What to do ?
Germany Vojtass
Hi guys, so I´m in really desperate situation in my life now. I have masters from mech. engineering, speak, , god some abroad experiences, girlfriend for 4 years and well paid job, I have nothing to complaing from the outside point of view....but inside I´m dying, I dont enjoy doing anything (only cooking for my friends and family, and perhaps skiing in winter). Was anyone in same/similar situaion ? If yes how you overcome that ? Im 25 btw.
2019-01-22 22:32
How much money do you got?
2019-01-22 22:33
Im fake flaing, im from CZ, after taxation around 1200€ which is not bad for this country and my exp/age...but money aint no problem, I have everything I need
2019-01-22 22:35
Just buy yourself some nice shit, thats what im doing when i feel down
2019-01-22 22:36
Like I said, money aint no problem, I have everything I need, nothing materialstic makes me happy...
2019-01-22 22:37
Help other people. Also, find someone to talk to
2019-01-22 22:39
What do you mean talk to ? Like psychologist ?
2019-01-22 22:40
Doesn't have to be a psychologist, maybe a friend you can open up to or your girlfriend. It helps a lot to open up to someone
2019-01-22 22:44
My gf know about this situation, its nice when someone hear you, but overall its my problem that I dont know how to deal with
2019-01-22 22:45
Sure it's somewhat your problem but it does help to talk to someone, they can help you tackle it in a new way
2019-01-22 22:51
I bought myself a quad a few weeks ago, its really nice and fun. You should try it, maybe it makes you feel better.
2019-01-22 22:39
Yea I believe that could be fun, but I want to find something that will fullfil my soul in long run, that is what im missing
2019-01-22 22:43
Travel to africa and take care of animal orphans like small elephants? I bet thats fulfilling.
2019-01-22 22:47
This is actually not bad idea.

I recomment you getting a pet (dog for example) if that's possible considering the free time you have. It's very fullfilling.
2019-01-23 10:13
I mean dog is such a responsibility, you cannot gor f.e. to ski for a week to alps, since there is noone that can watch over him.

Yea for sure it's a lot of work and commitment but if you look for something to "fullfill" you, this is a good way to go
2019-01-23 10:34
gotta keep searching for some hobbies
2019-01-22 22:36
easy to say.
2019-01-22 22:38
no, i know its hard idk man try to go for some walks outside, you might need to force yourself the first few times, but after that it should be enjoyable
2019-01-22 22:41
Thing is hobby is not the thing im missing. Im missing the purpose of lifem thats the problem.

the purpose of life is whatever you make it to be, there is no 1 single purpose we humans have except making babies, so it is up to you to choose
2019-01-22 22:53
Yes I got you, but only thing I want to point out. Let´s say taht I find hobby for myself, f.e. runing, riding a bike, badminton, reading books...w/e. How that helps me to find the purpose, since those are free time activities and I have to still go to work (since I do not have my own business-that would fullfil me, thats fro sure).
2019-01-23 07:04
well for me, its full-filling when i get better at something i enjoy
2019-01-23 10:04
True that, I will look for somethign that I enjoy and can make money from.

Play sports, look at the universe, study history, read books, expand your knowledge, travel to beautiful places. There's so much to do.
2019-01-22 22:40
Those are just free time activities, but overall do they help you with the situation ?
2019-01-22 22:47
No
2019-01-23 07:16
Thanks for the insight dude.
2019-01-23 07:32
Since most of people have boring job that they dont like I think those free time activities are the key to happiness. Try new things, no matter what is this, maybe you will get hooked up to something and you will stop feel miserable in no time. But you got to keep trying instead of overthinking. Overthinking is bitch. Good luck!

i can imagen your situation. did 2 studies hated the job when i started working them. i also loved cooking. as an inbetween job i worked in a kitchen. i loved it so much. now 6 years later still cooking in a nice restaurant funny coleges. i love it every minute. but it wil be hard. you will fail and struggle but learn from the misstakes. 0 regrets
2019-01-22 22:43
Im really considering to tryout the job in restaurant as a cook, but do they accept someone who has no real experience/education in the business ?
2019-01-23 07:47
aslong as you want it and show it with passion, a true chef will lear you all you need to know. start simple like a lunch room or small restaurant. motivation is all you need.
2019-01-23 23:51
Ok mate, thanks for the responce, gonna try it out hopefully.
2019-01-24 08:42
Be with your friends and family as much as you can,go out atleast once or twice a week(with them) and use the money you have on vacations, experiences and not material stuff.. Get a pet,it will give you a new friend and a new experience.pets are great! I hope you get better,GL my friend
2019-01-22 22:50
And another thing, listen to music.I know it sounds like bullshit but music really helps, its one of the greatest things we have on earth
2019-01-22 22:54
Thanks for the insight mate. Yea one thing I´m not with my friends that much closely, since I have moved to another city with gf (she study here and I work). Like I said before, I´m not spender for material bullshit, I buy what I need (aside from expensive food). We have a cat and she is amazing, I can only support that idea, if someone lacks contact with people/animals. About the music...I´m not listening that much.

easy to do, might-be-helpful advice sign up to brilliant.org not a complete solution but considering your background, challenging your brain further in maths, logic and sciences can open a different window for you. life-changing but hard: have kids. or find a passion, build something or learn something like how humans evolved to what we are now - i'd recommend reading The Third Chimpanzee by Jared Diamond. but seriously consider having kids man.

I really get what you mean. It's - as you said before - about finding a purpose in your life, I have/had been in the same situation my friend. When I was younger I believed that becoming a cs pro was my purpose (sounds really HLTVish I know, but that's how it is I really believed in it) and nowadays I found my purpose in becoming a soldier for several reason, so I'm trying to join the army now, I actually gave them my application today :) So - it's pretty hard tho, I know - I would suggest to think about what you really like and then play the situation through if you could imagine yourself doing it most of the time in your life. If the answer is yes, well, easy, if no keep on searching for something. For example imagine yourself cooking professionally and ask yourself if it could fulfill your life, because it's about finding something which you do a lot which makes you really happy doing it. If you once found something which you immediately think of after waking up, which basically gives you a reason to get up then just give everything you have for it and try as hard as possible to succeed. (Thats at least my view on life.) Therefore if you are not happy with your job for example I suggest to change that, because a job is something you do the most time of the day. And then you continue changing every little thing which doesn't make you happy which in the bigger picture will then make you happy. It's just about finding and reflecting what you do casually and if you do it for a reason/because you like it or if you do it, because whatever the fuck, then stop doing it. At least you are one of the persons who believe that this live has more to offer than to watch Netflix all day and not get out of your comfort zone at all. Keep reflecting everything you do as much as you can (if you don't do it naturally, do it focused in the evening, go through the day in your head and sort what was good and what was not). Finding something which I believe is my purpose in life really helped me to get out of this state of mind of what you call 'dying inside'. Maybe I forgot something, I'll read through it again after it posted it and maybe add something. Best of luck and I hope you become happy again my friend! :) (You will, trust me, everything is possible if you really give everything you have.)

I can relate so much, because I described my own situation the exact same way. From the outside view I had basically everything one could wish for, but I was still so unhappy, because I was missing this 'purpose'. You can't buy happiness is very true I think :) I'd rather be poor, but able to do what I love then to be rich, but without doing what I want to do. You only have one life, give everything you got and don't waste it, because there is no greater pain than the pain of regret in the end. Great quote I once read was "Think training is hard? Try losing." (It was in context of working out/training for some reason like a competition or something, but you get it I think)

And btw if you feel like you are not challenged enough mentally I can recommend spending some time on philosophy (reading books about it or listening to podcasts). Imo the greatest challenge in terms of using my own mind and with that challenge/me being forced to really having to focus on it comes the fun :)
2019-01-22 23:20
I fell asleep yesterday, therefore I´m responding now. Firstly, thanks for the time to respond me in this "long" way, I really appreciate it. Secondly, yea job is kinda boring, but the thing is I dont know what really fullfil me, so Im not changing it. To be honest, the thing I enjoy the most is bbq, I bought a new offset grill last summer, and made some fucking good briskets, ribs, wings, etc. Maybe making a foodstand is not bad idea what I think about it. And I will definetly try out some philosophy books, do you have any recomendations ? Lastly you said you want to be cs pro, I have been in similar situation with League of legends, before like 6years, I was very decent at it, got some offers from amateur teams (not paid at that time). I have been playing LoL for 14-16h/day...crazy amounts. Then kinda from nothing I studied abroad, and stoped playing that much. Now I play usually just MM in cs, 3 hours a day, with my friends (IRL friends). And good luck on that soldier path, it aint easy, for me I could not do it, because you are loosing your freedom in a way. Anyway thanks for the responce once more.

2019-01-23 07:12
Do you actually enjoy doing your job?
2019-01-23 07:33
Well, if there is something to do then yes, but most of the time the work is kinda not well spread. I have f.e. to do lot of things in one or two days, and then I have days when I browse internet (majority of them). And they cannot give me more work, since the company is badly organized, so even when I find some opportuinty what we can do, there is noone to do the job manually (I work at engineering company, that focuses on coal fired power plant technologies to reduce emissions)
2019-01-23 07:43
I read too many books that include spiritual contents, believes, traditions when i was in bad moon since wasted of life and that boost my confidence bottom to top level as a refreshed, matured person
2019-01-23 10:12
I mean, thanks for comenting, about the confidence...I´m feeling confident enough to be fair. The books might be good, but Im not into spiritual things at all, I do not believe in god or some higher power.
2019-01-23 10:17
Not believing god i mean, believing yourself by seeing your around without any differences maybe you can search for jiddu krishnamurti, rumi, by the way thx for your comments

Try to change your perspective and view of what's truly important in life. Some call it putting on a "new pair of glasses". I too used to be like you, I had the job, money, girlfriend, everything I needed but was miserable. I took a break from work and traveled, broke up with my girlfriend for a few months (yes it was hard but necessary). I also connected with guy friends that I haven't spoke to in years and had a great time. Maybe you're not giving attention to the things that are really important to you, for me it was time with friends and focusing on what I truly wanted out of my future - not my girlfriend's future or family's future. Just know you are not alone! Every human being has to create inside them what is worth living for and what is their purpose. Just stay humble and open-minded, now that you are looking, I'm sure the universe or God will help find you the way. Just believe. Good luck friend.

Hey Had the same problem tho. Was in job for 4 years, got bored and was mad all day. Have a girlfriend in barcelona, and we talked a little about future ect which opened my mind a little. Then i thought about what interests me, I had no damn clue, I guess video games destroyed it xD. Well I started to quit everything that costs me monthly/annually and left my job to go in a 1-year school. Get new insights in something is great. Maybe make a course in massages or river rafting. What ever just jump into smth you have around your place. Step outside is the best I guess.. By the way. I am half a year off the job, still don't know what to do. I'm 28 yo... And get rid of friends you actually don't like but you stay with them because " I know them for so long i cant leave them mimimi" ;) talk do a guy next to your girlfriend. Women trend to know what they want:)
2019-01-23 11:48
Hey, thanks for coment, I mean take a year off and do something out of my spec/field could be kinda fun. About the hobbies, I feel that the games destroyed it as well, I started playing WoW when I was 14, then i quit the sports, started to play LoL and then cs :D And now I´m complaining about my life on csgo forum :D quite irony.

depression is just sign from something inside u to change and turn your life around. find new hobbies, do sports, socialize more , travel. i had same problem many times until i started with mma.
2019-01-23 11:55
I dont know ? Is that depresion im living in currently ? And if you said you had the problem more times, does that mean one of your solutions did not work out ?
2019-01-23 11:56
mostly i would not consider it depression i had, it was mostly like just being stuck in a boring always repeating circle of life without any changes in sight. i did many things but with mma i finally had found something that made me feel good again.
