Possible Upset Major Winners

I obviously hope NaVi win the major so that S1mple and Electronic get the win they deserve and Zeus and Edward get a chance to retire on a big win. NiP: Solid core that was good in the 2nd half of 2018 including semis at ECS S6 finals and 2nd at Blast Copenhagen, with the playstyle they have and everyone on the team able to go off they could come from behind and win. HR: Bit of a long shot, but if Hobbit, ISSAA and Woxic all go off at the same time they could destroy everyone. MiBR: The second-worst possible timeline for this major, if MiNR fix the problems they had as SK in 2017 fast they could take it, would take vintage Fer, FalleN and Coldzera to make it work though.

You talk about NiP and HR lul but don't even mention Vitality. This team is clearly rising, they have beaten basically every Tier 2 team (except ENCE), and are improving week after week, + they have a player currently among the top 5 best players in the world, which NiP and HR don't have.

I can’t see Vitality going very deep since they only have one consistent star player who is very inexperienced under pressure (ie he could disappear at the major because of stress) and the rest of the team is meh. They’ll go through to top16 though IMO.

In another message i baited myself a bit talking about a top 4 for ENCE or Vitality (or NRG) but forgot we start the Major with 24 teams, not 16 so yeah, if you get through the first swiss phase you have only ensured top 16, not top 8 like it used to happen. Agree on Vitality "dark horse" unpredictable status though.

I don't believe that i can already say 5 teams that would be a bigger upset but a more likely one: ence, avangar, g2,nrg and vitality

This. For ENCE and Vitality and maybe NRG (not to win the Major but go deep like a top 4). I doubt G2 a lot, even though they are unpredictable, and AVANGAR is an average team, getting a top 8 would already be huge for them. But yeah ENCE/Vitality and NRG definitely can get a top 4 finish if they are on.

I'm pretty certain avangar players could go toe to toe with every top player atm they only choke late game and lose stupid rounds.

With a new roster that has 0 LAN experience I would call it an upset, especially with Astralis, Liquid, NaVi and FaZe there.
