i think the same, spend that money with a great party its a big mistake
2019-02-04 18:51
Seriously, don't spend so much money on a marriage. The joy of that day is not in how big a party you have, it's in the vows you and your partner say. 18.5K could get you some great home improvements, an unforgettable holiday, or even college money for your first kid.

+1 ty mate, when I say that I am raising money for the wedding I am not necessarily thinking about spending it with the party, I think exactly as you said, I am thinking more about life after the wedding than on the party itself.
2019-02-13 11:06
Ok good, I know especially in American culture they often spend retarded amounts of money on weddings and I honestly have no clue whether that's true in Brazil, but I'm glad you're sensible about money.

2019-02-05 16:55
People who earn that much money would probably work on having more not having 20k comments on hltv.
2019-02-05 17:05
Quite the opposite, I retired myself as I had enough to be wealthy enough to never have to work for someone ever again, neither my children (when I'll had). But indeed most of people in my field of work keep working, because of multiple factors, no just greed but most of time power. I never felt that way and always despised my impact on society during my working years. As I'm a far leftist by hearth working for liberal governement and then as board member in some companies of the CAC40. As I said in other threads, my n+3 in my first full time job is now CEO of the IMF, my n+2 has been CEO of AirFrance-KLM since. One of my classmate is now in top 5 salaries of CapGemini, one my first coworkers in top 3 of Orano (former Areva). One work in the Presidency cabinet, etc..

2019-02-11 17:43
so you just spend the entire day on hltv while you have a fortune?
2019-02-05 20:18
Why would I spend the entire day here? I send a lot of sms as well yet I wouldn't say I spend the entire day on my contact list. This being said, I spend a lot of time here indeed. Something between 1 and 3h a day with hltv website open when i'm in an hltv mood. But since it is my only computer hobby (and watching some tournaments) as I don't play anymore, it is not a lot of time spend on computer recreative activities compared to a lot of hltv users if you add their time spend ingame. But what the fuck I'm doing here instead of fucking whores all around the world? I'm very settle, I am married, my wife still works, so I have a lot of free time once day to day asset management, newspaper reading, and sport routine done, few meetings, etc.. I came back on hltv after something like of 10 years because I was in a wheelchair, not sure to walk again. And I wanted to help something that was not very popular but important to me when I was young. My project was to invest in a professional team. And I came here to prospect how the market evolved, what sponsors, how maturate was the market, etc.. And as I saw a team was too expensive for my budget (according to the profit/risk related to total cost) I felt in love with the forum and got my interest for competitive cs back so I kept coming. To me, rhetoric is a real hobby, arguing with people and sometime baiting are somethings I like, so why not? No mention it train my too poor english as you noticed. Also, I'm not doing just that, I do that while I watch tv show, movies, documentary, news, conferences, etc.. And finally, it is a very good way to have access to international mood not related in news. For instance, Bolsonaro was obviously a serious competitor according to hltv. But even more important, the trends in the youth, as you are people of hltv, in term of consumption tendencies, etc.. Fortnite was a big shot to not miss (and then Epic and then Tencent, that's a reason of this bank account in Hong Kong, so part of this money was made with your help). And to know something first helps a lot when it comes to investments. Hltv, not is not just a hobby, but also one of my "secret" thermometer compared to classic investment banking that is barely able to analyse reddit/twitter trends in a fast and fine enough way. Sorry for the long post but then you (and other reading) know it all, now take it as bait or not, I don't really care. In this topic but also in a lot of other such as scientific or politics one, I answer to share my experiences and knowledge in order to help you fox and had fun talking with people I would never met otherwise. Have a nice day TL;DR : HLTV is a win (fun) win (share) win (knowledge) to me

What put you in a wheelchair if you don't mind me asking? And what was your workfield?
2019-02-13 09:25
I replied about this in another thread, so if you don't mind the start part about my studies, answers are here : hltv.org/forums/threads/1962915/any-phds.. TL;DR : "First job at Bercy, the french ministry of Economy, working as adviser for the economic minister Lagarde (now IMF CEO). Then I still worked for French State as a council for national companies merging, privatization and then for boards of companies with State capital. A investment bank with sieges in many of these companies hired me, and I became friend with one of its director, Mathieu Pigasse, and was quite efficient, he offered me better and better position. I was fan of extreme sports, almost every one of them I could access to. And one day, what had to happen happened, I broke myself in a kite surf incident. Almost drawn."

Glad to hear you recovered! Must've been scary hearing the 50% odds. So am I clear to to summarize that you finished law school, got into killer positions, invested in markets, living off dividends? I've thought about starting to invest, but the amount of capital needed to actually make it has always seemed off the charts. What kind of initial investment did you put into it?
2019-02-13 10:02
Pretty much, except that after law school i entered one of the most "elitist" french school, made to teach all top officials of France. And so positions I've got after are not because I'm so a genius but for a large part because I got lucky at the right moment.

It's crazy to hear someone from such a prestigious school to align with the left. My experience with even semi-successful people is quite the opposite. You come over to me as a socialist (correct me if I'm wrong). Is that because you never forgot your background?
2019-02-13 10:07
Well, that school mostly graduate center right to center left people, because most of them made economic school before like HEC, were they are teach to work in banks, big companies etc.. Then if they go into politic, 50% of their choice depend of the ruling party, as it was always center right or left, they chose that. There is a leak about that : "Royal, a student of it, once went to a professor and asked him : I don't know if I'm left or right, I want to go into politic but I didn't made up my mind" Since she as been ministry multiple time, and even run for president under the Socialist Party in 2007 (center left). Even Macron, entered politic as center left, and ran as center right. Claiming himself "I am socialist" and few months later "I am not socialist". But there are also many people out of this school that doesn't enter into politic and so stand their view, from far right to far left. Yes I am "real" left in France, so Sanders like for USA I believe. Socialist as we use it today : heavy regulated and redistributive capitalism. Ofc my personnal experience leads me the way I want the society, because I saw even lived situations were "work hard and all will be fine" base ideology of liberalism doesn't work no matter what. I don't even blame people who always had a confortable life to vote for what they vote. How could they understand? But don't get me wrong, my heart is at the left, but my pockets are in the middle, that why I voted Macron. I accept this system as it suit my interests but I wouldn't be able to help it to rule.
2019-02-13 10:50
Semi-successful (or fully-successful) people, especially from these "elitist" school (where they are told every single day, they are the elite, they are better than other people, etc..) tend to convince themselves they succeeded only because of their innate qualities : smarter, harder workers, whatever. So I believe it is natural to then embrasse political views that confirm their feeling. But me, as I wouldn't had access to univ (not even to internet during my high school) without social help, know that it is not as simple. Working hard is not enough to be rich, a tremendous amount of people work hard, harder even than millionaires and stay poor all their life. Butcher men, construct workers, baker, all these work have my full respect as they do jobs too hard for me.
2019-02-13 10:57
To answer your edit : I'm not allowed to give the exact amount I started with because of agreements, somewhere between 6 and 11.8kk. But it is not important. There is no lower limit to invest. My advice to anybody (as you can also read in the thread I linked) who want to invest are : - to start as soon as possible, - to invest only in long term values (you must be able to stand your positions for 10 years if needed) - never trade if you want make your living out of it, because trading is more or less like betting. Some people will earn money, but most won't. And it is like betting but instead of odds made by random amateurs you bet against, they are made by armies of professional traders working for multi billions worth banks. So your chances to beat them are very low. - invest what you don't need to live. To avoid any mandatory withdraw because you are lacking money to pay your bills. - reinvest the most possible of your benefits. That's probably the most important if you want to make a living out of it. To understand the difference between revinvesting 3% of your total wealth and keeping only 1% of return for your need instead of the opposite for let's say 100000 invested after 15 years of average growth of 4% end like this : 100000*(1+0.03)^15= 155k (growth of 55k) 100000*(1+0.01)^15= 116k (16k only growth) - Best way to build a stack are shares, yet at some point you will have to diversify. - Depending of taxes in your country, but in France, to reach the average revenue per capita with a safe strategy, considering inflation, fees, taxes and all, I believe 1million is needed. Note that at some point you will be allowed to invest loans banks will make you. It is what we call the leverage effect. If you want an analogy with real estate : you borrow money to you bank to buy a flat, you rent it, this rent pay your loan. At the end of the loan, this flat is yours, if you sell it all its value is yours, and if you did it well, renting not only paid your loan bills, but also gave you a tiny benefit all years long.

I have never bought ingame skins in my life or even used microtransactions.. I have bought two gaming mice since I got my first computer in 2003.. I buy actual stuff, physical stuff. If I were to sell all the shit I have hoarded over the years I would probably make a quite a lot of money. I might go sell something rn actually :D
2019-02-05 16:42
no plz dont, put it on tise and finn.no and sell it to me i want a computer, a keyboard and a mouse, maybe wireless headset

It is, at least in Western Europe. There is a giant housing shortage, many 20 year olds are still studying, and saving up some money for future expenses is smart.
