for people moving from fossil fuel work to renewable energy work I'm really not sure how this whole "green energy" thing makes poor people more money, and this wouldn't solve poverty, you are simply transferring the people working at fossil fuel plants to green energy plants. - Full civil rights for women and people of color*. It is 100% federally illegal to, as a business, discriminate against a employee or potential employee based on race, or sex, or a bunch of other different things. This has a few caveats like religious institutes being allowed to not hire people of other religions, and if you are a small business you technically don't have to follow the EEOC guidelines but you still required to give employees equal pay.
2019-01-22 11:11
america's real poverty rate is around and about zero
2019-01-22 11:15
You just have to lower the poverty standard and just like that the poverty rate went down. You just have to alter the definition of poverty.

-education paid by taxes omega fucking lul Imagine a world where everyone has access to be educated at a higher level effectively declining the value that separated you from other potential employees. There is a reason why some Europeans with degrees in like Engineering come to the US to work. Its because degrees aren't as valued over there; therefore there is a lower salary. daxx.com/blog/development-trends/it-sala.. To be clear, I didn't say a degree doesn't ever help get a higher salary. My point is that there is no reason to inflate our worker pools. The only reason that education is so expensive here in the US is that it has an extremely high demand and schools make you pay for other people's tuition already + extra despite the fact that many schools make millions off college sports alone.

I think that is another huge problem when many works are outsourced and many money goes to other people in another country. For example, Eastern Europe is a very popular outsource destination now (n-ix.com/8-reasons-partner-software-engi..) but I think that in this way many countries make worse for their citizens, when allows this However other countries have a huge benefit, so this is double-edged weapon.
