What components do you have for your PC and is it good enough for CS:GO?

2019-02-09 23:18
Really? >300?
2019-02-09 23:18
most of the time yep, never less than 200
2019-02-09 23:20
Wow that's amazing! I think I need to buy myself one of these 1060 too.
2019-02-09 23:22
GTX 1060 6gb has no impact on this performance. It's all about CPU performance.
2019-02-09 23:23
Oh I see... You overclocked it to 5.0 GHz?!? How?!?
2019-02-09 23:24
Bought a Shadow Rock 2 cooler and overclocked. Simple as that. The CPU is 8 years old. No reason to buy it now but it still performs well. Nowadays Intel CPUs usually clock high enough anyway automatically.
2019-02-09 23:25
So you're saying that your CPU lasted 8 years while being overclocked @5.0 GHz and never experienced any faillures or any other issues?
2019-02-09 23:27
Yep. CPUs don't often die if they're not killed by wrong overclocking or something else.
2019-02-09 23:28
So if I were to buy like, let's say a Ryzen 7 2700 and a powerful cooler, then I would be able to overclock it for many years without it dying?
2019-02-09 23:30
Ryzen gen. 2 is not overclock friendly. I don't think they go higher than 4.3 or something. Intel will give you way better results in that regard.
2019-02-09 23:31
Hm oke. AMD is suposedly going to release processors that go up to 5.0 GHz while overclocked so than it would be a viable option?
2019-02-09 23:33
5ghz is just a rumor. It seems too good to be true, but maybe im wrong
2019-02-09 23:43
Well they said thay will be using the 7 nm technology for their CPU's too so who knows. Maybe I'll get lucky!
2019-02-09 23:44
The new processors will likely be better for overclocking and usually they also release an overclocked version "2700X" instead of 2700 e.g. most of the time CPUs nowadays boost really high anyway.
2019-02-10 00:04
I heard that the X only adds a RGB fan but that it wasn't strong enough to stabilize the CPU at higher frequencies.
2019-02-10 00:05
The X version is overclocked out of the box compared to normal version. You can't overclock much higher than the X version with neither version you choose (overclocked or not overclocked out of the box).
2019-02-10 00:06
Hm interesting...
2019-02-10 00:07
And the X version comes with a better fan because it produces higher temperatures, and yes they added "RGB" to it.
2019-02-10 00:10
Are you sure they provide enough cooling? They look kind of small and cheap compared to other CPU fans
2019-02-10 00:11
Enough to make the 2700X run as high as it runs out of the box. It's not as quiet as others though.
2019-02-10 00:12
4.2 max i guess. It will be enought for csgo, but keep in mind that it wont give you better fps than lets say a r5 2600, and that a 9600k@5ghz will destroy it in gaming for the same price
2019-02-09 23:37
You have a point there...

The motherboard dies first if it has a bad vrm. I still also have a 2500k at 4.7 GHz. I ran it on quite high voltages in the past and my previous cheapo motherboard gave in like 3 years ago, so I got a replacement, used. Altough I notice that I have to run higher voltage now to reach the same stable clock speed now than before.
2019-02-10 00:15
how much voltage did you put to get 5.0 stable ? and what mobo did you have?At 5 ghz it consume more than 200w ,i wonder how that vrm lasted for 8 years with that frequency and big voltage.(sorry for bad eng).
2019-02-13 20:34
I just fried my mobo with i5-2500k, but it's like 1,38V or more to keep 5,0Ghz stable with sandy bridge. I have I5-9600k right now 5.0Ghz running 1,280V so it definetly needs more than coffee lake. With sandy i had better temps tho. It uses like 150W max with OC on load.

United States MacAnTosh
i've heard of raid, but what exactly does it do?
2019-02-09 23:47
Well there are two types of RAID: RAID 1 RAID 0 RAID 1 saves the data you are using on two seperate drives (HDD, SSD whichever you prefer). So that means you have tow times the same data. RAID 0 saves the data you are using also on two drives (again HDD, SSD whichever you prefer) but it stores half of the data on one drive and half of the data on the other. Because of this your drives can work in unison to achieve boot times under 10 seconds on a regular PC. However, in some casas RAID 0 actually makes the whole process slower because it has trouble working in unison. That's why some people don't achieve shorter boot times but longer boot times.
2019-02-09 23:54
What voltage are you running the r5 at? I've got mine at 4.1GHz with 1.35V but cant seem to go much beyond that without pushing it to 1.4V
2019-02-09 23:27
1.38v it is not enought to stay stable during prime95 stress test, but it passes several 3d mark stress tests ez pz. No crash in game so far, but if it happens 1.39 or 4.1Ghz@1.38v should be ok i guess
2019-02-09 23:31

2019-02-09 23:38
Mine is the same. @1.35 i cant push beyond 4.1 Golden chips goes up to 4.3
2019-02-09 23:39
Still pretty decent, some chips cant get to 4.1 at any voltage. How far have you tried to push it? I got mine to 4.225ghz @1.42v and got in one cinebench run gyazo.com/da149981d04254b6dd5f70e14a37e8..

I've been playing without fps-counter or net_graph visible the last 2 years cuz it distracts me sometimes so i'm not completely sure but I'm usually around 250-300 in 1280x960 (4:3) during normal games afaik.

I'm well aware of that, lol. The thing is that I don't have a Z77 motherboard which is needed to overclock it. I never got one cuz of a tight budget when I bought it.

well, yeah. i dont just play cs though haha, i play pubg and recently been playing that ew br, apex legends. i get 120 fps avarage on apex, and well over 200 on cs, on pubg i get avarage 80 cause that game is a unoptimized piece of shit lol EDIT: all on ultra settings (except cs)
